So, unfortunately, the ONE place I haven't been able to get around or circumvent wearing a "face covering" (I use a fishing buff/gaiter only) during all of this has been Publix and BELIEVE ME, I've tried and pushed it to the limit everywhere and anywhere I have been able to.
They (like any other grocery store in a 100+ mile radius, to be fair) have been absolute mask Nazis; you can't walk in the door without getting swarmed and insisted to put one on under threat of trespassing, there was just no win there. Alternatively, you can use a grocery delivery service, but without getting into it, that's even worse. You want food, you have to comply.
That is, until today!
As soon as Governor DeSantis announced that he was signing the executive order immediately suspending all local and county orders, I couldn't wait to go shopping at Publix!
After my regular Monday was over, I went to my local Publix, walked in, grabbed a cart and started shopping. Of course I was the ONLY one in the store without a mask, which made me even happier as I stared down random cucks, Karens and assorted NPC's.
Went to the deli counter, ordered my cold cuts, got cold looks, kept on shopping.
Halfway through my trip, a manager noticed me and said "Sir, did anyone give you a mask? Would you like one? I can get one for you."
I said, "Nope! No thanks! Don't need one! I appreciate it though!" and kept shopping.
"OK, that's fine, just thought I'd offer" he said as I ignored him.
A few aisles later, one of the employees stocking the shelves said "Sir! Mask!" tugging on his own. I said "No, I'm good!" and kept shopping.
A few more angry NPC eyebrows from random Karens throughout the rest of the store and I was ready for checkout.
Went to the checkout and put all of my stuff up when the girl noticed I was GASP! not wearing a mask! She said "Sir! You HAVE to wear a mask!" I replied, "No. No, I don't."
She insisted "But you hav..."
"NO!" I interrupted. "Governor DeSantis has suspended ALL mask orders. It's OVER!"
Unbelieving, she looked back over her shoulder at an Assistant Manager that happened to be there and he nodded at her that was in fact, correct. He whispered something to her and she nodded and then proceeded to check me out without any further protest. I'd like to imagine he said "Don't fuck with that absolutely correct and accurate Chad" or something to that effect.
She begrudgingly continued to scan and bag my groceries, with angry NPC eyebrows the entire time, giving me a sarcastic "Have a great day" afterwards. The Assistant Manager that was behind her and helped to bag my things was more cordial and friendly saying "Have a good one!" after they were done.
I did, indeed, have a good time, triggering masked up NPC's.
God bless Gov.DESANTIS
I've never worn a mask in Publix in Florida
You must live in Dade or something
Broward =/
Employees wore them. Havent been to Publix today but no employee at the CITGO had one one .
In Pensacola, went to PetsMart / Banfield to take the pooch in for her 6 month checkup. Before checking her in, the guy told me to put a mask on, I hung it on one ear. Lady next to me, in a mask, laughed her ass off. Mask Nazi didn't say a thing, he knew he was going to lose that battle. Lady next to me took hers off.
WINNING
IT’S OVER!
This is the day they’ve been dreading. When they lose the little bit of power they had over people.
This is me.
It's super entertaining. Better than anything on the electric brainwashing box.
I stood maskless and uncomfortably close to a double masker today for the lulz. It made my morning.
I had an old lady at the grocery store checkout ask me not to stand so close to her. She said she's been vaccinated, but she can still spread it. So I backed up quickly and said "Thanks for warning me. I don't want to be around any vaccinated people". She didn't know how to react to that lol
That’s fantastic 😂 😂
This is so weird for me, it's like an episode of twilight zone. I just went to a county fair over the weekend here in GA. It was great, everyone was just about their business as usual. I saw 2 groups of people wearing masks and that was it. Everyone else was enjoying freedom and having a good time.
I suppose it's just because of where I live. I'm sure they're crazy in Atlanta, but I don't have any interest in spending time up there.
I'm glad you've got some of your freedom back.
Yep I was in Alabama and it was similar, Florida is definitely worse about the masks but the rural areas and panhandle were pretty similar to Alabama
Probably why they say the farther north you go in Florida the more south you get.
It also shows how effective the media is at spreading fear. People fall into group think. If they see everyone around them, and everyone on tv wearing masks, they'll keep their mask on. Probably why the city people are more easily swayed by fake news.
Use a hidden camera next time. The results will be hilarious, and deserve to be documented.
Its really simple.
Them: "Sir do you need a mask?" You: "No thank you I'm good" Them: "Sir you have to wear a mask" You: "No I don't I have a medical exemption" Them: "Oh, and whats that?" You: "None of your damned business unless youd like to be sued for harassment and viilating HIPPA law." Them: "No need for all that sir. Sorry to have bothered you please enjoy your day."
The mask has become a lot of people’s pacifier. I went to our Publix here in Pasco County on Saturday and about a tenth of the shoppers were maskless. I bet even though DeSantis relaxed the law there will be folks with these face diapers forever.
Could you imagine NOT ripping it off and never wearing it again one NANOSECOND longer than having to? People are fucking CONDITIONED.
Absolutely. Gov Abbott got rid of the mask mandate months ago and people in Texas STILL wear them everywhere. Funny thing is, it’s usually the higher income and/or “diverse” areas who are the mask nazis.
Ha, sounds like a great day!
Wtf part of Florida are you in I've been here a month and gone to a few publix stores and never once worn a mask and no one has ever said a word to me
Broward county fren
