Not sure how this is satire. Strait fact

The Democrats had a partisan Civil War. Only 1 of the 28 Dixiecrat governors and federal officials became a Republican. The rest - including Al Gore's father - went back to the Democrat Party

NADSAQ 18 points ago +18 / -0

Al Gore Se. set the record for longest filibuster in opposition if the Civil Rights Act

MrBrrrrrrrrt 12 points ago +12 / -0

Is there any resource that explains this from a non biased point of view? Whenever I discuss this, I always get shouted down with them claiming any proof I put forward is right wing propaganda.

InarosPrime 19 points ago +19 / -0

Anything counter to their narrative or world view is "right-wing propaganda". That should tell you who the real propagandists are.

Brobold 8 points ago +8 / -0

You mean instantly shutting down an opposing point without even discussing why the other party has that point isn't a logical way to handle disagreements?

Peashout 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yup. Those kind of people are too far gone. They will need to red pill themselves.

MrBrrrrrrrrt 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yeah. I just want to shake them until they see sense.

Criss_P_Bacon 8 points ago +8 / -0

You can give them facts until you’re blue in the face, nothing you say will ever change their views. They’ve been brainwashed to the point of no return.

Pandas4Trump 6 points ago +6 / -0

Once Woodrow Wilson gets into office the historical propaganda goes into overdrive. Hillsdale is the most reputable source since they don't take Government funds and the university has been around since time im-immoral

Joe_Snow 5 points ago +5 / -0

That's called cognitive dissonance, by cognitive dissidents.

MAGA_MEXICAN_CHILI 4 points ago +4 / -0

There's only a .00001% of people who will have a honest conversation. The switch is based on a precieved lie that once Democrats embraced the 1964 Civil Rights act and the singing of the Great Society under LBJ made Democrats more accepting of racial intergration.

The Reality was Blacks were leaving the Republican party because (as of current) they had no spine. W.E. DuBois and Booker T. Washington even said as much leading into the new era that every chance Republicans had to put steel boot up a Democrat's ass was met with placation and appeasement. The lack of general enforcement of the 13, 14 and 15th Amendments eroded any if not all Black support for Republicans. Then you had Andrew Johnson great pardon of the south that restored Dixiecrats back into power (before that majority of all Southern dynastic political parties were considered person non grata/Traitors who could never hold public office).

The slow movement of Blacks to the Democrat camp were spurred by the New Deal. The time 1964 rolled around roughly 60% of all Blacks voted Democrat (even in the South, perpetuating their continual arrest under Jim Crow laws). Its not like there wasn't Republicans who opposed Jim Crow laws in the South, there was in droves its just Blacks did not vote for them due to their spineless nature. They kept with a strategy of the 'known' enemy in this case Democrats.

When asked about Nixon's Southern Strategy, it was more focused on Republicans in the south than actual Southern Democrats. George Wallace defected from the Democrats over racial integration and split the Democrat Vote in the South, giving Nixon the ability to win.

When asked about Goldwater. Goldwater believed in state rights but he was not above board to use the Amendments to hold the South in their acceptance of those amendments. Essentially to remove Jim Crow as he viewed it needed state legislation and legal challenges backed up by the amendments themselves. The heavy handedness of passing the 1964 CRA and 1965 Voting Act would in effect trample on the rights of the states. Democrats often ignore Goldwater's record that he took a lot of cases pro-bono for the NAACP. He also voted on the 1957 Civil Rights Act that was far leaner and pretty much was more of "States MUST ENFORCE X" vs the bloated 1964 bill that was passed he also helped in voting for the 24th amendment that abolished the Poll Tax. His record stands that he did more good. Oddly one thing I took from Goldwater is that Congress often passes two laws. One law is to signal what they should do, the 2nd is the law of what they can do.

Long_time_lurker 2 points ago +2 / -0

Show them the first dozen or so black people in Congress and their parties.

They variously claim that the "parties switched" based on some quote from some otherwise non-notable guy vaguely related to Nixon, but then you can point out that "racism" meant lynching black people when the Democrats did it and it meant mean tweets and nonsense like that after the "party switch."

You can point them to the Klanbake/DNC rally. I honestly wish we could trace any slaves owned by the DNC or have KKK victims sue the DNC for reparations--let them pay those with their own money rather than tax money and bring out the DNC's own sordid history of founding the KKK.

Or you can point them to when the Democrats split off from the Democrat-Republican party to secede from the Union and caused the Civil War...

