Haha, me too! I don't actually know them. They live about half a mile from me. When I walked over there today I was hoping I might see them outside so I could introduce myself, but no luck. There aren't a lot of Trump supporters here, sadly.

Yes. An extremely liberal enclave, at that. It actually takes some pretty big balls to put up a big Trump sign here. You could potentially put yourself in danger from the woke maniacs that populate the area.
I'm Western CT, around Waterbury. The smaller towns around here are almost based. Maybe 60 - 40 Trump. Not anything to write home about, but not the liberal mess of Waterbury. Speaking of which, Waterbury, for being a city with 110,000 people, isn't as bad/progressive as Bridgeport, New Haven or Hartford. Cuckecticut is full of left-extremist hate, mainly originating from the big cities and Universities.
Anyway, what I was going to say was that I wanted to move to Litchfield one day. Nice, smaller town, full of history and beauty. HOWEVER, after visiting it so much, I've discovered it's a haven of liberal hate from New York. I guess a lot of New Yorkers vacation there or have 2nd or 3rd Bernie homes there. The neighborhood ice cream shop had a BLM sign up. Sad....
I'm moving down South in 1 year anyway. This State can eat a bag of dicks.
I am in the New Haven area, and it is bad here, as you say. I know that Litchfield and Windham counties both went red this past election, but only just barely. It's like you said there are some small towns that aren't completely compromised, but all the power centers are full on raging nutjob progressive.
In my experience the vast majority of the wealthy New Yorkers who show up here are of the liberal, self-hating white variety. The same holds true for the old Connecticut money. They all read the New York Times and The New Yorker and The Atlantic and they think they are so smart and they have NO idea how all of these news outlets have become trash propaganda (they kind of always were, but it's a new level since Trump). They have NPR on in the kitchen all day. They'll put a black lives matter sign on the lawn, but they don't actually want any black people around. They are the true racists in my opinion. They drive Teslas and Subarus and Priuses, shop at Whole Foods, and have exactly zero backbone.
Good on ya for getting out. I would, but I have aging parents and a disabled sister that I need to stick around for. Being able to share stuff on this site helps a lot, as I navigate this wasteland!
