Way ahead of his time.

TruthyBrat 131 points ago +131 / -0

Correct. McCarthy was right. He was proven right by Soviet archives opened up for a time in the 1990s. M. Stanton Evans used those archives as the basis for his book:

Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America's Enemies

And nice sticky-worthy OP.

Much more than Snowden.

Snowden would have been Epsteined if he could’ve done even half of the things that McCarthy was able to accomplish with the power given to him.

The Fight was bigger than he knew...

And while we defeated the USSR . . . We never defeated the "CULTURAL MARXIST" - and they have continued to roll forward in our Nation... in our schools and universities, in our businesses, and churches too and especially in the Democrat Party and in Government.

We tried:

Communist Control Act of 1954

Still on the Books too.

But we did not group Communism/Socialism/Marxism in with 18 U.S. Code CHAPTER 115—TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES

And that is something that should happen.

You can find the book online and it's really tragic in how China could've been what Taiwan is now. The late Stanton Evans said as much.

I've commented on McCarthy before here, basically he was much later to arrive on the scene. There's another book by Diana West, American Betrayal, that lays out the perfidy of what went on during WWII. US was basically Stalin's stooge because FDR's admin was full of Soviet agents.

Marxism is a goddamn hydra of bad ideas. It's like a virus that infects the stupid and turns them into zombie hordes.

Yeah, you have smart crooks too, but when have smart crooks not manipulated stupid hordes?

OGpsywar 20 points ago +20 / -0

Marxism - the form of government so awesome that it has to be forced down people's throats at the point of a gun, murdering a hundred-million of them when they don't like it, before it fails and everyone eats their dogs and cats.

?? Try It Today!

logan34 7 points ago +8 / -1

Marxism is an easily infected mind virus because it taps into inner divisions of human tribes rich vs poor and have vs have not: then it covers itself with the utopian promise of equity and equality for all so it’s a enticing idea that the gullible and stupid fall for in every generation. And in every generation it must be fought and defeated or it crops up again and again.

War_Hamster 4 points ago +4 / -0

Marxism was taken directly from Hegel, and the Hegelian Dialectic is fundamental to all of the modern "isms".

Learn your enemy.

NotAnotherNPC 2 points ago +2 / -0

Except Americanism

War_Hamster 2 points ago +2 / -0

Good point, but Americanism isn't modern.

It probably needs to be, though.

Make Americanism Great Again.

War_Hamster 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm stealing that. It's a great slogan for our Constitutional learning classes.

DontArkancideMeBro 4 points ago +4 / -0

It’s not intelligence per se, it is Evil.

Envy. Covetousness. Theft. Murder.

It’s not new to mankind at all, and if the nation looses its morality, this is exactly what you get.

A nuclear family with mom and dad is portrayed as evil, while two dudes that literally play in each others shitholes is portrayed as awesome and good.

I’m ashamed that it has only taken a few generations to turn us into the present mess we are in.

Woe unto them that call good evil, and evil good.

Long_time_lurker 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's like a virus that infects the stupid and turns them into zombie hordes.

Combined with the addicted who form the drug slave armies that vote for the commies to have the government subsidize their drug habits, well... we kinda are dealing with an ideological plague here.

Toughsky_Shitsky 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's beyond pathetic at this point.

Joesf23 3 points ago +3 / -0

At this point nothing will shake their loyalty to "Q" even though worst case scenario it is an internet larp psyop created by cia or best case scenario someone who was a staffer for trump and wanted to try and gin up moral support while everything was going to shit due to deep state commies. Either way, psyops and cults do not save nations.

phandaal 26 points ago +26 / -0

Our modern interpretation of "McCarthyism" is proof that Marxists won and control our narrative.

It wasn't hysteria like we've been taught - it was a true and actual outing of Marxists taking over in academia, media, and government.

In this case (and every other case), history is written by the victors. I.e., Marxists.

conservativefrank 9 points ago +9 / -0

McCarthy wanted Soviet operatives out of government. He didn't want to out the people, just remove them from government positions.

BringTheCat789 -6 points ago +2 / -8

I disagree. I think McCarthyism was wrong then and it is wrong today, but I think the concept today doesn't apply to calling someone "communist". The parallel today is actually calling someone "racist."

Take a moment to read the (((Wikipedia))) entry for McCarthysim, but mentally replace all instances of "communist" with "racist" and you'll see the parallels of today are uncanny.

I firmly believe that power swings back and forth like a pendulum, on many different scales. It's clear who had more power back then, and it's clear that the pendulum has swung and the other side has the power nowadays. But the tactics remain largely the same. And accusing everyone you disagree with of being (something bad) is an effective tactic.

The good news is that America got past McCarthyism then and the power swung back, ultimately allowing the real communists to gain some footing. The same will happen now with this modern version of McCarthyism, with the unfortunate caveat that the real racists will also gain some footing. We can pray that one day the pendulum will settle, but it will likely never happen.

phandaal 11 points ago +11 / -0

This is not a matter of "agree" or "disagree." McCarthy was right. He caught the Marxists. His only problem was he didn't win in the end, and the Marxists who did win painted him as a hysterical extremist once they'd taken control of the government, media, and academia.

If the modern depiction of McCarthyism seems similar to the actual "ism" hysteria we see today, it's because Marxist propaganda deliberately portrays it that way.

pallman 5 points ago +5 / -0

Can you name one person that McCarthy falsely accused simply because they disagreed with him?

Just one

billswinthesuperbowl 23 points ago +23 / -0

He continued to speak against communism and socialism until his death at the age of 48 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, on May 2, 1957. His death certificate listed the cause of death as "Hepatitis, acute, cause unknown"

The champagne socialists were always the biggest threat. They had all the time and money to create conflict here while the economic middle class was being eroded by their work. The apathetic previous generations starting around this time also helped them by taking their benefits and sacrificing later generations.

Joe McCarthy was right about commies.

We should treat them like the moslems treat the homos.

DeplorableCentipede 6 points ago +6 / -0

Holy shit. This was written in 1947, and it was plain as day to them back then.

As you know, a few of our boys start a ‘front’ to oppose fascism or intolerance or something else that is unpopular. They get a few big names to back them. After we get those names, we are ready to go get prominent left wing speakers and give ourselves plenty of publicity. Naturally, we plug the party line from start to finish, and the people never look behind the “front”. Pretty soon they’re supporting us.

There are here and still there are people who refuse to see what is right in front of them.
