Someone steals my shit and sells it to a pawn shop. I have to purchase it back with my own money. Maybe the bank should buy back the car and house from her.
For the record I never persued the legal aspect of it. But the police in ft. Worth and on base at NAS ft worth told me I would have to buy it all back if I couldn't prove via receipts that it was mine. Dude on base stole my shit and sold it. He was later arrested in a meth manufacturing bust on base
I had marks in specific spots on the equipment that only I could identify. They said I needed receipts of purchase from when they were purchased 10 years prior. Who the fuck keeps receipts for ten years? Not to mention that the fuck that stole my shit was arrested for drug dealing and manufacture on base and when they questioned him he admitted to stealing my shit and to where he sold it it. Yet I still had to produce receipts or pay for my own shit.
It was the law that screwed you, not the pawn shop. I'm sure if you think real hard you can figure out why they cant give away shit without a police report etc.
I had the report and the confession. They wanted the receipts from ten years ago or monetary compensation. The one that screwed me was the thief. The one that screwed the bank was the asshat that hit the wrong button. The thief lost his job and freedom for a time. I lost my shit permanently. The asshat at the bank who hit the wrong button should lose his job. Should the woman keep the shit she bought with what wasnt her money? No. Not anymore than the pawn shops SHOULD be able to keep my shit.
Hey for once one really dindu nuffin, the money just showed up. The rest is what comes naturally when you're too stupid to realize that a sum like that somebody is going to come looking for and no you didn't just win the lottery.
But dang 1.2 million and you go out and buy a* Hyundai*?
As one who likes big trucks, I liken the Freightliner Cascadia tractor to Hyundai cars of today. It is good, practical and reasonable in price. Both have a finite life but will last for a long time.
I agree. They fucked up. I’m on her side. Banks do all sorts of shady bullshit to squeeze every penny from you (hidden fees, .01% interest, ridiculous loopholes) and they’ll never face repercussions
They gave you the money, you didn't steal it. You did not use force to get something someone else owns. Also, this happened to a bank, wherein another financial institution gave them somewhere like half a billion and they got to keep it and couldn't get the money back, because the payment was legitimate.
It's stealing to keep something that doesn't belong to you, regardless of how you obtain it. At least that's the definition for me from a moral standpoint. And she knows damn well she stole that money ergo she hid it. I'm just saying it's a little conflicting when a crook steals from another crook.
If someone places a bundle of money in your mailbox with your name on it... It is not stealing. Even if they come back next week stating they gave it to the wrong person.
Sure you should give it back but it is not stealing.
In OP's example, you have an existing relationship with the bank. Therefore, it's the same as taking extra change they give you at the grocery store. There could be no scenario where that money is legitimately yours.
In your example, that isn't stealing at all. It's accepting a gift with your name on it. I'd need a pretty compelling reason to give it back, not to mention they'd have to prove they gave it to me in the first place if it was just dropped off in my mailbox anonymously.
I blame big banks, and polititans who make the value of money in 2021 of no value. When I was growing up, $20,000 was being a millionaire. Today If you don't have a million, you are third world order.
Every back and CC has a police like this. It’s not Monopoly - there is never a bank error in your favor. If you’re going to take it, moving it out of the account was smart - spending it was not.
"My account must have been hacked. Sorry. There was some money in there you say? Gosh I'd sure like to get that back."
Then take $82/ day for the next 40 years from that big piggy bank you have for everyday purchase and continue working and otherwise living within your means
I think there's an argument to be had that if the bank is going to make that kind of error, then maybe it should fall upon the woman being honest to give it back, rather than forcing her to give it back.
You still get off on calling every black person a jogger? I et you hangout on 4chan and hate Jews too... I would have done the same thing this bitch did.

Lolwut. If you can prove it is stolen the Pawn shop will have to relinquish it.

No shit you have to be able to prove it is yours. Did you think you could just walk into a pawn shop and start claiming ownership of stuff? JFC.

Well, did you not go to the cops? Receipt of stolen goods is a crime the pawn shop can get hit with.
No
Guess the "bank error in your favor" card from Monopoly is bullshit after all.
go to jail
directly

Well, there's no accounting for taste.
This isn't the 1970s. Hyundai makes good cars now.

Well, fuck the banks too, lol.
I would have donated it in their name to charity.
I don't understand why this is a crime. They put money in her account, it should have been hers at that point.
I agree. They fucked up. I’m on her side. Banks do all sorts of shady bullshit to squeeze every penny from you (hidden fees, .01% interest, ridiculous loopholes) and they’ll never face repercussions
I'm on this lady's side. Bank fucked up.
She thought oh God dam the reparations bill passed.
😆 😢 😆
Possession is 9/10 of the law, right?
Yep, the criminals possess all the means of controlling the law.
On the one hand, I'm against keeping money that doesn't belong to you, i.e. stealing.
On the other hand, fuck Charles Schwab with a rusty fish hook.

Who cares? You think this bank gives 2 Fs about you?
Bank error in your favor; go directly to jail
LOL get it queen
Gets affimative action easy job. Taken care of from cradle to grave and steals 1.2 million dollars. Africans are scumbags.
Fuck the banks. They digitally make money out of nothing. Fractional reserve banking is a scam of epic proportions.
I don’t feel bad for the bank at all. Just who got bailed out during the housing crash?
I blame big banks, and polititans who make the value of money in 2021 of no value. When I was growing up, $20,000 was being a millionaire. Today If you don't have a million, you are third world order.
“Got me dat” Ethics.
I mean, I'd do the same thing.
Although I'd be more inconspicuous about it.
"Mistakenly" lol. They know what they are doing and 1.5m is pennies for the damage this could instigate.

As scotus would say, its all moot at this point right? she already spent the money
She's squinting her eyes to try to look Asian, but it's not working.
I am to believe the women in the photo has a brokerage account with Chuck??
Sure she lost the house but she ain't gonna be homeless for a couple of years at least ...
ActBlue made a boo-boo.
They got the wrong person, no way she fits the description of a jogger.
Lol, she dindu nuffin!
This lady doesn’t look like she gets much excercise
She thought that was the free money the democrats were given her.
You still get off on calling every black person a jogger? I et you hangout on 4chan and hate Jews too... I would have done the same thing this bitch did.
