As a Texan, I find it extremely disturbing and complete proof that Texas "leadership" is compromised.

Tagappliedfork 82 points ago +82 / -0

The rot has taken root in our great state.

ObviatingTyranny 65 points ago +65 / -0

It had deep ass roots when Perry stole land from the people to build toll roads for China.

Texas has always had corruption issues, they just accelerated in the 90's and now here we are.

The answer to why Katrina squatters weren't sent back home. The answer to why illegal labor was welcomed for decades. The answer to land theft by the state. The answer to Austin. The answer to Houston. The answer to Dallas.

And now there's too many non-Texans to keep the culture alive. "Texan" is just a brand now, a disney-fied raping of what was once beautiful and unique, something born of independence and tempered in endless wars with anyone who would fuck with them. Mexicans, French, Comanches... anyone.

Requiem for a Republic. Requiem for a state. Requiem for a culture.

GrayManNumber333 30 points ago +30 / -0

Lol no one wanted the Katrina squatters. Should have bussed them up north. Leeches and vagrants every one of them.

GrayManNumber333 6 points ago +6 / -0

Are they even fully human if they can be shipped to a different location and that’s just where they are now? How very fungible.

MerlynTrump 3 points ago +3 / -0

Should've sent them to Puerto Rico.

PP2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

I was in community college at the time in a Houston suburb. The average class was about 20-25 students. Probably 5-10% black in the school.

Monday morning, the class is so full people are just standing. There aren't enough seats, maybe 45 people in class. An extra 15-20 black folk.

Wednesday (next class) , everything was back to normal.

I assume they had to show up for one day for some type of benefits, then just bounced and never came back.

Mamapedia 6 points ago +6 / -0

Well said. A sad loss for America.

BLMARETERRORIST 2 points ago +2 / -0

jdog 30 points ago +30 / -0

Both issues are caused by the Federal Governments intervention though. Texas made the mistake of allowing the Federal Government that power.

anotherthing 20 points ago +20 / -0

This is exactly the case. The EPA caused the power shortages even though Texas told them that would happen and they needed to ramp up power production. The EPA told them they could buy power from other states, but only "green power".

jdog 11 points ago +11 / -0

I love seeing the "fact checks" on this that say the EPA did allow Texas to go beyond their permits during the crisis. Yeah, they did allow them, but they threatened to fine the shit out of them if they did.

anotherthing 8 points ago +8 / -0

Not only that, but did you see the price of kilowatt hours on the green energy they sourced? People were getting electric bills in the thousands of dollars for those few days of getting that out-of-state "green energy".

BasedNtruth 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yup. Our own govt is destroying our way of life.

Amaroq64 5 points ago +5 / -0

I tried to raise awareness about this before, but the thread never took off.

ERCOT is basically the Texas Energy Market equivalent of the Federal Reserve, and they had a lot to do with it too.

Amaroq64 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'll also copy/paste it here, for those who don't want to click through:

Texas' energy market is managed by an agency called ERCOT, which:

  • Was created by the government.
  • Answers to the government.
  • Has its board appointed by the government.
  • Centrally manages Texas' energy market.

Don't let them tell you the Texas 2021 blackout was a failure of the free market.

It was a failure of central management.

KansasGirl 3 points ago +3 / -0

Came to say just that!

OneBigMaga 16 points ago +16 / -0

Just look at all the things the house allowed to expire without voting on. They intentionally allowed democrats to stall out a law that would make child mutilations illegal. Intentionally! They could have locked the doors and forced a vote, but the did not. The even told the democrats beforehand that they would not force a vote.

midgetpornrocks 6 points ago +6 / -0

Abbott is a cuck.

GenericInsult 5 points ago +5 / -0

Texan here. No doubt. He only does things we want in election years, and 3/4 of those times it never goes through.

Shalomtoyou 4 points ago +4 / -0

Abbott eventually does something nice... a few weeks after DeSantis does it first.

sobriquet 4 points ago +5 / -1

Why? What's wrong with brothers helping brothers?

HeavyMetalPatriot 3 points ago +3 / -0

True. All the red states need to work together...to secede quickly.

rochrealtor 77 points ago +78 / -1

Sounds like Alan is running for Governor of Texas. I agree with his strong statements.

PickleSticks 42 points ago +42 / -0

i hope he does and i hope trump walks back on his endorsement for abbot, he has passed some good things lately but hes out, between february and now this shit with the electricity in summer thats it, every texan is pissed not just dems.

rochrealtor 37 points ago +37 / -0

Abbott's okay but not strong enough for what America or Texas needs the next 10 years.

PickleSticks 24 points ago +24 / -0

Agree, he's done some good but a little too late. we need someone like DeSantis, i think West would be our guy.

Filetsmignon 8 points ago +8 / -0

I would love to vote for West. I hope he runs so I can.

Cyer6 5 points ago +5 / -0

He has been getting a few things done. Signed all these pro-2A bills into law. I think he's been talking to Trump a lot lately.

HeavyMetalPatriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

Abbott seems to have smelled what's in the wind under Xiden and maybe he's realized its MAGA or doom for Texas.

Cyer6 4 points ago +4 / -0

Gotta give our TX legislature a hand. They got it done this time. Probably the most productive pro-2A session in history and it wasn't limited to just those 3 bills. But Abbott has signed them all.

HeavyMetalPatriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

Total respect to the TX legislature and every other state legislature that's been throwning down hard on 2A defense!!

zzRrocks 2 points ago +2 / -0

BigAmericanParty 2 points ago +2 / -0

All this good he's doing now is trying to make up for what an absolute bitch he was during corona.

rochrealtor 1 point ago +1 / -0

Can you elaborate.

