In my 20s my car broke down on the highway and I had to pull over on the shoulder. I was about 30 miles from home and couldn't get ahold of any friends and family to come pick me up. Cop pulls up behind me to see how I was doing, waited for the tow truck to get there and haul my car to the shop, then gave me a ride back to my house. He wasn't much older than me and we chatted about music and video games on the ride back. I'll never forget the experience

Seems like the state lines are no longer sufficient and the country needs to separate into 2 'districts'. The 2016 presidential election map works kind of perfectly. 90%+ of the red team is in the rural red portion of the map, which is half the country's population, and 90%+ of the other half is in all of those big blue cities. It's a perfect natural split, and then the suburbs can function as social/political borders where centrists can hash it out locally.

The reconciliation process or it's actual name The Budget Reconciliation Process, is a process by which the Senate and the House "reconcile" the budgets that pass in each other's political process. When the House passes a Bill, theoretically, it goes to the Senate for a vote but the Senate generally amends the budget proposals the House bill contains, thus the bill is kicked back to the House. This can become an endless process and a budget never gets passed. A budget should be passed every two years but since Obama, regular budgets haven't been passed. Before Obama, there was a process by which the House and Senate would meet via a small number of lawmakers from each chamber and hammer out details. Then that bill would be voted on with a straight majority, rather than the 60% that it usually takes to pass a new bill in the Senate. By this method, a budget for the next two years would be passed...namely a reconciliation process between the House Bill and the Senate Amendments.
This process was only allowed in budgets because up until Obama, it was considered a necessary and regular part of congressional duties.
In early 2010, a midterm election year, That drunken lout Ted Kennedy died while occupying the senate seat from Massachusetts. The Republican candidate for that now open seat was Scott Brown. Scott Brown campaigned on one issue...that he would vote against Obamacare. He even signed campaign paraphenalia as 41, meaning that Senate would not have the 60% of votes it needed to pass NEW LEGISLATION. Thus Obamacare would fail in the Senate. Scott Brown in a stunning upset won the Senate seat and was off to D.C. to replace Ted Kennedy. However, the Democrats decided to use the BUDGET RECONCILIATION PROCESS to hammer out the details of Obamacare (which they didn't do. It was more like they provided kickbacks and bribes) and simply renamed a vote on NEW LEGISLATION, part of the BUDGET RECONCILIATION PROCESS....All because they knew if the Senate openly voted on it, as they should have, Scott Brown would be the deciding vote AGAINST Obamacare.
Because the Democrats controlled the Senate and they could set the rules of the Senate, the Democrats ended up passing Obamacare through the reconciliation process without a single..not even one.....Republican vote. No Republican amendments or suggestions were even taken under consideration. There was no open debate or hammering out of details in an open and transparent manner. Democrats just put "to be determined by the Health and Human Services Secretary" on everything that wasn't hammered out. The HHSS at that time was the bestie of Tiller the Killer George Tiller a specialist in late term abortion, Kathleen Sebelius. Sebelius herself was an abortion specialist and had spent her entire life working for Planned Parenthood and in late term abortion services. This was the HHSS that was supposed going to read through and "hammer out the details" of Obamacare with complete and sole discretion.
Thus Democrats passed Obamacare with not a single Republican vote and used the Budget Reconciliation Process to do it. Furthermore, Obama's administration never once passed a budget his entire time in office but used "continuing resolutions" and unfortunately, to this day, the U.S. budget is not being passed in the customary two year manner.

The only thing that matters is I make over $100k, pay $35k in taxes, and there is more to take.
I do not want this to happen, but I see it on the horizon. I completely agree, I do not want to throw away my current life. I have built up myself through this system. I have a great career making good money, some rental properties generating income, fun hobbies, and a loving family and friends. I am close to retiring on a warm sunny beach. I do not want to throw any of this away for anything. I have a lot to lose, and I am sure many here do too and feel the same way.
Many of us here have attempted, or accomplished what you have only to have it taken away. This goes back decades. Use what you have to shore up those that defend you knowing many have lost what you have.

