When marriage has been weaponized against men, and there are only risks to it, yes it's "wrong" to get married when you have a better chance of calling a coin flip than not getting divorced.
If all the feminist nonsense was taken back out, like "no fault", and there were consequences for the party that actually breaks the contract like there used to be, then getting married would be fine. No one would get into a business contract where one party is always rewarded even if they break it, while the other party is always punished even if they don't break it and yet people still get married just expecting a different outcome because their wife is "different and would never, ever, do that to them!"
I meant it more from the perspective that society, it seems like, is bent on destroying the nuclear family, single parenthood is glorified, and now they're telling us to not eat beef.
At the point in time that 1st Timothy was written it was pretty much the opposite. Men used divorce as a way to abandon their wives and find a new one. This probably also meant that the divorced woman was likely to wind up poor.
Which is why there were punishments put in place to prevent that. Just like there used to be punishments in place to stop a wife from cheating and destroying the family because she knew if she did she would get nothing and be out on her ass for it. If a woman wrecks a marriage like that she deserves to wind up poor and on the street just like if the reverse was true.
There needs to be penalties for breaking a contract. Currently there are none on one gender and that is wrong. Either all penalties, on both sides, need to be removed entirely, which would result in marriage being removed entirely, or penalties need to be enforced on the party that broke the contract, which means dumping the trash fire that is "no fault divorce" and holding both men and women accountable for their actions. When you only hold men accountable and encourage women to break the rules by rewarding them it leads to where we are now where marriage is a joke and the only men that actually participate are idiots that volunteer to be screwed over.
Exactly. It's a woman's duty to have sex with her husband. The idea that it's rape for the man to expect sex when the woman has a headache and never puts out was the beginning of the downfall of marriage. Without enforcing and honouring the duty of marriage all marriage has become is a way for women to extract more money from men.
Interestingly enough, the person who is generally credited with writing that book also himself never got married. His general advice was that married men should stay married and single men should stay single, but he said that's his own opinion not something that the Lord commands.
That's probably who that verse was directed at. Some Jewish people followed Jesus and others did not, so there is a lot of polemic in the writings of St. Paul and in some of the Gospels directed at the Jews who did not follow Jesus. There is also a lot of criticism by Paul of Judaizers, those Jewish Christians who believed that Gentile Christians had to adopt Jewish dietary laws and get circumcised.

Great verse, but not the most accurate translation. KJV for those interested:
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."
Just to be clear, the Bible, and Jesus btw, call the Last Days the days between His Advent and His return.
People have been saying/doing all in the above verses for all of History since Jesus visited us.

Statistics don't care about your beliefs. Any man not going in open eyed is bound to be screwed over more times than not

But I see where you two are coming from
That would be Marxists wanting to destroy the nuclear family, not society.

That is the problem, we need to go back to fault-based divorce laws.

I figured, just pointing out it's hard to use the Bible to rail against dietary restrictions.
Matthew 15:11 works, though
Yes, that is true..

No, faith bomb.

Readers Digest condensed version? Edited of course.
