Definitely go to a local credit union asap. Even if you move, you can still bank with whatever credit union is there. They're essentially all connected if they're on the same branching network.

If you know where you want to move to, your local credit union now can tell you if they are networked with any credit unions in that new area you will move to.

Do you understand how your credit score is determined? Getting a loan in your credit mix would boost your credit if you are rebuilding.

You don’t need credit if you live a Dave Ramsey lifestyle ?

25
johnzo73 25 points ago +25 / -0

Dave Ramsey is the way! Do not borrow money for anything other than your primary residence. I'm almost debt free now since I began the Total Money Makeover and I was deeply in debt when I began. My house will be paid off in about 8 years now. It feels good to have no paymemts besides my mortgage. If the SHTF I don't want to owe anyone anything.

I dont know if i am just doing things wrong but I have been burned by credit unions and "local banks" a number of times. I find they have barely better or even worse interest rates and less features to their service most of the time. I had one claim they would never sell my mortgage....they sold my mortgage. On paper they are probably technically better but i have never been blown away by anything i have seen so far in my life.

5
TexasFox 5 points ago +5 / -0

No bank hold on to the paper. They are always wrapped up and sold to investors on the market so the banks can clear their credit books. They will usually still service it or hand the servicing over to an affiliated company so they get the service fees plus the upfront intrest from selling the paper.

7

No relation to WEF Klaus Schwab right?

10
Darkheartisland 10 points ago +10 / -0

No relationship. Charles Schwab is pretty self made for being in finance, he never held a job at a bulge bracket firm and started his business as a newsletter.

7
BigIgloo 7 points ago +7 / -0

Their trading platform is boomerific though, one of the worst UIs in existence, and they will sell your options if they don't like how much risk you're taking.

Great checking account to use globally though if you travel a lot.

I'm not sure if you guys are talking about the same thing I'm thinking of when you say credit union.

As far as I can tell, my credit union is just a much smaller bank.

27
sully 27 points ago +27 / -0

They're different. You can read about Credit Unions vs Banks here. https://www.investopedia.com/credit-unions-vs-banks-4590218

They are, but it's like saying a mom and pop store is just a smaller Amazon.

CU are generally not for-profit corps and they are directed by the members. They have lower fees, better interest rates, but fewer products.

So you support an organization that is intended to benefit you instead of supporting BofA that gives 1 billion to BLM or WF that wants to rape America.

13
REDMARAUDER 13 points ago +13 / -0

Credit unions are some of the last remnants of true free markets. Prior to the 40s-60s a lot of different industries had mutual aid organizations for things like banking, Healthcare, retirement, defense.

Fuck corporate Socialism

6
AppalachianTactical 6 points ago +6 / -0

Ive used my credit union and a bank. Only use my local credit union now. They offer so much shit to protect you from fees that banks normally rape you with.

My money actually grows even if i dont touch it for years in the credit union. In the bank they come up with little excuses to pinch your savings.

2

Most credit unions aren't big enough to want to fuck with anybody. Even a small boycott can damage one pretty quickly.

Now the really big CUs (Like CA's Golden 1 CU) might be able to go woke, but most cannot afford that kind of bad press.

6
deleted 6 points ago +6 / -0
8
Pickles 8 points ago +8 / -0

My cousins in Arizona use a CU named "America First Credit Union", I think that's pretty bad ass!
Just my input on investments and asset accounts, I use Schwab and manage everything myself, which I love doing, but if I was someone who didnt want to research and put in time with investing, i'd open a ROTH IRA and contribute the max each year (currently $8k per person) and use it to buy a mix of ETFs and Mutual Funds. You don't need $5mill to retire, it'd be nice, but $500k will provide you a nice $30k-$40k per year in growth and dividends if you get a modest 6%-8%

8
Annpi 8 points ago +8 / -0

I'd suggest not putting all your money in one credit union. My CU froze my accounts for transferring my funds to Coinbase. I dropped them now use two separate credit unions....

