I told him the number of adverse effects for COVID vaccine is higher than ALL the side effects of other vaccines in the last 20 decades, but he keeps parroting the same line “it’s just as same as flu shot.”

I also told him it’s mRNA/DNA vaccine, completely different from traditional vaccines, and long term effect has not been fully examined, but he doesn’t listen.

Then he goes all “to get the COVID vax is a patriotic duty, a greater good for all of us.” The rationale behind that claim? “It’s the only way to herd immunity. The government tells us to get the vaccine, which means it will be good for our society, our country, our community, and for all of us. If you care about others, their well-being, the best thing is to get the COVID jab.” Also he says he will accept literally anything if it’s COVID jab, whether it might be J&J, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sputnik, or whatever.

What should I tell him? How do I convince him otherwise?

The government tells us to get the vaccine, which means it will be good... for all of us.

Sorry, but your father sounds too far gone.

Jimmytraficantsghost 20 points ago +20 / -0

Your dad is a communist and when the time comes he will turn you in and you will be sent to a work camp. At best. He will get extra rations or something else trifling for betraying you

Morgoth 10 points ago +10 / -0

Unfortunately probably true.

Sorry to say OP, anyone that actually trusts their government that much is not to be trusted implicitly.

Not saying don't love him just maybe don't ever show him this site.

As time goes on i find myself identifying with the Know Nothings and the Whitecaps. Fuck it i was pushed to it.

Remind him of the 1970's Swine Flu and the rush to vaccine people. There is also the fact that a typical vaccine would take 10-15 years of testing and validation to come to market. There is also the fact that we (the people that get jabbed) have not legal recourse against the pharam companies if there are adverse affects to the vaccine. There is also the fact that you are probably at almost 0 risk of death, and those people that feel they are at risk and want to get the vaccine can. I am not against getting vaccination, but I am not going to get an experimental vaccine for a sickness that real is not a risk to me. Those that are elderly or unhealthy should get the vaccine as it might be helpful for them. I might take it a couple years from now if necessary.

Agent_355 3 points ago +3 / -0

Also, the fact most of us have been exposed already and had no symptoms. Herd immunity is here.

Adolf Hitler said it was a patriotic duty to slaughter Jews.

nankingRoastie 2 points ago +3 / -1

Ouch thar jews are virus reference

conservativefrank 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's what it is now. Don't get vaccinated - can't work. My job has sent a survey - have you taken the virus, or are you planning on taking it? They haven't announced yet, but the next step is no vaccine - wear a mask. "Look at that masked idiot. He didn't get vaccinated." The next step will be get vaccinated or not allowed to work.

I mentioned it at work yesterday.

Me: "Vaccine or you must wear a mask - that's the gold star. Wear the gold star if you're a Jew. The next step is take away your job."

Co-Worker: "Or become paranoid."

3 seconds later - another co-worker walks over: "Have you checked your email? The vaccine survey is in there - you have to upload your vaccine card."

Next Step - non vaccinated people to medical camps for the safety of others.

Where did he say that? I've read a good part of his book I never read anything he said about killing anyone.

Under the guidance of the Reich, Europe would speedily have become unified.

Once the Jewish poison had been eradicated, unification would have been an easy matter.

France and Italy, each defeated in turn at an interval of a few months by the two Germanic Powers, would have been well out of it. Both would have had to renounce their inappropriate aspirations to greatness.

At the same time they would have had to renounce their pretensions in North Africa and the Near East; and that would have allowed Europe to pursue a bold policy of friendship towards Islam.

Tell him DDT was sprayed on children because it was for their health.

Tell him they used to treat acne with radiation because it was harmless.

Tell him they knowingly gave World War II vets syphillis to study the effects on humans and continued with the experiment even after the cure had been discovered.

Tell him to take his duty and shove it up his ass.

Vallenwulf 7 points ago +7 / -0

Show him the headlines of countries banning the vaccine outright.

VoltronGreen1981 7 points ago +7 / -0

Tell him that questioning the establishment and the media is everyone's patriotic duty.

ItCameTrue 6 points ago +6 / -0

Tell him you agree, fluff his ego, and recommend a great podcast called Steve Bannon’s war room.

