Austin is super left though. Interesting how once they become affected by their policies things start changing.

Maybe we need to start forcing them into diverse neighborhoods too.

Socialismsuckz 64 points ago +65 / -1

My lefties I know in Austin openly complain about the camps, apparently it has gotten really bad. They are totally oblivious that their policies made these people homeless though.

logan34 35 points ago +35 / -0

Its not leftie policy no its Capitalisms fault! reeeeeeeeeee

Cyer6 15 points ago +15 / -0

I worked the polls in the Austin area over the past two weeks. People from surrounding cities were coming in to see if they could vote on this issue. Of course they have to be a resident inside the city limits, but that didn't stop the from trying.

Barbs 1 point ago +25 / -24

You don’t “make” people homeless with policies, lol.

Are you actually romanticizing them into people who are “down on their luck” and just “need a helping hand?” Lol. That couldn’t be further from the truth. 50% of them love the “no responsibilities” lifestyle, so they CHOOSE to be homeless. 25% of them are so addicted to drugs they can’t maintain a normal lifestyle, and 20% are mentally ill.

Only about 5% of the homeless are there because of bad luck, and even then it was their choices that landed them there, not ours.

Our problem is that we cater to those fuckers instead of criminalizing it, but we didn’t create the problem.

Socialismsuckz 29 points ago +30 / -1

No, you definitely do make homeless people because of policies. These policies include voting for tons of social programs which raise taxes and force landlords to raise rent. So while one stands there and votes to “help” out the poor to make them feel like they are helping with out doing anything actually they end up leaving them with no housing. If you talk to most the homeless in the Bay Area for instance you will find they are displaced because of rising rents. While your news and politicians preach “bad evil landlord” they they never mention that $1000 of your rent is going to taxes because you voted for the tax hike. So great your poor people now have free health care but live in shelters with their kids or outside in a tent, then people like you have the balls to talk about “bad choices” and the Nancy Pelosi’s of the world vote for higher pay for themselves that the taxes pay for and live in luxury with the poorest living on the streets. This is what liberals do everywhere they go, destroying cities and dehoming the poorest just so they can vote for more social programs to make themselves feel better. Shame on all of you self righteous pricks.

Exactly

MAGAsJustBegun 7 points ago +8 / -1

I do agree that most homeless people love that way by choice... Not that they want to be homeless, but they choose to get drunk and do drugs instead of being sober and working hard to find a way to save money.

The decent homeless people out there without mental illnesses do not do drugs. They have a nice tent, shower daily, and go to work, and actually save money.

Issue in USA isn't those types. It's the drug addicted, drunk losers who wouldn't take a free shelter and food if it meant that had to quit doing drugs.

Their called zoning laws and excessive permits, retard.

Let me build 2 fucking three families on my plot already!

Edit: And a fucking ice cream stand!

1
Abovethefray 1 point ago +1 / -0

Most are "homeless" because they were kicked out of the homes they had. Mostly for addictions and criminal behavior.

They need to work on improving themselves. Not on my money, tho.

24
Lurker404 24 points ago +24 / -0

Even on reddit people started bitching about homeless camps in lefty cities.

All the leftist bullshit sounds great to people without life experience who have been coddled all their life ... until it happens in their own backyard and they realize what these policies actually mean.

NIMBY

10
nachosamplerREBORN 10 points ago +10 / -0

San Fran: Hold my vegan, organic, say-based, solar-powered, decaf, non-alcoholic, glass of my own fart...they’ve been impacted for years and it keeps getting worse...perhaps it never comes up for vote, but I can’t imagine even the most left of leftist being OK with it in their front yard. Yet, there SF is.

5
loric4882 5 points ago +5 / -0

Too many people here in SF make big money off the homeless problem.

2
MamaLlama4DJT2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

Bingo, it’s a profitable problem

6
WU_HAN_FRU 6 points ago +6 / -0

All we need is the return of good times and easy living for Austinites to start voting for lawlessness, degeneracy, and poop on the sidewalk again.

41
Fuckyourusername 41 points ago +41 / -0

They love their policies until they have to live under them. Then they hate it but never change their original opinion. Libs are fucking insane.

21
FreedomStuff 21 points ago +21 / -0

This is exactly why the Right needs to leave the Left to its own desires.

The only way a left minded voter will ever change their mind is by suffering the consquences of their own poliices. The right should not rush in to get into the middle of it. Just watch and see , and wait Not bail them out of a jam, not feeding them when they go hungry.

Only thru suffering can anyone see the light.

23
JokerPede 23 points ago +23 / -0

They'll never do that though. As soon as Austin goes to shit they'll move out to another city with greener grass and start shitting in the grass and complain there is shit in the grass.

4
FreedomStuff 4 points ago +4 / -0

A good portion will die from the consequences, so they can't go on forever

4
ChinaAreNazis 4 points ago +4 / -0

They can still vote tho, so Demonrats don’t care.

3
SuddenlyClintoned 3 points ago +3 / -0

My thoughts exactly.
Nobody is trying to save Portland, Seattle, NYC, etc. Just quit moving to better cities when you fuck your own up.

Respect to those that grow up and change their thinking. But if you're gonna keep voting the same, go back and sleep in the bed you made.

2
Wrexxis780 2 points ago +2 / -0

They should be forced to live in their shitholes for a minimum amount of time (5+ years) before they can leave and spread it elsewhere.

33
JwPATX 33 points ago +33 / -0

The city government unilaterally created a huge problem out of a desire to virtue signal about how nice they are to the homeless, and rather than fixing it as unilaterally as they created the problem, they put it on the voters to be the bad guys. Shitbags all around.

