i have absolutely zero doubt that the every flu case has been counted as a corona case. HOWEVER that doesnt mean there hasnt ALSO been legit corona cases above that. I had covid and can tell you it's diff than the flu.
Very true! I've had multiple flu strains, including swine flu, but I also had a bad case of COVID-19. They shared some similarities, but COVID was definitely a very different animal. I had a worse case of it than I've ever had of flu and have lingering side effects several months later. (This was in spite of my having a conservative doc who was onboard with using HCQ as both a preventative and treatment and who got me on A ZPAK, zine, etc. right away.) That being said, I know most people do NOT have that bad of a case, and I totally agree it has been overhyped, used, abused, etc. I don't know why flu cases are so low, but I'm sure in some places, they counted them as COVID, mostly to get more $$$. It would be reasonable to assume that most contagious diseases would be reduced during a time when many people were quarantined, masked, washing hands, and staying socially distant, but that wouldn't explain why a city wouldn't have any flu fatalities in a given year, unless there's some extremely shady business going on. I knew I was high risk, so I was very cautious and didn't get out much before I got COVID, but I caught it anyway. Others in my household were out often and were even around me right before I had symptoms, yet never caught it. I count myself very fortunate to live in a state/county that never had mandatory lockdowns/masking. We went through several months with many cases, but the county rode it out, and cases have dwindled to almost nothing now. Cases were already on a steep descent before the vaccines became locally available, so I don't think that has much to do with the stats. This disease just needed to play itself out as herd immunity naturally developed.
Are there coronaviruses? Of course! What a silly question.
Now, can you tell me how many cases of the flu there were last 2020 and how many deaths?