Check back in six months to see if the demoralization process is reversed.

NeverKnewBetter 5 points ago +5 / -0

Tell your dad was real patriotism means to you. It's not following authoritarian orders, but rather embracing your freedom to think for yourself, critically, as promised by our constitution.

hereticpatriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

Tell him Fauci just testified that half the people at NIH and CDC have said no to the vaccine. Very telling isn’t it.

ivi4yh3ivi 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you cared about the well being of others, you would get covid to create natural herd immunity. That's what would have happened if we didn't shut down. Your dad's CNN version of herd immunity is a dumbed down definition for, surprise, dumb people.

After contracting it, Sars version 1 has shown to give years of immunity(10+ years). If you care about virtue signaling and helping Pfizer make money, get the jab. Then get the jab again next year because the immunity the "patriotic duty" vax provides only lasts 6 months.

It's actually a cowardly move to get the vaccine. The reason the virtue signalers are getting the vax is because they think it will prevent them from going to the hospital. They don't care about the greater good. They want to mitigate their risk of getting hospitalized.

If your idea of patriotism is blindly dong as you're told, you might be a Nazi.

You have to be blunt.

Smooth_Kahuna 3 points ago +3 / -0

Remind him that we live in America, you may not agree with what he says, but you will defend his right to say it.

impera 3 points ago +3 / -0

It doesn't give any sort of immunity, the manufacturers even say as much. And every single talking head in the media tells this lie and pretends otherwise because it is an appeal to society and social responsibility. Which is probably why it connected with your parents, coming from a generation where societal good was common sense and self-evident as being very necessary.

If anything, it looks like it increases your chance of getting the china virus, not makes it less.

So the "Caring about others" is a bullshit line of reasoning. If they really cared, they would put their foot down and not meekly be submitting themselves and their loved ones as lab rats.

FayGrogs 3 points ago +3 / -0

My mom keeps harping on about me getting it, despite the fact each time she does I remind her I've already had the wuflu so what would be the point. There are people that want to get it more than me so I will let those in need get it first.

Getting a government forced vaccine is going to lead to government forced vaccine passports, which is going to lead to government forced social credit systems. And for that reason alone I am out. I couldn't give a fuck about any of the side effects of the vaccine on a personal level, the fact the government are pushing it is enough for me to go nope.

Luckily a bunch of my virtue signalling friends already sent me photo's of their vaccine cards so if all else fails I'll just print a mock up and tell every one I got it to keep the peace.

FayGrogs 3 points ago +3 / -0

The mad part is, both my folks are pretty based, I've popped home for a couple of weeks to help them out with a bunch of stuff, and my dad will keep just announcing shit he's currently reading in the paper or about some new conspiracy of his. about how the government wildly inflated the figures to start with, which I agree with but then I'll go into why, and start making it rain facts and figures about social distancing and how masks don't work, and his mind is blown, then me and him will go food shopping and before we leave; mom will ask if I've got my mask, then just outside the store my dad will ask too. Despite half an hour ago both of them acknowledging masksare pointless.

I don't think we will know what it's actually like to be their age til we get to their age.

Torrvarpen 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ask him how that's supposed to work.

There's nothing patriotic about blindly following government orders, especially not when the government is a bunch of socialists who stole the election.

forth3win 3 points ago +3 / -0

Tell him only %1 of the people in Japan have taken the vaccine and they haven't had it worse than any other country...i.e. the vaccine doesn't make a difference either way. Explain Japan....they are literally the proof that the vaccine doesn't mean anything.

Jestre 2 points ago +2 / -0

Saw that stat. Its actually clickbait. Only 1% had both doses but more than 1% have had the vaccine. Its not red pill material because you'll be called out on it

BettyBlue76 1 point ago +1 / -0

Do you know why they have taken such a different path?

Global_Tornado 3 points ago +3 / -0

Tell him the vaccine is unnecessary and dangerous.

Tell him he has a duty to his family not to die from bloodclots and compromised immune system. That's he only wants the vaccine because he's been cowed into fear by the media, and you can't respect a coward. And taking the vaccine means goodbye forever, because you won't expose yourself to the spike proteins he will emit.