In my 20s my car broke down on the highway and I had to pull over on the shoulder. I was about 30 miles from home and couldn't get ahold of any friends and family to come pick me up. Cop pulls up behind me to see how I was doing, waited for the tow truck to get there and haul my car to the shop, then gave me a ride back to my house. He wasn't much older than me and we chatted about music and video games on the ride back. I'll never forget the experience
To be fair the only time I got arrested was also in my 20s when I was driving drunk and I dont take any offense to that officer either. Probably saved my life and stopped me from crashing and possibly killing someone. Plus I quit drinking after that whole experience too. Wish I could look up his name somewhere and thank him.
The arresting officer's name or badge number should be on the arrest report. Unless you've had your record expunged, you'd likely be able to find it searching your own name.

Seems like the state lines are no longer sufficient and the country needs to separate into 2 'districts'. The 2016 presidential election map works kind of perfectly. 90%+ of the red team is in the rural red portion of the map, which is half the country's population, and 90%+ of the other half is in all of those big blue cities. It's a perfect natural split, and then the suburbs can function as social/political borders where centrists can hash it out locally.

The reconciliation process or it's actual name The Budget Reconciliation Process, is a process by which the Senate and the House "reconcile" the budgets that pass in each other's political process. When the House passes a Bill, theoretically, it goes to the Senate for a vote but the Senate generally amends the budget proposals the House bill contains, thus the bill is kicked back to the House. This can become an endless process and a budget never gets passed. A budget should be passed every two years but since Obama, regular budgets haven't been passed. Before Obama, there was a process by which the House and Senate would meet via a small number of lawmakers from each chamber and hammer out details. Then that bill would be voted on with a straight majority, rather than the 60% that it usually takes to pass a new bill in the Senate. By this method, a budget for the next two years would be passed...namely a reconciliation process between the House Bill and the Senate Amendments.
This process was only allowed in budgets because up until Obama, it was considered a necessary and regular part of congressional duties.
In early 2010, a midterm election year, That drunken lout Ted Kennedy died while occupying the senate seat from Massachusetts. The Republican candidate for that now open seat was Scott Brown. Scott Brown campaigned on one issue...that he would vote against Obamacare. He even signed campaign paraphenalia as 41, meaning that Senate would not have the 60% of votes it needed to pass NEW LEGISLATION. Thus Obamacare would fail in the Senate. Scott Brown in a stunning upset won the Senate seat and was off to D.C. to replace Ted Kennedy. However, the Democrats decided to use the BUDGET RECONCILIATION PROCESS to hammer out the details of Obamacare (which they didn't do. It was more like they provided kickbacks and bribes) and simply renamed a vote on NEW LEGISLATION, part of the BUDGET RECONCILIATION PROCESS....All because they knew if the Senate openly voted on it, as they should have, Scott Brown would be the deciding vote AGAINST Obamacare.
Because the Democrats controlled the Senate and they could set the rules of the Senate, the Democrats ended up passing Obamacare through the reconciliation process without a single..not even one.....Republican vote. No Republican amendments or suggestions were even taken under consideration. There was no open debate or hammering out of details in an open and transparent manner. Democrats just put "to be determined by the Health and Human Services Secretary" on everything that wasn't hammered out. The HHSS at that time was the bestie of Tiller the Killer George Tiller a specialist in late term abortion, Kathleen Sebelius. Sebelius herself was an abortion specialist and had spent her entire life working for Planned Parenthood and in late term abortion services. This was the HHSS that was supposed going to read through and "hammer out the details" of Obamacare with complete and sole discretion.
Thus Democrats passed Obamacare with not a single Republican vote and used the Budget Reconciliation Process to do it. Furthermore, Obama's administration never once passed a budget his entire time in office but used "continuing resolutions" and unfortunately, to this day, the U.S. budget is not being passed in the customary two year manner.
