That's odd, but blood clotting from the spike protein can cause a rash which seems more likely.

I read the actual study; it causes flare-ups if you already have herpes. It doesn't give you it by itself.

Scientists in Israel identified six cases in a new study of patients developing a skin rash known as herpes zoster — or shingles — after receiving the Pfizer vaccine

So does the vaccine trigger a shingles flare-up in people who had chicken pox as a kid? Or is the point that they never had chicken pox? I’m a bit confused

Probably the first.

To clarify, this is not the STD herpes but the "herpes zoster" which is a re-emergence of the chicken pox infection presenting as shingles. Like genital herpes, if you got chicken poxs, you got it for life, and it can come back (usually when your old) as a rash called shingles. The claim is the vaccine might be inducing shingles in younger populations.
