As a Christian American I agree that it is not anyone's place to approach someone else's child with a translated/ interpreted Bible without the parents reviewing that Bible for themselves and approving it first. Family religion belongs in the family, sometimes trying too hard does make you cross a fine line. Many Christians oppose anything but the AKJV and don't agree with translated/interpreted Bibles.
The Bible is the most important book for understanding civilization. Anyone who hasn't read it are functionally cultural illiterates. It is not simply a book of family religion. Any school that doesn't teach the Bible fails at educating.
