I despise that snitching, whining, irritating social media shitform. In my area it's filled with people pissing and moaning about their "rights" to "dogs not barking and kids not being noticed or heard" in a neighborhood of over 600 families.
The examples they provide are real shit too, blue lives matter and all lives matter, what in god's name is wrong with saying that the lives of cops and everyone else matter.
Nextdoor had a purpose initially. Could get recommendations of good plumbers, electricians, realtors, or even keep up with things in the community. Now it’s a bunch of whiny snitches posting restaurants that don’t enforce masks or dog poop not picked up. It’s so bad now. It’s just a liberal bitch fest nowadays.
I got banned for telling someone they don't have rights to being free from loud noises (dogs barking and kids playing) just because they pay POA dues. Then I was called every thing but a sensible person.
I would add that around three years ago, a homeless person managed to join Nextdoor. He immediately got money from my neighbors for various things - food, clothes, etc. People gave money to a local vet so his dog could get shots and neutered.
However, like most of LA's homeless, he was a bit unhinged. He claimed he was homeless since no one understood him but he was a good guy. And the shelters wouldn't allow him inside with his dog.
He would get into online arguments with other people on Nextdoor. One night, he posted a rant about how if he was really angry, he would shot somebody.
I reported him (anonymously) to Nextdoor. The dude's next post was that he was just joking about shooting somebody.
Did Nextdoor kick him off? Hell no. He continued his sometimes angry posts.
Maybe a year later, he went to a local grocery store and shot someone.
I got banned for posting information about various legislation proposed/pending in Los Angeles or Sacramento.
I generally only posted about legislation that would affect most people - real estate tax, value, rent restrictions, ownership transfers etc. - and it wasn't that often. Most of the proposed/pending legislation was extremely onerous to business and property owners.
Around 2/2020, someone turned me in for posting. And that was that.
I got booted for posting links about masks doing nothing, way early on. It was me and one other guy posting about it, against a mob of screeching Karens and panicking old ladies. One old lady actually responded "NO NO NO NO NO IT'S TOO DANGEROUS!" lmao... sad.
It's a good app for learning that someone in the subdivision isn't picking up their dog shit. Or to learn that people aren't shoveling snow adequately and therefore everyone thinks they should be fined. Oh and not stopping at stop signs, REEEEEEE. All very useful IMO.
All the comments here seem to say it's a place to snitch to HOAs or something, but I always thought it was a place to find a lost pet or find a contractor... Odd... Then again I never used it
Nextdoor just "disappeared" one of my neighbors for daring to post something critical of the vaccine to warn neighbors about the lack of liability. They removed the post and deleted her account.
Nextdoor, the Mos Isley of Karen's across the galaxy.

if(TRUE): print("That's racist!")
I use Instagram for posting memes that get uploaded here and they give you warnings that you’re about to post offense content from time to time
That would make me want to post it even more lol

Boy are the white suburban liberal women in for a surprise.
Who here hasn't already been banned from Nextnag?

It's good I got kicked off 2/2020. Before the whole WuFlu thing really starting rolling.
Since my shelf life would have been similar to a sno-cone on an August afternoon in Death Valley.
I'd never heard of it until this post.
Join and have some fun learning about your thin skinned neighbors.
Also, if you live in CA or another no-ID-to-vote state you can pretty easily figure out who the leftists are and, well....
hurtful to people of color, but use colored people and the entire world shits its pants.
what a fucking shit show decade to be alive in. fuck this.

This looks like an elaborate excuse for monitoring people based on where they live.
Bet you can write something about black people and get flagged, change the same sentence to white people and you will be good to go...
just uninstalled it
I was thinking how could nextdoor possibly know someone was about to post something racist... then it hit me, everything is racist now
Wouldn't that require the app to be racist in the first place?
lol yes, the old saw "it takes one to know one" comes to mind.
I don’t know what Nextdoor is but I can guarantee that I will never use it
hol'up my dude, you about to post something racist?
Nextdoor is actually a good and obvious idea. If it had an actual competitor, it would be finished.
It is not okay to be white.
It is great.
Love all this privilege.
Still need to ask people if I am offending them to not be doxxed, but love all this privilege.

Smh
They already implemented it. At least the third one. I got that message months ago for saying "stupid".
N....I....
