fun fact about BMW - Bavarian Motor Works used to make engines for messerschmits, the blue in the original logo is the sky, the white is a propeller. LUFTWAFFE

TeachingHistory92 [S] 82 points ago +83 / -1

100% correct......they should be cancelled! lol

74
Hedonismbot 74 points ago +74 / -0

Or they should reopen production lines because an inverted v12 supercharged engine sounds glorious.

I wish I had a spare 3-5 million to pick up one of those old warbirds.

27

No doubt their engines sound awesome.....their straight v10 today sounds great.....but fuck them woke krauts lol

2
Hedonismbot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Saw an old WW1 Rotary bird last year in person, castor oil in it too. The guy narrating the airshow said that pilots sometimes reported feeling a little "buzzed" after the flight.

Wild too because it used an on off magneto to modulate the power, so it was constantly being switched on/off in flight, and turning on it looked like a super chore, especially because the turn characteristics were totally different left v right.

Actually it was a Daimler-Benz in the Bf109 messerschmits(inverted supercharged)....The bmw radial was in the FW190 fighter. But yes they sound sweet as hell!

6
Salty_KGB_Agent 6 points ago +6 / -0

Absolutely correct Sir! The BF109 Used The Daimler-Benz 601 inline, and the FW190 Used the BMW801 Radial engine

3
FloppyDisks 3 points ago +3 / -0

The later versions of the fw190 with a longer nose cowl switched to the Daimler as well...

2

The latest (and best) D models switched to supercharged Junkers Jumo 213 engines, as did the Ta-152.

Yep. They were part of the Nazi trade union. Their logo prior to 1939 was the current "vw" surrounded by a stylized swastika.

I’m not saying they didn’t (and for the record I don’t give a fuck that they did) I’m pointing out your boomer Facebook “fact” about the logo is bullshit.

3
JustTheNews 3 points ago +8 / -5

bmw said themselves they love the publicity behind that "myth" they also said they have been rolling with it for decades......now that it is not popular to be a nazi or even have a past associated with the nazis , they change their narrative.

8
booblitchutz 8 points ago +9 / -1

Lol, let’s see some source on BMW saying they “love the publicity behind that myth”.

Is your ass getting sore from pulling all this bullshit out of it, yet?

11
LordCommissarYarrick 11 points ago +11 / -0

The blue and white is also representative of the Bavarian sovereign lineage of Wittelsbach. It's like a lot of these people haven't bothered to crack open a history book or the third reich is the only thing they know about germany.

As a first generation American whose family was victimized by the Nazis, I find nothing funny about your pathetic attempt at humor. We're not Jewish---but my family had our farms, livestock, and possessions stolen by the Nazis (under the doctrine of lebenstraum, or living space, they have stolen land and goods to Germans, to "repatriate" the territory), and then spent years in "displaced persons camps" for Baltic peoples, and were forced to do slave labor for the Nazis. All because the Nazis bought into this EXACT same garbage pushed by Ford, who gave a copy to every employee. Maybe YOU should take a walk...

probably, the fact of the matter is, everything else is true regardless of whatever the logo stands for, they are not the company to virtue signal because their past is very very very rocky.

1
WhiteTrashJesus 1 point ago +1 / -0

The shape of it is supposed to look like a spinning propellor because their origins are in making airplane motors. Just like Lincoln

3
hansgruber7 3 points ago +3 / -0

Could be. I've seen conflicting reports on that. At any rate BMW and the logo precede the Nazi regime by decades since both came about in 1917. So I think the original point is a little misleading. Also, the blue and white are clearly from the Bavaria flag which goes way back.

Fun fact: Volkswagen was basically founded by Hitler.

From Wikipedia:

Volkswagen was established in 1937 by the German Labour Front (Deutsche Arbeitsfront) in Berlin.[5] In the early 1930s, cars were a luxury – most Germans could afford nothing more elaborate than a motorcycle and only one German out of 50 owned a car. Seeking a potential new market, some car makers began independent "people's car" projects – the Mercedes 170H, BMW 3/15, Adler AutoBahn, Steyr 55, and Hanomag 1.3L, among others.

