Further, I’d not engage even if there were some type of altercation or crime in progress. I’d ask them to stop and run if they advanced and continue asking them to stop.

If he doesn't, it would be a very good time to ask why.

And the Police are too busy to prevent "peaceful protesters" from burning down the courthouse and police stations to spend significant time investigating the surge in gang murders.

At least one of the insinuations of the prosecution has been that. To take it worth they have implied that cops need to give CPR mouth to mouth. That's a serious problem because it requires both intimacy and a risk to their health.
If you're a cop arresting a suspect who says they have a communicable disease like COVID19 the prosecution seems to be saying you have to give them CPR if they pass out.
Not only a paramedic but also liable for all wrongful deaths on scene in the least optimal medical setting including if you fail to comprise your own safety.

Pensions are almost never the reason anyone becomes a cop, but it's pretty much the sole reason that good cops won't quit over situations like this.

By brother-in-law is a deputy and an arrogant asshole. Last summer he crossed the line with me so I haven't spoken to him since, didn't visit them during Christmas, and only recently started speaking to my sister again in limited amounts. I don't put up with that shit.

This was during 4th of July with the family. He thought I said something to one of his kids that he didn't like but instead of asking me about it in private he blew up at me yelling accusations and even being threatening trying to intimidate me in front of the entire family. If he had talked to me in private first he would have realized it was a misunderstanding but instead he caused a scene. My mom still isn't talking to him or my sister.
