I do not have kids. I always say sounds nice in theory but not sure how much I'd enjoy it in practice. I'm older- getting to old now... most friends are married/kids but a few aren't.

One that isn't is ALWAYS talking about how kids are overrated and think how much money it cost and blah blah blah... and I always think to myself, you really wish you had kids, don't you? lol. Like you said, it's a tell.

The people I know with kids tell me not to have them. Maybe it's more of a reflection on them but I'm pretty good with my choices and don't bring it up until someone else does.

Wow...I can't imagine telling people not to have kids. If anything, I tell them to start earlier than I did. I'm going to be 52 when my son graduates high school. I envy my old classmates who have kids that are already in high school. More active, healthy years with both kids and grandkids!

But seriously, if folks say don't have kids, they had best be joking. They are the most wonderful thing ever and really put all of life into perspective.

Yea, my parents had me late and now I'm reaping the "rewards". They are both gone.

Unfortunately mine wasn't for lack of trying. Took us forever despite years of trying.

Yeah, in my early 20s I asked my dad when he stopped feeling like a kid/teenager and started feeling like an adult, and he said the day I was born(first born). Now that I have kids, it's like a huge partition in my life. Basically like living for yourself vs. living for something more than yourself.

Ha - I’ll be 57 when my last son graduates high school. Took a long time for me to break through the programming. Nothing is more important than family.

Kids are strange because you don't really know you want them until you have them. I suspect it's partially instinct and hormones that don't come into play unless you have kids.