MageGills 7 points ago +7 / -0

So the republicans used to be the party of big overreaching government, more law and higher taxes? No switch in ideologies whatsoever?

WiseOldOwl 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah. That's why we had a civil war instead of a divorce.

SpaceForceMilitia 6 points ago +6 / -0

They'll move it to any decade when you shoot that down. Reality doesn't suit them

STOOEY 2 points ago +2 / -0

If they switched parties why is the democrats still hyper focused on race as they always have been. Maybe would cause some to scratch their heads. Either that or they would just start going reeeeeee!!!!

Ponzo 17 points ago +19 / -2

And just two years after Juneteenth, 150 blacks and 20 whites held the first republican convention in houston.

NADSAQ 9 points ago +9 / -0

The first black Democrat Senator wasn’t elected until 1991.

lockxirup 1 point ago +1 / -0

RealRedneck 5 points ago +5 / -0

Like the Bering Strait?

MAGAmanXXL 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is just empty pandering. We may be the party of Lincoln, but we are also proud of our Confederate heritage. Do not forget that.

Jabronson 1 point ago +1 / -0

The truth is funny, not funny.

Ben45 43 points ago +43 / -0

The Bee hasn't been satire for at least a year now.

Maybe it never was satire?

Colonel_Dax 33 points ago +33 / -0

Every time Babylon tries to to write over-the-top satire, the Democrats take it as a challenge.

MasterChief 13 points ago +13 / -0

Don't tell the New York Times

Shinydenim 12 points ago +12 / -0

Never has been

JohnAdams 36 points ago +36 / -0

It’s interesting to research history to try and understand how all black people, once free, joined the Republican Party. Then later, went all in for the very same party that enslaved them. Why? Benefits. You try to point that out and how Democrats are invested in making sure they can never get off them to make sure that black people and other minorities are always dependent on them.

FireannDireach 22 points ago +22 / -0

Said it before, and will keep saying it, when the black community truly wakes up and realizes what the Dems have done to them, confining them to the Dom ghetto, and brainwashing them that they can't accomplish anything unless a rich, white liberal does it for them, it's going to be bloody.

TennesseeScorpio [S] 15 points ago +15 / -0

Great film with Matthew McConaughey called Free State of Jones that shows how the Democrats dealt with their new freedom. Spoiler: It wasn’t very nice

SaltiTaralli 3 points ago +3 / -0

I live in TN as well. Are you in Davidson County by chance ?

STOOEY 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yup happened during FDR. There’s a whole period of history that’s ignored in schools that shows major participation by black Americans in the Republican Party in the latter part of the 1800’s.

Waldus -2 points ago +2 / -4

Researching history involves learning about the Southern Strategy. It’s not a pretty part of our history but you have to know about it if you’re going to debate with them.

STOOEY 6 points ago +6 / -0

Nixon campaigning the religious south for votes. What about it.

Waldus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, right, nothing to see here where googling is hard

If you don’t study up on it you’re going to be pretty fucking ignorant against documented historical record admitted facts, and you’ll make the rest of us look stupid with you

Read a fucking book every now and then. We need people who do more than parrot Carlson

ObviatingTyranny 30 points ago +30 / -0

That's not what Juneteenth is.

Juneteenth is a very, VERY local holiday in S Texas commemorating when the slaves THERE were notified that they were free. They weren't even the last slaves notified.

It's some bullshit the left hijacked for clout.

If you didn't know what Juneneenth was 20 years ago, you shouldn't be allowed to say the word at all.

NADSAQ 14 points ago +14 / -0

We’ve always celebrated Juneteenth... We’ve always been at war with East Asia

Aquamine-Amarine 12 points ago +12 / -0

They've gaslighting the entire country, making people think this was always a thing when it wasn't. Like you said, it was a local holiday. I never heard about it until last year.

magacoder 5 points ago +5 / -0

As a Texan, it's kind of comical to see Juneteenth in the mainstream.

It's just a holiday where you don't let your kids go out that night and blacks ride around on ATVs.

Waldus 4 points ago +5 / -1

Banning people from saying a word without qualification?

How very woke of you.

ObviatingTyranny 3 points ago +3 / -0

It works for them. If you didn't know what Juneteenth was 5 years ago and you use it now for any reason, you're a cunt who doesn't deserve a mouth or internet access.

VirtueVeritas 3 points ago +3 / -0

There should have just been an Emancipation Day.

ObviatingTyranny 3 points ago +3 / -0

It took weeks and in some places months for the news to travel.