4
LibertarianXian 4 points ago +4 / -0

Same here. Cut soda out 3 weeks ago. In that time, I've had soda maybe 2 times on a whim, didn't really care for it. Nothing but coffee, water, club soda, and mineral water. And iced tea without sugar, homemade, lemon.

Soda is the worst thing you can put in your body. One of the worst things.

12
Annpi 12 points ago +12 / -0

Facts.... I realize I was a conservative only AFTER I stopped drinking soda....

4
Carry_Your_Name 4 points ago +4 / -0

Or make your own lemonade at home if you have a sweet tooth. Just squeeze out some damn lemon juice, cook a pot of sugar syrup, mix it together and then add more water. The Cooking Foodie just posted a video about that a few days ago.

3
zooty 3 points ago +3 / -0

You can even just buy the lemon juice if you want. If you just want a little flavor in your water, you can drop the sugar and keep the lemon low enough to be palatable.

I switched from Coke Zero to Pepsi Max (Zero) a few months ago, but I'm not giving up my soda. And bitches that play the HFCS argument immediately out themselves as non-soda drinkers to begin with.

6
FireannDireach 6 points ago +9 / -3

"I'm not giving up my soda".

You have an emotional attachment to soda. You might want to explore that with some therapy. It's water with fake sugar. But here you are, being aggressive as fuck even thinking about not drinking it.

Shit's not healthy, pede.

4
Nameless_Mofo 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, I drank coke for decades, and I don't want to argue with you because everyone is free to drink what they want. But even though it's sucralose instead of sugar, it still tricks your body into manufacturing insulin, which is what makes you gain/retain weight.

I find mineral water with gas to be pretty satisfying if/when I want something with some fizz for whatever it's worth.

I may or may not work for WF. I hate their politics and virtue signaling garbage. Like all other large banks, they're not a morally sound company.

With that being said... something isn't right about this. If they just closed her account for no reason, I'm going to grab my pitchfork. But there are a lot of "legitimate" innocuous reasons accounts can be closed, like a negative or zero balance for an extended period of time, bad check deposits, account compromise. Stuff like that. I'm going to see if there's a way for me to look into it without being flagged, but we'll see.

Regardless, fuck em.

25
War_Hamster 25 points ago +26 / -1

I may or may not have worked for several Wall Street banks.

If this was an isolated incident, your skepticism would be merited, but it is part of an ongoing pattern. There are dozens of examples that I know of. It's not just Wells. It's all of the big banks and even payment processors.

7
REDMARAUDER 7 points ago +8 / -1

The problem is her story doesn't match what they did to the Proud Boys. They were given about a month to switch banks and their balance was never fucked with.

This sounds suspiciously like she never had a positive balance. I'm too skeptical of females grifting from conservatives after the Lauren Southern bullshit

7
War_Hamster 7 points ago +7 / -0

Fair enough, but I have heard examples of arbitrarily shutting down accounts with no notice. It definitely does happen. I've actually seen one example first hand where a Conservative 501c3 got cut off with no notice and it did some lasting damage.

The GoFundMe f*ckery is worse, though, because you completely shut down a cause when it's hot and that opportunity cost is tough to quantify.

4
BaronFalcon 4 points ago +4 / -0

the Lauren Southern bullshit

Wait what?

4
CrispyQuesoSalami 4 points ago +4 / -0

Because they've been given carte blanche to start persecuting people.

Banning them from the public square was step one, now they're going to start closing people out of the financial market, and the job market.

The AG's statements today were the green light if there had been any confusion.

3
War_Hamster 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's not the first green light, but somehow, even our broken legal system has forced many of them to walk back these policies.

They'll keep trying.

Also, I think the AG's statements today had more to do with trying to intimidate us into stopping our grass roots efforts and especially the audits. It'll have the opposite effect, judging from the reaction I've seen.

3
CrispyQuesoSalami 3 points ago +3 / -0

I hope you're right. Its getting spookier by the day.

Even if there was a reason, that reason can be whatever they want. Even if they can make it be a justified reason like her being put on a terrorism list, then its only a matter of time before all non Democrat serifs and elites get put on that list. Even if we are wrong, the fact that the facts point us in that direction is already beyond terrifying.

