It's all about optics. The government did impose lockdown, but also provided the poor with 6 months of free food. Commie media spread fear among the uneducated instead of informing them about the supplies being distributed by the government.
Labourers started fleeing cities in droves and started the crisis. So it could be the government's fault up to some extent, but there wouldn't have been a crisis in the first place if the left (opposition in India) hadn't cried wolf. Their situation is similar to the US where the left would go to any extent to berate the based Modi government.

And similar to how whites are being chastised in the US, Hindus have not only been discriminated against but slaughtered as well for the last 500-600 years by hordes of Muslims/Brits. So the last election cycle was like a pressure release where Modi's Hindu majority party swept across the country and won most of the states, which could have been the biggest winning margin in the history of the country's elections.
So far, he has projected India as a stronger nation as compared to his predecessors and has had foreign policies similar to GEOTUS. Don't blindly believe how the western media and leftist scholars portray India. I think India could be a solid ally to the US as well as Russia against the Chinese if the current administration doesn't fuck it up (which they already have).

Yeah, he has introduced border/immigration reforms that curbed illegal immigration from neighboring Muslim countries, strengthened the army to fight against multiple fronts, has been uplifting the native Hindu population that was being discriminated against minorities, developed infrastructure in 4 years that hadn't been set up even after 70 years of independence and introduced a lot of economic reforms that may be controversial but could be beneficial in the long run.
US and India are similar in many aspects, but as politicians here try to divide people on the basis of skin color, they do that on the basis of religion in India. It looks like the majority is finally waking up to the bs propaganda that had been spreading in India for the last few decades.

Yeah, I'm familiar with some of it. They had a government advertising program trying to teach people to not poop on the streets because it's such a huge problem. People just poop everywhere there.
I had a friend that visited India. He had to take a train into the countryside. When he disembarked he had to poop into a channel in the street and, being a blond, fair-skinned tourist, he drew a big crowd, with children laughing and making pooping noises.