The telegraph was only 30 years old, you could live in a town and not have any contact with people outside of the neighboring towns for a decade.

It cost a lot of money (and someone had to think of it) to communicate with someone in a town in BFE. That part of the US was the Comanche border too. Whole different world.

UpTrump 16 points ago +17 / -1

All this because of George Floyd?

roflcopt0rz_returns 8 points ago +8 / -0

SAINT George Floyd to you, put some respect on that name you nazi!!!!!!!!

MICHIGANisRED 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's George Kirby.

Joe Biden said so.

Free_Saint_Kyle 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think that was nancy p

cryptoa 2 points ago +2 / -0

You mean George Kirby?

2020_Vision 14 points ago +14 / -0

that "holiday" no one ever brought up until last year then acted like you're satan himself if you didn't know what it was.

Happymars 1 point ago +1 / -0

I had to look it up. It should have just been emancipation day, that I've heard of.

ScottyGunn 12 points ago +12 / -0

I completely understand how they want juneteenth to be a holiday. It coincides with Father's Day, and most of them feel left out. This will make it more inclusive.

Droford 1 point ago +1 / -0

Eh..they'll eventually make it so the holiday is the 19th but everyone will get off the Monday before or after to make it another 3 day weekend.

dahdahdah_dahditdah 9 points ago +9 / -0

That Bee has got a real stinger.

Afeazo 9 points ago +9 / -0

But muh party switch and no don’t tell me to point out when that switch was it was probably before the 1960s and no don’t ask me why Dems still didn’t elect a black senator until the 1990s

PraiseBeToScience 6 points ago +6 / -0

Juneteenth is a fake holiday. Native Americans owned slaves for month past that point. Also it hardly matters for anyone else.

Also, it entertains mulatto delusions of oppression so it should be cancelled on that alone.

deleted 6 points ago +11 / -5
PraiseBeToScience 5 points ago +6 / -1

It's never too late to ship them all home.

michaelconfoy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Burrito you still believe the election data is legit? That Blue cities have stayed Blue for 100 years because of fair elections?

More like a frozen burrito made with stew meat instead of ribeye.

Honkycracker 5 points ago +5 / -0

It's funny cause it's true.

JoeBidensDementia1 5 points ago +5 / -0

Straight truth. 100%

QueensOwn 4 points ago +4 / -0

They don’t like to talk about that.

Come to think of it the Dems should be the ones ponying up the money for reparations.

Honkycracker 1 point ago +1 / -0

They are trying to....off your back.

YouHadMeAtGaming 4 points ago +4 / -0

Didn’t the media call Trump a racist for holding a rally on that day, saying it was racist?

silent_majority_LA 4 points ago +4 / -0

Last year my employer gave it to us off as an unofficial company holiday. This year it has now been added to the HR holiday calendar as an official company holiday. I assumed it was taking the place of another holiday but it is not. So I now get an extra day off to “reflect” lol.

PraiseBeToScience 3 points ago +3 / -0

Reflect with a fresh pair of stolen Nikes.

silent_majority_LA 1 point ago +1 / -0

I want some Nike decades.

Free_Saint_Kyle 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yah me too we get Friday off

silent_majority_LA 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ha. If they want to pay me to do nothing all day I'm fine with it.

siliconia 4 points ago +4 / -0

Should we demand reparations for freeing them and losing all those white lives to do so?

AmericanForever 4 points ago +4 / -0

Now trying to free the mental slaves

Jack_Burton 4 points ago +4 / -0

Like Juneteenth? Thank a republican and a Christian!

cryptoa 4 points ago +4 / -0

Thats the thing I realized about this Juneteenth stuff.

So in the end they are celebrating the White man for emancipating them.

I can't wait for the 1619 SJW tardies to rewrite history and say Frederick Douglas emancipated the slaves on Amadeus rock.

Sparks1017 3 points ago +3 / -0

The Bee is no longer satire, they're the only outlet speaking truth

Hanging_Chad 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was thinking of celebrating Juneteenth by writing with some car paint on my back window exactly this. Happy Juneteenth, the day the democrats lost their slaves.

nova7733 2 points ago +2 / -0

Please, I don't need reparations for the sacrifices my family made to free the slaves. A holiday is more than enough.

Ch0ps 2 points ago +2 / -0

I still wonder how the Democrats can retain the name "Democrat" in good conscience... that's a significantly more racist symbol than the Confederate Flag ever was.

Time to petition. For justice

Kilroy 2 points ago +2 / -0

HKgoneWild 1 point ago +1 / -0