(...)

In 1934, with many of the above projects still in development or early stages of production, Adolf Hitler became involved, ordering the production of a basic vehicle capable of transporting two adults and three children at 100 km/h (62 mph). He wanted a car every German family would be able to afford.[7] The "People's Car" would be available to citizens of the Third Reich through a savings plan at 990 RM (US$396 in 1938 dollars)—about the price of a small motorcycle (the average income being around 32 RM a week).[9][10]

deleted 14 points ago +18 / -4
25
Ishayu 25 points ago +27 / -2

Unfortunately he was also a rabid socialist.

The state shouldn't be founding car companies.

But it is very clear that Hitler cared immensely about the well-being of the German people - but he surrounded himself with some true monsters and lost control, as dictators so often do.

Ishayu 13 points ago +13 / -0

I do think that's overstating the case, but certainly a lot of Nazi ideology survives to this day, in my opinion generally for the worse.

But... nobody really knows what they are. The only thing people are taught about Nazism is that it's bad because Hitler's regime murdered and conquered and... that's pretty much it.

I don't think even one single member of ANTIFA know the policies of Hitler or Mussolini. If they did they'd change their stance on a great many things.

3
acasper 3 points ago +3 / -0

But Alexander is a great guy and Napoleon is alright too. Gotta love hypocrisy in education.

2
Knowbody 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't think even one single member of ANTIFA know the policies of Hitler or Mussolini. If they did they'd change their stance on a great many things.

You can tell it to their faces, and they'll just deny it.

2
Ishayu 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep.

And what makes this all so dangerous is that, because people don't know what Nazism is, they don't know it when they see it.

And what makes this problem especially bad is that a lot of historians have lied about what Nazism and Fascism are that when they adopt it themselves they have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

So you got these anti-fascists running around talking about how important it is to be a socialist and create struggle based on ethnicity, race, and gender - which is EXACTLY what Hitler did - but also conservatives bad for being Hitler... like these people are just incredible.

EDIT: Seriously, anybody's ever read the fascist manifesto? It's right here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_Manifesto

Just stare at it and realise in horror what the leftists actually are... they're advocating for nearly it all.

Lower the voting age, proportional representation, remove the senate (or make it powerless), listen to the experts and scientists and give them immense soft power (hello Mr. Fauci), mandatory working hours, mnimum wage, mandatory unions, early retirement... they've got it all.

And the founding fathers cared about the Americans. The ones that they perceived to be a part of their country. Not anyone else really.

0
Ishayu 0 points ago +1 / -1

Well you see... he didn't actually murder the people he considered Germans.

He was deranged and confused in the extreme, no doubt about it, but he was definitely patriotic, too.

9
ThorsonTT 9 points ago +10 / -1

The NAZIs had big ideas, but they were Socialists. Their poor management coupled with socialist controls lead to terrible shortages despite an abundance of resources. The only nation that produced more coal than Germany in WWII was the USA, yet Berliners were freezing in the winter because the railroads were so poorly run they couldn't transport it.

2
WhiteTrashJesus 2 points ago +2 / -0

They were not socialist like that the reason they didnt have enough coal is because they were fighting a war in their own vicinity.

2
ThorsonTT 2 points ago +2 / -0

They WERE that kind of Socialists. Here's a great video on the subject: https://youtu.be/O3JaxXK25qo Typical Socialism. People filling positions of authority because of party ties and not ability. If Germany hadn't gone to war they'd have been a (twice) failed state in a generation because: Socialism. NAZI era Germans had to constantly endure shortages of goods for the same reasons you and I are experiencing in the present.

2
WhiteTrashJesus 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is an interesting video. I agree with what you said but it still was not that kind of socialism. They took over control of all the industry necessary for war because they were planning to go to war. They felt that they had to do that in order to secure their people but yes it is a shitshow when you do that. This is far less communist and far less cringe than letting people freeze in Texas because of imaginary climate change and also far less retarded than killing anyone who owned a horse or a tractor for the benefit of the proletariat. It's authoritarian populism where the population is an ethnic group

2
ThorsonTT 2 points ago +2 / -0

Aryan Socialists, Eco Socialsts, Affluent Socialists. All doing the same things for the same goals. They all want to be god/king/emperor/fuhrer, and everyone else is just an expendable slave. Texas suffered from appointments of eco socialists and their chicom masters. Hang them all.

