Small corrections here. First, these are only being given to the kids being brought to the Long Beach facility, not every kid in DHS custody. Secondly, in order for her to make millions of dollars there would have to be around 167,000 kids at the facility (to make $2m dollars). Last I heard there were only around 14,000 kids in custody.
This is a definitely a boneheaded idea that runs afoul of the emoluments clause, but if you want people to take you seriously you don’t need to exaggerate this much. It still should be illegal.
Even if this was an ok idea, it isn’t, the federal govt could print these for .50/per, or less if they shipped it out to China like everything else (like American jobs). It’s going to get much worse and my original fears seem to be more and more correct.