6
censorthisss 6 points ago +7 / -1

And they probably still won't actually enforce it

2
Nopa 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need to give Adler a one way ticket to Gitmo

1
JwPATX 1 point ago +1 / -0

Wynn’s the one who set the ruination in motion, and the city council/city manager share a lot of blame too, but yes Adler sucks.

Put the Homeless in DC

9
Pepe4Freedom 9 points ago +9 / -0

Might encourage the government to stop letting 100s of thousands of illegals in, and maybe fix the homeless problem in America?

4
Induceddrag 4 points ago +4 / -0

DC has had a massive homeless population for decades. What I have noticed recently is more tents under overpasses and bridges, camps on the MD side of the Potomac NW of Georgetown. I would assume there is a big population in Rock Creek Park, as well.

Where's the Alex Jones response? I recall his tour of Austin with a Crowder a long while back where he choked on bum piss.

13
TonyTreehouse 13 points ago +14 / -1

GOP backed? Austin isn't 87% GOP from what I hear. Meaning Texas is still Texas for a little while longer.

10
Pepe4Freedom 10 points ago +10 / -0

It's going to be interesting if they start forcing welfare recipients into the suburbs. I wonder if it'll cause property rates to crash, and crime rates to explode?

16
AbsoluteChad 16 points ago +16 / -0

Austin is left. The suburbs are not and they will be met with serious resistance if they try this. Virtue signaling will never be more important to suburbanites than their property values.

5
Pepe4Freedom 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think if recent events have shown us anything. It's that the Dems do not care at all what the people want. They'll push through their agenda. And if they meet resistance, they'll just change the rules so that resistance is crippled. Eliminate a fillbuster here, stack a court there, change election rules. Conservatives have this problem where they think they can just keep moving further and further out.

10
CoreyAnder 10 points ago +11 / -1

There’s already a nationwide push to end single family housing and allow multi housing to be built in the same subs. Of course that new housing will most likely be made up of section 8 housing leeches that deserve none of it. Expect arson cases to explode when this starts happening.

This, they want every place to look like eastern europe (and to some degree western too), russia, china... and it really sucks

2
OPsMom 2 points ago +2 / -0

They are all the way to Congress sleeping outside the Starbucks. I used to work at 6th and Congress, the mental illness at times can be scary. People literally screaming at others about stupid shit just trying to draw attention because everyone walks around their shit. Their literal shit lying in the middle of the sidewalk is an everyday obstacle of you plan to go out for lunch. Haven't been there since Corona started, but I can't imagine that helped the situation.

1

E 6th or dirty 6th?

Cause e 6th is still pretty grungy

5
ravioli_king 5 points ago +6 / -1

So is the alternative they go to homeless shelters where they can be protected rather than out on the streets in camps? or do they just say time to get out. Can't stay here? Or do they just ship them out like oh Wyoming gets 10, Montanna gets 10 like that?

11
WinsomeWonder 11 points ago +12 / -1

There are 3 kinds of homeless people.

One set is mentally ill. They often refuse to go into shelters because their delusion tells them these are bad places.

One set is drug addicted. They often refuse because sobriety is a requirement for entry.

The last set is families down on their luck. Often shelters split up the families, so they tend to stay on the street instead.

While they all have reasons to refuse shelters, it creates a public health problem when you have needles and human poop everywhere. Criminalizing the homelessness provides police with tools to force them into shelters that would be unused.

3
bOObs 3 points ago +5 / -2

Destroying their tents/houses and confiscating their possessions they can’t carry, probably. And some of those folks are literally on their deathbed. Legit US citizens, sometimes veterans, who got less luck in life than others.

No sane person wants to end up in the shelter (theft, violence, rape).

Sorry for recommending YT: maybe check out channel Invisible People, tons of interviews with homeless, first hand knowledge.

I've watched that channel. The channel is optimistically naive about people. That guy is not recording the ones that are off their fucking rockers. Unfortunately, complete and total compassion for the homeless ironically creates more homeless people.

Imagine you own a business. A restaurant, or a store. It's a nice area, but then the homeless think so too. And they start putting their tents there, and begging, and shitting on the streets, and doing their drugs -- what will happen? Your fucking business is going to go under, and then you'll have to join them!

Fuck the tents. Tear them down, and tell them to take a hike. In the meanwhile, try to come up with a program that actually works so you can help them long-term instead of doing things that screw everyone over.

The ones that voted to keep the homeless camps should open their homes to them.

Prisons, jails, public housing

Of course their mad, half of them live in homeless camps and the other half doesnt want them to ask if they can move into mommy's basement

4

False

87% refused “Strong Mayor” which didn’t let Abbot me an ass without management

We voted 59% that homeless couldn’t camp, “Prop B”

4
Nunyo 4 points ago +4 / -0

What?

3
Nopa 3 points ago +3 / -0

There were several props on the ballot. Banning camping in the city limits was passed 60-40. Something of a blowout for an election on May Day.

1
Banick088 1 point ago +1 / -0

"Strong Mayor" - Gives Mayor authority over city managers - Passed with 87%.

Prop B - Got rid of homeless camping - Passed with 59%

Still amazing, just correcting the OP

Isn't it sad that this is an actual headline.

Homeless camps I guess now they are just normalized and your RAYCIST and Homeophobic (thats homeless-phobic not homophobic. Sorry gays the left needs that word to push its political agenda. Most of you are white anyways so fuck off the left only cares about trannies and gays who like young boys) if you don't suppor homeless camps.

Can't wait for the media to start saying being against homeless camps is Russian disinformation and its all Trumps fault or something.

1

So what, the left is always pissed about everything, all the time. Nice to see this in far-left Austin.

NIMBY for the win!