11
IncredibleMrE1 11 points ago +11 / -0

Yep. VolksWagen translates to the "People's Car." It's pretty ironic how it became so popular in the years after WWII.

Also, most liberals are completely unaware that VW is literally the Nazis' car. If you ever meet one that owns a VW, inform them of this factoid and enjoy the REEEEEEEing.

6
Ishayu 6 points ago +6 / -0

I think it's one of the strongest rebukes of socialism.

Capitalism: Same company, set free, succeeds on a massive scale

fun fact about BMW: I use to work in the automotive industry surveying new car buyers. Woke corporation’s asked us to add a question asking if the survey respondent considered themselves to be apart of the lgbtq+ community. The question was completely optional. A survey respondent got asked the question and was obviously triggered by it. He ended up contacting the governor of South Carolina who then got him in contact with the CEO of BMW. The CEO reached out to my company and was like you need to remove this question as it “doesn’t represent the BMW brand.” I laughed because this was right after pride month where they actively sponsored at parades and shit. We decided to screenshot everything and send it back to the CEO. Saying sorry we’re keeping the question in but maybe you want to talk to your marketing team. His response was something along the lines of we have to do that to appease the lgbt community. It was then I realized that this world is made up of weak willed men and people who won’t stand up against the mob.

8
Basedsliceofwinning 8 points ago +8 / -0

Most CEOs didn't do anything to build the company they are in charge of, they just got in after it was already successful and relatively self-sustainable, then they pretend to have good ideas and be nice.

But they'll never do anything that requires balls. Just whatever they can to keep themselves in charge with 100s of millions per year in salary as long as possible.

In my time working for different corporations (all you've heard of) where I've met higher ups, I came to realize that they are some of the most overrated and mediocre people around. Their mind so warped by being able to snap their fingers and get what they want that they don't even know how to make coffee.

7

Why did the retard who capped this highlight the picture blue?

Did they think we would miss the picture? That it was hidden in all the clutter?

4
PelosisFattyLiver 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think it's taken from r/politicalcompassmemes where the users highlight each portion of a meme a different color to show which political ideology would make each statement in a meme. It's one of the last places on the cesspool that is reddit where right wingers openly mock the lib left and are upvoted for it.

2
ObviatingTyranny 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sounds retarded. We all know, left and right, who would say what. LOL

Thanks for the explanation though, makes sense. I figured it was Grampa Memer doing his 5AM graphics magic while he sipped his coffee and planned a day of polishing the lawn mower.

2
PelosisFattyLiver 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's not just left vs right, it's the 5 different sects of the political compass test (if you include centrism as an actual political opinion) taken to the extreme via memes. Some of them are pretty funny. I see stuff from that subreddit posted here all the time. Basically any post with entire sections highlighted red, green, yellow, and blue, or a combination of the colors is taken from that subreddit.

https://i.redd.it/ip1ec7p1gfz61.png

Here's an example of what I mean with the color highlighting. Gray is centrist, blue is authoritarian right, yellow is libertarian right (which most people on here are), green is libertarian left (the true soy cancel culture leftists), and red is authoritarian left.

Volkswagen, Messerschmitt, Benz, Bavarian Motor Works, and you can go through Japanese Companies like Nissan (was Datsun), Toyota, Canon, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Subaru were all war machine manufacturers in 1930-1945 era. I always thought the baby-boom children of the greatest generation were FAR TOO FORGIVING by purchasing those products. Lincoln "forgave" the DEMOCRAT TRAITORS that supported slavery after they list the Civil War. America is always turning the other cheek. If anything, TRUMP's AMERICA FIRST policy was about AMERICA PUTTING ITSELF FIRST for a change. The globalists used to using Americas blood and treasure as if it were their hat rack finally got old and Americans embraced Trump. The leftist globalists hate that.

