I always use these kiosks over a cashier. If my order gets put in wrong with a kiosk it is on me. I don't fuck up entering my order incorrectly when I enter it myself. Just one less point of failure in ordering food.
We've had these in Australian McDonalds for a few years now. I'm surprised you don't have them in the US yet.
It won't kill every cashier job at "macas" as we call it over here. But it will kill alot. I remember before these arrived, there was a cashier at every register. Now there's only 1-2 max and about 10 kiosks.
Seen Woolies and Coles lately? They're starting to renovate all stores to put MORE of the self-serve kiosks in. Soon there will be only 1 cashier serving, simply for the old folks.
If I entered my order correctly and the cook fucked it up I have a leg to stand on when the food they give me doesn't match the order. If the attendant fucked it up they can fall back to claiming they misunderstood me or I didn't effectively communicate the order.
It usually is the cook but I've had shitty attendants enter the order incorrectly, too.

Also the kiosk is more likely to give me service with a smile.
And the kiosk doesn't check its cell phone while taking my order.

I've seen them for the last 3-4 years. Usually much better than the cashier.

most of the times it is the cook/prep fucking up the order, not the attendant. Atleast from my experience.

Same here, your order could still be messed up, but it sure lowers the chances of it happening.
