Yes, but they're far away. Right now most big cargo ships can't pass through the panama canal. So if they wanted to unload in houston, baltimore, or somewhere else not on the west coast they'd need to go all the way around south america.

And why the fuck don't they unload at other ports ? Are there really no other ports that could accommodate some of the ships ?

But they want to unload in California not in Houston. Why not go north and unload in other ports up north ? Something doesn't make sense.
