An ignorance attributable to women not wanting to talk to men about these symptoms and us not wanting to hear about them for a "period" of time covering literally all of human history.
If women say their symptoms are "awful," or if you say they're "completely normal and benign," we take your word for it. We trust your judgment either way. That's humanity's time-honored way of dealing with these things.
Only now do women grant themselves the entitlement to be so smug about it all. Do we need you to teach us about periods? No. Those of us who aren't gynecologists leave it to each woman to decide what's normal for her.

You're not the only woman and I'm sorry but your fellow women are not stupid. We know when our period is different. From the reports I've read, they are early /late /way more painful, etc. Hormones are sensitive to stress and inflammation.
