I don't know who down voted your comment! You're correct. Two different wars and military doctrines and approaches. People saw the carnage for WW1 and said, "fixit!"

During WW1, massed formations, carrying bolt action rifles charged across barren landscapes covered by (new-fangled) machine guns.

WW2 saw the use of the greatest weapon ever, the auto loading M1 Garand and generals that used tanks and aircraft along with improved infantry assault tactics, example being CPT Winter's assault at ~St. Marie Eglaise.
