Y'all remember when that guy showed up in a TX church with a gun, and like 5 people pulled their guns out? One of them shot the criminal.

Guns save lives.

My mistake lol. What about silver/white gun lives? They matter too right?🤣🤣🤣

14
JimzeBMk1 14 points ago +14 / -0

Of course they do - being in the UK, I can only dream of having a desert eagle - but trust me, when I become a citizen, that’ll be my first gun purchase.

8
FuckU/Spez 8 points ago +8 / -0

You don't need to be a citizen my friend, as long as you are a permanent resident you are good to go!

6
JimzeBMk1 6 points ago +6 / -0

Is that so? That’s good news for wannabe gun owners like myself, but in terms of making sure that only America first candidates get into office, I’d need to be a citizen for that.

6
bill_in_texas 6 points ago +6 / -0

Is there any possibility that the citizens of the UK can bloodlessly get their God given, natural right to own firearms back? Seems like if y'all elected enough people on that platform, you could vote to re-legalize responsible gun ownership. Is this just a pipe dream?

I wonder about Australia and New Zealand as well. Can they not vote to restore their own freedoms?

7

1
vegaspatriot1776 1 point ago +1 / -0

as long as you are not buying the desert eagle .50 cal. that would be a total waste of money.

1
MauserShooter 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don’t waste your money. No one keeps that gun for long.

3
StronklikeBull 3 points ago +3 / -0

Had mine for decades.

Don't shoot it much, but I bring it out for other people to shoot anytime I bring it to the range because EVERYONE wants to fire it.

On the other side of the coin, I've never seen anyone who could afford a collection vs the kind of person who wastes money selling his iron and trading it around like a fool sell a Desert Eagle.

To each their own.

68
Great_Gazoo 68 points ago +69 / -1

Unarmed people are being shot. The solution can not be more unarmed people.

Cops can not stop any mass shootings they haven't stopped one yet.

More people with guns is the solution, concealed especially because no one would know when it's safe to start shooting into a crowd.

47
Pinochet_Was_Right 47 points ago +48 / -1

That motherfuckin’ G in that church shooting proves that. Dude pulled his gun out and was domed a second later while the parishioners pulled out an arsenal — including granny from her handbag.

God bless Texas

13
GlacialSpeed 13 points ago +13 / -0

Most churches (at least in the south) have groups designated as security teams that are armed and train for these scenarios.

IMO the answer to most gun issues is training, training, training, and easy access for citizens to have them at all times.

16
Pinochet_Was_Right 16 points ago +16 / -0

Yup

90% everyone I know who is against guns knows nothing about them and has no contact with them — let alone ever shot one.

6

I wonder if before guns there were rabid anti-sword advocates.

3

Dont know a single person who's gone shooting who is anti. And I've taught more women than men.

2
yuge_covfefe 2 points ago +2 / -0

Gun safety should be taught in every school. I heard a stat once and don't remember the number but some incredibly high % of Americans will come into physical contact with a gun at some point in their lives. Like them or not, people should know how to use them and I truly consider it a(nother) failing of the public school system that they don't. That it'd remove a lot of the stigma around them is just a bonus.

2
IntrepidBurger 2 points ago +2 / -0

They wouldn't even have to perform. Just their existence would deter criminals, once it became an established norm.

Criminal mass-murderers go for soft-targets.

I would say the more open carry the better. Better to prevent the event than trying to stop it. If everyone open carried mass shootings would go to shit. Sure the odd couple of bozos might kill each other but car accident happen too lol.

1
Great_Gazoo 1 point ago +1 / -0

I like a bit of mystery. As it is now in the USA it takes an average of 1 week of scouting before a burglary. It takes so long because burglars don't like being shot or at the least they understand the risk. Compared to the UK where no one ones guns and everyone knows it. They break in while everyone is home and use a bat or a scary axe and rob them.

Not everyone is going to carry and that is fine. But then that odd occasion when no one is carrying. A potential mass shooter could easily see no one is armed and take over. If everyone is allowed to conceal. The unknown is part of the equation.

