"The only way to stop the exponential propagation of a Corona virus-like cyber threat would be to disconnect the millions of vulnerable devices from one another and from the internet".

I've been telling people this is exactly what's going to happen for months now.

They're going to be using talking points about (paraphrased) "a single day without internet is better than the effects of not complying ("two weeks to stop the spread") and propagating the virus/threat further."

It will lead to things like "why are you on the internet?! Don't you know you might be spreading the virus?!" How long until people just start getting online anonymously while the rest are disconnected? Would it be better to be disconnected or stay online? Will this lead to a better life/technological balance?

The digital monopolies will be all in. Twitter, Google, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, etc, etc, etc. I don't care what you think about Trump, just imagine the coordinated removal of his self and his supports (and various right-wingers/dissidents) from the internet used against the global population.

Imagine ever citizen is persona non grata from the web until "They" let you back (which would obviously mean "never" as people continue to comply).

It’s the inability to communicate, order goods, buy products and everything else that has been connected to the web. Data, banking, information, you name it would be unavailable to everyone.

We’ve become too dependent on the internet and just like our need for oil, we would be fucked without it.
