All it took was a few pictures of Chinese people politely setting their bags down, laying down in the street with their arms nice and straight by their sides, and posing for pictures with someone in a paper painters suit standing over them, to instantly condition the majority of the population into wearing masks, staying home, ratting on their friends/family/neighbors for breathing fresh air, etc.

I was about to say the same thing. I've considered doning on a PAPR when they stop me at the door for mandatory masks, instead of arguing and walking away. There are 2 ways to deal with the clown world. Call them out on the BS or give Trader Joe's the benefit of the doubt, that there is a real killer virus all over their store, and then walk back to the car and get actual respiratory protection, come back and thank the man at the front for giving me the heads up about the dangers in the store and he most definitely just saved my life.

One of my (many) brothers years ago worked in an industrial setting/factory, one segment of which had the sealed-off painters doing their thing, with an easily-accessed ventilation tube connection at the entry to the room. Said brother then and to this day has SuperHero-Level godawful flatulence that would cause cattle to stampede from a feed lot and would blast a few choice BRAAAAPS into the tube every now and then after a heavy night of Budweiser intake topped off with pickled eggs, crab cakes, cabbage. Hilarity ensued.