BMW made engines that almost conquered all of Europe. They should be proud of that.

Volkswagen made an economical vehicle that modernized life for millions. They should be proud of that.

So ready to see Germans quit cucking about their history. The Nazi regime is a piece of history....a major one. Stop being so ashamed of it.

It’s been getting weirder than usual lately looking up some things. More and more are getting to isis/liberal level of destroying history. A lot of things now say “WWII German” in referring to Nazis. I was last searching for a tropical/Hawaiian web belt for golf when totally unrelated “WWII German” belts were coming up which is partially where I’m coming from in my observation

1
eddedandedamame 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ok but was it EAST WWII German or WEST WWII German? Lmao

Another great response would be Sarah Silverman's Jewish People Driving German Cars skit from back when she was funny.

The only thing that I agreed with Sarah Silverman about was Jewish people driving German cars.

Those things are junk anyway. They fall apart, the interiors are outdated and quite uncomfortable, and you can hang up working on it at home for many things (profit engineering at its finest). I looked deeper into them shopping for a car last year. BMW, Audi, Benz, all horrible over time. Think about how many 10+yr old models you see on the road. Hardly any. I went with what I knew was best, Cadillac. Cost the most in its class but for good reason. Rant over, thanks for your time.

I love the performance and handling but my 335 was broken down like 1/4 of the time I had it.

Get a diesel

1
LibtardsAreTrash 1 point ago +2 / -1

I like the 335. Classy and lots of power.

2
RedditIs4Retards 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup 306hp twin turbo and mine was all wheel drive so I was going wherever I wanted. Easy to chip also. I want a 535 diesel next.. If I get a BMW again.

1
gillonba 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's because you got the 335. Sure the power and noise are great, but the N/A 328 will get you where you're going every time

1
RedditIs4Retards 1 point ago +1 / -0

I didn't buy a BMW for a commuter, that's what my Camry is for lol

1
gillonba 1 point ago +1 / -0

You spend far too much time commuting to spend it in a horrid little eco box. Besides, if you're going to get a second fun car, may as well get a proper sports car

1
RedditIs4Retards 1 point ago +1 / -0

I didn't get a sports car to not be able to use its performance while stuck in traffic to and from work lol. The Camry is fine it's a 2016, has better mileage, and never breaks down. Cheaper on gas as well since I don't have to use premium, and requires oil changes less often.

Not my experience at all. I’ve had 2 BMWs and both were pretty spectacular, even as they aged. Had a pretty little 3 series for a long time, bought it used and held up quite well, only ever had minor maintenance.

Now I have a X series I bought used, manufactured in America, solid car, big nasty twin turbo V8 that is going to get me in a lot of trouble sooner or later. Had it for years and it’s still great.

Both are by far the most solidly made cars I’ve ever had. Most cars now feel like cheap shit when you interact with them. I am perplexed by your comment about the interior, I guess it’s personal taste, but I like the more minimal look of the BMW interior as opposed to the super busy, plastic shit everywhere look. The BMW has the simple wood accents and elegant lines going for it. The seats are more like you’d expect on a performance car, not as pillowy as a luxury car, because that’s the basic idea of the BMW, it’s a mix of performance and luxury

Not for everyone I suppose. If you want pillow seats and perfectly smooth ride (that will be less stable at higher speed) then yeah a caddy is a better choice, but better be careful with your speed on those turns!

1
LibtardsAreTrash 1 point ago +2 / -1

To clarify I'm not shitting on beamer owners, it is like you said personal choice. And yes, although the Caddy has upper and lower strut bars, battery in the trunk and a couple other 'performance' what-nots (it's a CTS) it is sloshy around curves. Very heavy vehicle. I don't drive it like I stole it though. I have another car for that but at my age speeding (etc) isn't something I do very often.

1
WhiteTrashJesus 1 point ago +1 / -0

It’s not bmw owners it’s bmw owners whor eally can’t afford to own a bmw and buy one anyway that are the problem. It’s all about that mindset etc

booblitchutz 0 points ago +1 / -1

Totally, driving a caddy is super comfy. The accelerator is very smooth and the steering is so easy and it's very quiet in the cabin and you don't feel the road and the seats are amazingly comfortable. If that's what you're into then for sure it's the best option for the money.