1
UrShulgi 1 point ago +1 / -0

Adding to the list of reasons:

-AML (anti money laundering) risk. Where you repeatedly deposit money under 10k, of inconsistant amounts, and then transfer it around to other accounts at other intitutions without any easily traceable source of funds. This could be this guys issue if he's at a smaller operation that pays him through like venmo or some shit, or he gets a cut of sales with varying pay rates.

-Account risk. Like if you go negative, stay negative for a while then eventually bring it back current. They get tired of the risk for an account they're not making money on compared to the negative balance risk, so they can close it.

My advice is drop PayPal before they drop you and hold your money for six months.

1
REDMARAUDER 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yes but they were given a month or so to find an alternative and more importantly their balance didn't go to $0.

Be skeptical. We have grifters who can't balance a checkbook

67
Sylvester1212 67 points ago +67 / -0

I reported the same back in November. They literally closed my account for no reason after years as a customer. I sat in my local bank managers office for hours as she called around trying to find out why and no one would tell her why. She was thought it had to be a mistake but it wasn't. I'd donated to Trump , Rittenhouse , and PBs out of the account. That was my high crimes.

23
Amaroq64 23 points ago +23 / -0

I've heard they have a bunch of SJWs in their account reviews department and they axe at will if you are giving to the wrong places or even shopping at the wrong stores. At that time the only social media Is ever had was Parler and wasn't that active there. I'd also left a Google review about employees wearing BLM attire but I did it from a Google account that wasn't associated with my WF account and didn't even use my real name.

Conservatives have got to start fighting back financially against these globalist multi-national businesses.

Starve the beast. It's hard as hell to give up everything they make, but every bit helps.

Jared Kushner tried to use Trump as bargaining chip to take over Gab. Torba soundly told him to fuck off. Big respect to Torba for that.

He is one man and is now the weakest point to attack. We need more.

11
VoidWanderer 11 points ago +11 / -0

The main roadblock is payment processing. We could have a bunch of banks but if the main payment processors that have an effective monopoly don't want to do business with you then you're screwed unless you want to be a cash only system.

Go look at your bank card. It's almost certainly either visa or mastercard backed. Without removing that stranglehold it won't matter how many banks we create as the payment processors are where everything backs up at.

Crypto

1
VoidWanderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

When it's no longer volatile and more of a gamble than an actual investment, sure. You also need to solve the problem of how to access it if something happens to the internet.

Crypto is not the magical cureall when there are still fundamental issues with it that make it unsuitable for actual use as a standardized currency.

10
IllIllIll 10 points ago +10 / -0

Decentralized Finance is our only hope.

There are many bleeding edge technologies with the hope to make fiat currencies obsolete, that are easy to transact in, and hard to centralize through choke points like exchanges.

Even Bitcoin is heavily manipulated at this point, and the per-transaction overhead is prohibitively high to conduct day-to-day transactions.

Stuff like Torba's Gab Payments is a step in the right direction, but it's still (to my understanding) centralized, meaning one government op & the whole thing goes down.

It's becoming apparent crashing the fiat central bank currencies will be part of the Great Reset plan, the only question is if Patriots can come out stronger on the other side. Stories like the OP don't inspire hope, but hopefully at least it will inspire more action!

My bank would be open everyday but be closed on Sundays

9
KekistanPM 9 points ago +9 / -0

I second the credit union suggestions. It's harder to shut us down when our money is distributed in all kinds of places instead of centralized in a few major banks. Keeping a little bit of cash locked up in a safe for a bad day, and a little bit in crypto can also be good.

I have two credit cards; one of them is for emergencies in case my first one gets stolen or shut down.

5
Annpi 5 points ago +5 / -0

I've saved so much money not supporting these fools.... The only place I spend my money now is gold, crypto, paying down the evil mortgage (less interest collected by the bank is a bonus), and when I leave the city and support small country stores and restaurants

The FDIC does not require banks to do business with anyone. They're almost certainly guilty of multiple banking laws here, but the FDIC is just insurance for deposits.

