You're kind of on point. Where I would disagree is that the roman empire survived for 500 years. At the tail end if which, they failed to secure their borders and allowed differences in cultures to pervade, instead of encouraging commonality via education and induction into their own systems of culture and governance. However, I will say I haven't spent a ton of time reading about the fall of rome, merely the highlights. So I could be wrong.
To put a finer point on it, Rome actually lasted for around 1,000 yrs. Imperial Rome (From Octavian Augustus Caesar, nephew of Gaius Julius Caesar) last about 500 yrs. The Romans knew that slavery (other races) were a threat -see Spartacus. They also knew that outsiders like Attila (later) were a threat as well. The internal struggles of the Senate and the Imperial rulers caused several civil wars, but ultimately they could not hold the empire together because of the fractured ethnic groups who were beginning to band together - see Boudica in Brittania. The empire's resources were spread too thin and they could not quash rebellions quickly, it continued to weaken the empire until it finally fell.
Barbarian was simply a term for foreigners, not the acts they perpetrated later in history. I do remember that to be fact. Stems from the barbary coast, long before islam was a thing. But the roman republic only lasted about 250 years give or take a decade or two. Then they handed over rule to caesar and he never gave it back. So we are pretty much aligned with histories follies.
Exactly correct on the barbarians. Your point is taken in regards to the republic where you are also correct. When Caesar crossed the Rubicon, the republic was all but ended.
Was biden setting up the national guard (I know it wasnt literally him that did it, probably obama's lackeys in the military) at the capitol the rubicon moment for the u.s.?

Sounds familiar.
You're right. It definitely lasted longer than I see the USA lasting, however, the pace of things then seems much slower than today.
I'd argue that their failure to secure their borders was precisely because they couldn't get the Barbarian's among other cultures, to become Roman.
Interestingly, Roman culture kept spreading long after the fall of the empire. Hopefully this great American experiment will as well.
