Furthermore, literally any constitutional scholar will tell you this is an absurd interpretation, because not only was The People exactly what Joe Biden said it wasn't; an abstraction, but it also EXPLICITLY wasn't the government, because this is the document in which The People agree that, for its own benefit, it shall permit the creation of a government that, beholden to restrictions that the document goes to outline for the sole benefit of The People. The government cannot fucking be The People because at the time the paragraph was written it didn't even fucking exist. The People is literally everyone and anyone who isn't the government but is part of the nation. It are THEIR rights that are unalienable, it is THEIR freedom which is sacrosanct. Government officials? Ask most of the people in that room and they'll confidently tell you that the protections of the constitution are utterly alienable from a government official once they act the tyrant, and not even their right to live is sacrosanct; they exist at the behest and mercy of The People.