The BMW "feel" is definitely a lot stiffer and tighter. The steering is tight and the accelerator is snappy, and you definitely feel the road more and the seats are meant to keep you in place as you handle tighter corners, but you can take curves at high speed with confidence and it just feels like a fast car. I like the feel personally, but my wife hates driving my bmw, and I admit for long distances it's not the best option, but it is fun to zip around in and feels so sporty.

The caddy also can have some firepower under the hood, but it doesn't feel like a fast car when you drive it, it feels like a big boat.

I've never driven a BMW 7 series, that's supposed to be their full size luxury car. I would imagine it's a lot smoother and quieter.

WhiteTrashJesus 1 point ago +1 / -0

The problem is buying a bmw or mercedes with 90k miles for $5-10k and expecting it to not cost $10k in maintenance. It would be worth a lot more if it wasnt fucked. Also in the united states parts and labor are expensive because theyre foreign

2
booblitchutz 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you're maintaining it for 90k miles, it's hard to imagine being in that bad of shape. I wouldn't buy a used car that was such a loser, regardless of the make. A bmw in good condition at 90k miles will cost a lot more than $5-10k!

1
WhiteTrashJesus 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s what I’m saying someone who is a “baller” buys it new on a loan and doesnt change the oil and beats the shit out of it and then goes to the mechanic and they say oh you need so and so itll cost 10k so they ditch the money pit and find a sucker to pick it up when its really worth negative

1
WhiteTrashJesus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also aftermarket modifications fuck them up badly they are designed as a precisesystem which is why you have to take the whole thing apart for simple repairs often

4
the-new-style 4 points ago +4 / -0

They were solid 80s cars with a deserved rep.

Then they reduced quality (and therefore the cost) but not the price.

Standard operating procedure.

Interesting that you chose Cadillac. The older BMW's are collectable, but they are simpler to work on.

0
LibtardsAreTrash 0 points ago +1 / -1

In a previous life I worked on countless Caddies and other GM's so that was a decent part of it. I also find the Caddy more comfortable than anything German and the aesthetics more appealing. In the same class the Caddy had far more N/A horsepower, I didn't want a turbo or supercharger. I do love the old 3 series BMW's though.

1
rossiFan 1 point ago +1 / -0

I do love the designs that Cadillac is coming out with. The Escalade, to me, is still bougie ghetto.

1
LibtardsAreTrash 1 point ago +2 / -1

You're right. I consider the escalade a fake caddy, just a Tahoe with caddy symbols. Like when they have the avalanche caddy symbols. Gay

My father was a BMW/Mercedes Master Technician outside of Boston (Lexington), I grew up around them in the 70's, 80's, 90's and early 2000's before he was forced to retire. I'm fond of the engineering of the "older" BMW's - the E12's, 32's, 34's, E38's. I was never a fan of the diving board look on the E28's and anything post 2001 seems to be a travesty of design until mid-late 2010's or so. You can fix the early cars without replacing parts. Now? Now they're nothing more than every other manufacturer - easier to replace the part than to fix the issue that caused the failure.

Doesn't matter to me, though. I'm still a sucker for the way they drive. Even after all these years.

1
TDAF 1 point ago +1 / -0

Imma let you finish, but E28 was one of the greatest Bimmers of all time.

While we are at it, did you guys know that IG Farben, producer of Cyclon B during WW2 produced and applied the anti graffiti coating for the holocaust memorial in Berlin? In a nutshell -> IG Farben --subsidiarty--> Degussa --subsidiary--> Degesch (Cyclon B) -> Protectosil coating and memorial construction.

"On 14 October 2003, the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger published articles noting that the Degussa company was involved in the construction of the memorial, producing the anti-graffiti substance Protectosil used to cover the stelae; the company had been involved in various ways in the Nazi persecution of the Jews. A subsidiary company of Degussa, Degesch, had even produced the Zyklon B gas used to poison people in the gas chambers. "