The bank takes federal dollars.

The Civil Rights Act clearly outlined what you can/cannot do if you take federal dollars.

I left Wells Fargo several years ago when they created 5,000,000 accounts without customers' permission. And told them why as I closed my accounts in person.

Then I left SunTrust when they "debanked" several private companies doing work for BP and CIS with facilities for illegal aliens. When I left SunTrust and closed accounts in person, I told the VP I had become friendly with, that he had given in to lefty blackmail. No, he said, it was a business decision. No, I said, you gave in to political blackmail. See ya!!!

Wait until you find out what hedge funds are doing now.

Check out AMCstock or superstonk sub reddit. They control the politicians and they own the media.

100s of CEOs stepped down before covid then bought shares after the market crashed. Politicians also sold off their shares after they found out what was about to happen.

The banking cartel is pulling the strings.

4
VoidWanderer 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's boggles my mind that after decades of their nonsense anyone still banks with them. Even setting politics aside it seems like every few years there's another scandal that they're involved in. They should be dead and forgotten at this point.

12
Warchant59 12 points ago +12 / -0

I don;t know why you would trust Wells Fargo anyhow. They literally run scams to open accounts in peoples names fraudulently, for profit.

9
Theannihilatrixx 9 points ago +10 / -1

Big bank + mortgage = misery.

Call a local independent mortgage banker or broker.

5
Libertas_Vel_Mors 5 points ago +5 / -0

THIS.

Note however that your mortgage can be sold post-closing, and a big bank like WF could end up buying it.

3
Theannihilatrixx 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep, it usually starts with a nonbank mortgage servicer but the servicing rights will be flipped around for sure.

4
Redpill-notCommieRed 4 points ago +4 / -0

They foreclosed on fully paid for closed mortgages during the mortgage crisis. No one should ever lend from them ever again after that

We REALLY can't let companies do this without consequences, that's how shit got so fucked to begin with

4
StaryHickory 4 points ago +4 / -0

Any bank that does this should be cut off from the Federal Reserve and denied any bailouts ever. I am tired of this.

4
Judojoeblack 4 points ago +5 / -1

This is why the big banks don't want the average person to get into cryptocurrency. Its designed specifically for the unbanked and unbankable.

3
VoidWanderer 3 points ago +4 / -1

It's also wildly volatile in the same way the stock market is, which makes it a very poor system to consider as a "bank." A credit union is a better choice until one without the volatility is instituted and there's ways to make sure that an internet outage doesn't magically cut you off from all your funds.

4
FireannDireach 4 points ago +5 / -1

This. Crypto are exactly the same as the chips in a casino. They're good in that casino, and you can even use them in other casinos on the strip, but they're not money until you cash them out - and Uncle Sugar wants his cut every time you do that.

I'll stop there, except to say that seeing the exchanges play games when people try to cash out when crypto is on a downswing from the obvious manipulation is going on is one of many reasons why I never put a penny into it.

4
Tendies_or_GTFO 4 points ago +4 / -0

Crypto looks better and better...until they come for that next. Still, it's a good idea to move to a local credit union, not only for this shit, but just in general.

4
polsenOO7 4 points ago +4 / -0

What banks/credit unions do you guys recommend?

1
Spez_BTFO_v2 1 point ago +1 / -0

One where you personally know the owner. Don't use massive national banks. My bank shares my home town's name. They have one location. It's worked for over 100 years. It will keep working.

4
Dictator_Bob 4 points ago +5 / -1

Wells Fargo has subverted the US Constitution and taken control of the issuance of money. They create money out of thin air through fractional reserve banking. Instead of storing your labor in a store of value issues by the treasury, Wells Fargo loans you money they don't have 8x and more over what they hold in deposits.

They then bill "overdraft" and other fees in the sum of billions and billions per year on top of our poorest, and most vulnerable.

The people who run this scheme should replace the homeless on our streets. And I mean a 1:1 ratio here, by force, and Constitutional means necessary.