Forcing people to take a medical treatment is not patriotic.

patriotswinning 2 points ago +2 / -0

Shove the CDC vaccine stats in his face. Say "when the people who know theosy about the disease are all vacx'd then I'll get vacx'd"

40-50% of FDA and CDC employees are declining to be vaccinated.

Tell your Dad that there's a difference between a republic and a democracy. Aristotle said that every form of government has its decayed state. (Monarchy, aristocracy and republic decay into tyranny, oligarchy and democracy.) In a republic, individual rights are respected and defended. In a democracy, mob rule prevails and the "collective" is stressed.

As we shift away from a republic to a democracy, you will have people mouthing phrases like "It's in the public interest," or "The Greatest Good for the Greatest Number".

These phrases come from the teachings of Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill in the early 1800s in England. They advocated for a school of philosophy they called Utilitarianism. (Interestingly, Immanuel Kant used the term "utilitarianism" for the opposite of "ethical".)

Bentham used the term “utilitarianism” to mean “That which is useful,” and he sees its end-goal as “providing the greatest happiness for the greatest number”. Citing Bentham’s ideas as being rooted in Epicureanism and hedonism, Alisdair MacIntyre (in "A Short History of Ethics") comments, “Concepts like pleasure and happiness are stretched and extended in all directions, until they are used simply to name whatever men aim at. By this extension, they become useless for evaluative and moral purposes. . . . An example is the choice between devoting resources to health services or devoting them to penal reform. But it is necessary to emphasize that the Utilitarian advocacy of the criterion of public happiness is not only a mistake. That it seems so obviously the criterion to be considered in certain areas of life is something we owe to Bentham and Mill. The concept of happiness is, however, morally dangerous in another way. For we are by now well-aware of the malleability of human beings, of the fact that they can be conditioned in a variety of ways to the acceptance of, and satisfaction with, almost anything. That men are happy with their lot never entails that their lot is what ought to be. For the question can always be raised of how great the price is that is being paid for the happiness. So the concept of the greatest happiness for the greatest number could be used to defend any paternalistic or totalitarian society, in which the price paid for ‘happiness’ is the freedom of the individuals in that society to make their own choices.”

Tell your dad that Thomas Jefferson said that the only legitimate purpose of government is to protect INDIVIDUAL rights. Not "collective rights" in a paternalistic or totalitarian society.

America is a republic.

Your patriotism is predicated on that basis.

It is literally treason to the republic to join those who scorn individual rights and lobby for "The Collective". Medical martial law is NOT patriotism. Our founders believed more in "Live free or die". These are the values for which they fought: Not a "paternalistic and totalitarian society" run by unelected technocrats.

Bigblue725 2 points ago +2 / -0

That zuby post yest was so good.

Something like the darkest realization wasn’t the government overreach, or the bastardization of science. It’s that a large percentage of my fellow citizens would turn against me if told to by an ‘authority’

TheTudes 2 points ago +2 / -0

Just drop the subject and tell him you love him.

Then go outside for a stroll.

brundlefly777 2 points ago +2 / -0

How do I convince him otherwise?

You really can't. The "patriotic duty" bit sounds regurgitated from the news, so it's not likely he's prepared to engage with anything you say logically.

You may, however, be able to get inside his head by turning the moralizing back on him. Something like it's evil to suggest I have to put something in my body or wear a piece of clothing to suddenly make everyone else feel at ease. It's also incredibly evil, not to mention un-American, to suggest my freedom of choice simply dried up overnight because the news told you so.

Bogey 2 points ago +2 / -0

Something isn't patriotic because the government tells you it's for the good of society. "Patriotic" citizens in Germany and the USSR proved that.

Patriotism is love of the people and culture of a nation. It's not subservience. Nobody has the right to set a demand as a test of that love. Someone who says "if you truly love me..." is seldom truly testing love.

Picador20 1 point ago +1 / -0

It was the patriotic duty of a million young men to die in combat over the last century. I wonder how many vaccinated people have already joined their ranks unwittingly. How many more may follow?

Badwubs 1 point ago +1 / -0

Greater good is code for genocide we dont wanna think about think "hot fuzz" and trying to guilt people with patriotism is exactly what every genocidal regime has done throughout history
