Advocating nothing, I wonder what was the mental resolve of those who fought in the American Revolution. What made them think their actions were justified, required, and that they were willing to die for?

Or is the variable of the government's use of force the difference?

Maybe they felt there was some sanctuary being physically distant from the monarchy, and it gave them the confidence to make a stand?

Simply put - they had the stones for it. Too many people are WAP but also don't have an ingrained sense of life's value in the context of freedom/responsibility and purpose.