Education on firearms needs to be front and center of every single community/school/church - I don't care how/where but its the best way to reach out into the gun culture and train these kids/men/women on firearms. Simultaneously because we're a lean party now, get a feel for where kids stand. They've been shoved into safe spaces and told to wear face diapers. If those kids don't have any positive influences at home, then lets fill that void with education. Guns relieve stress and are literally better than sex, sometimes.

Laying 200-300 rnds down range from any belt fed machine gun is literally heaven. I miss that shit every single day. Kids need to know it IS a tool for self defense. Just like how I train my kids, 'if daddy pulls his gun out hes prepared to use it. It's not meant for intimidation, its a tool to level the playing field in a unknown world.' The more training and 'comfort' on firearms; we will see a lot of this unnecessary violence disappear. People kill people, not guns.

2
Gonzotron5000 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need burglary free zones duh.

8
MasklessMarvel [S] 8 points ago +8 / -0

it allows private businesses to establish them but not the gubmint

5
Cyer6 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think they'll keep many of the restrictions that are in place for carrying under the Texas LTC.

Can't carry in poll places. Can't carry where there is proper signage at the entrance. Can't carry in certain government buildings etc.

I don't care, we just need this to go through and Abbott is expected to sign it.

3
GiveMe1776 3 points ago +3 / -0

8

Fuck yes, if he wants to get reelected. Texan here.

5
Mark4-39 5 points ago +5 / -0

Also Texan, and I'm not sure he's gonna get reelected even if he does sign. His handing of covid, free speech, and the electrical grid fails are not going to be forgotten.

6
Cyer6 6 points ago +6 / -0

News around Austin said he is expected to sign. He said he would also sign a 2A sanctuary bill if sent to his desk so I'm sure he'll sign this. Not signing it would put the final nail in his coffin.

3
WarViper1337 3 points ago +3 / -0

Most likely he will. He has been actively pushing hard for gun bills that follow the constitution as well as backing another bill that bans some but not all federal gun laws in Texas.

8
ThirteenPercenter 8 points ago +8 / -0

Guns make for good neighbors. I teach my kids “be polite, don’t ever walk into a persons back yard without permission or enter a house without permission, don’t lean on someone’s car. Don’t start a fight with a stranger unless it’s absolutely necessary, because YOU NEVER KNOW WHO HAS A GUN.”

7
Facebooks 7 points ago +7 / -0

If everyone had a gun there would be no such thing as mass shooters

6
anon3030 6 points ago +6 / -0

False Flag in TX immanent. Gotta push that gun control somehow!!

6
CykaSoaker76 6 points ago +7 / -1

First passed by the House, then passed by the Senate with amendments. Now it goes back to the House, and if they agree with the new bill, they send it to Governor Abbott to sign or veto.

Naturally, it's Wheelie that I'm worried about.

What a fag. The anecdotal story of some dumb blonde looking down the barrel doesn't negate hers or any other persons need to protect themselves from psychos playing stupid games in public. Offer a free training course with purchase if you're really concerned. Don't inhibit a reasonable persons right to purchase a protective instrument by denying sale or mandating a govt tax.

1
dldeuce 1 point ago +1 / -0

And that's exactly what the CHL laws do. Did you read the New York "good cause" gun case and amicus briefs, particularly Missouri's that has been accepted by SCOTUS?

Three arguments caught my attention.

  1. "Good cause" intentionally limit's the 2A to a fraction of the population. So do CHL laws.
  2. CHL holders only commit a tiny fraction of crimes, therefore good cause is too strict. CHL holders only commit a tiny fraction of crimes because just like good cause, you kept a huge portion of the population from every considering carrying a gun. Also, I wonder how many crimes are committed in Texas by non-CHL citizens who carry legally in their car?
  3. Defensive gun uses save thousands of lives per year, therefore restricting access to guns works against the government's interest in safety.
  4. Rational basis review is bad.

You can't restrict gun access and maximize defensive gun uses at the same time without a rational basis review. CHL laws are exactly that. Only, there was never any real rationality. Even if Texas gets it wrong, again, hopefully SCOTUS will give us something on "good cause" that will empower us to go after Texas 46.02 that bans our 2A on it's face.

that's another codicil that is included in the law
