He’s been an extremely active philanthropist with Habitat for Humanity, and he even eradicated the guinea worm from Africa, which used to plague over three million people annually. For the past few years the case numbers have been in the single digits, and he’s vowed to stay alive until there are no more recorded cases.
If the Iranians hadn’t taken Americans hostage his term would have worked out much differently, because his two biggest black eyes were the oil embargo and the hostage crisis.