OneBigMaga 12 points ago +13 / -1

Abbot only really stand up when he is trying to get reelected. He is weak and spineless the rest of the time.

Filetsmignon 5 points ago +7 / -2

"stand up"?

Farage_massage 7 points ago +7 / -0

10/10 for new and unique joke.

BigAmericanParty 1 point ago +1 / -0

i hope trump walks back on his endorsement for abbot

Yeah, cause that's something he does.

booblitchutz 15 points ago +16 / -1

Allen is based as fuck. Every time I hear that man speak I come away impressed. He's brutally frank, doesn't use the same half assed dodges RINOs love to employ. Would love to see him in there.

My only concern (and this is not to mean he shouldn't run) is Texas GOP is full of RINO faggots that are way too happy to play ball with Dallas and Houston democrats so he would have an uphill battle dealing with the legislature.

Cyer6 4 points ago +4 / -0

He recently resigned from his chair position with the TX GOP. I think he's giving it some serious thought especially since McConaughey is considering a run. That guy would be a disaster.

JimmyNelson 3 points ago +10 / -7

ramennov 4 points ago +9 / -5

No. We don't need to repeat the left's bullshit.

BoatingAccident 16 points ago +19 / -3

We must not lose our sense of humor. Then we become them.

ramennov 4 points ago +7 / -3

Yeah those lefties, real comedians those ones. We have no business giving the left's talking points more longevity just to amuse ourselves. Then we fuckin' wonder how they take over culture.

BoatingAccident 6 points ago +7 / -1

You're wrong. Making fun of stupidity does not result in them "taking over our culture". Talk about myopic.

ramennov 2 points ago +5 / -3

It’s not just “making fun of stupidity” though, right? It’s literally repeating what they say, verbatim. Do you see how that’s a problem? Make fun, by all means, but we should put a little more thought and energy into it so as not to help them in the process.

BoatingAccident 4 points ago +4 / -0

I don't see anything that dude did by making fun of their phrase in our GA safe space, as contributing to the problem.

I will agree with you 100% that it was low effort and we need better memes than that.

lonestarnuts 2 points ago +2 / -0

I didn’t agree right away but I think I’m convinced

RichardNoggin 2 points ago +3 / -1

It's done in a way that makes fun of them. If you can't see that you're just another guy with a tree up his ass.

QLARP -1 points ago +2 / -3

Well said, awoman

GunsNBurgers1776 -3 points ago +3 / -6

Trump endorsed Abbott. Do you not trust Trump??

ramennov 6 points ago +7 / -1

I don't trust all of Trump's endorsements, no.

Omnishambles 3 points ago +4 / -1

I trust that he’s likely making that endorsement based on perceived electability. If West throws hit hat in the ring that could all change. I’m 100% okay with settling for Abbot if it comes down to that but if West runs he absolutely has my vote in the primary, Trump endorsement or not.

Block_Helen 1 point ago +1 / -0

I like West but he can't win and I doubt he runs.

TheLeningrad27 5 points ago +5 / -0

Oklahoma City is the largest city to vote for Trump both times so that's my choice

shaven_llama 2 points ago +2 / -0

The national capitol should be in an isolated, miserable location in order to encourage Congress to conduct their business and FO to their home districts as quickly as possible at the end of each session.

I’m thinking a compound in the Oklahoma panhandle consisting of a conglomeration of double wide trailers, with barracks style accommodations for Congress, a military style DFAC as the only option for meals, and a large drafty barn with bleachers for Congress to meet in.

And cameras everywhere, live-streaming all of the goings on to the public.

QLARP -4 points ago +2 / -6

Come on son you tryna go 0-2?

Women4Trump2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

Florida here, I’m ready for states to take back the sovereignty our founders intended. I take it a step further and refer to great governors as Presidents of their states. Let’s take back state power and ignore the federal government. The President of Florida helping TX is a great start. https://rumble.com/vimydp-governor-desantis-press-conference-regarding-the-border-crisis-with-florida.html

OhLollyLollyPop 2 points ago +2 / -0

It takes an awful lot of bodies to man the border!

Annpi 2 points ago +2 / -0

True... the energy thing though... I smell someones hands in a cookie jar....

Filetsmignon 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agree. Stretch it through LA, MS, AL & SC. If GA gets it's act together they can join too. Southern Power.

loooooof 30 points ago +30 / -0

Our border opened up before many of our own States did. Disconcerting failures, indeed :|

residue69 8 points ago +8 / -0

While refusing to test or quarantine the "asylum seekers"

Ex-libtard 23 points ago +23 / -0

That's what you get for falling for green energy scams and attracting libtards to your state.

PickleSticks 21 points ago +22 / -1

No, they purposely have shut down power plants, just like in february. Its being done on purpose, not saying green energy isnt crap, but we are having issues now because ERCOT is an inept company that is pushing the potatoes green new deal agenda, and what better state to make an example of climate change than Texas? The state known for oil and gas.

QLARP -2 points ago +2 / -4

Oil and gas lines freeze too what's your point?

PickleSticks 12 points ago +12 / -0

the reason we had power failures in february was because crucial back up generators were offline for maintenance, the reason where having issues now is because power plants are being forced offline. One being a large nuclear power plant offline for a 'suspicious fire'.

QLARP 3 points ago +7 / -4

So many post apocalyptic stories that show america breaking apart show a republic of Texas on their maps.

I think that isn't true anymore

PickleSticks 3 points ago +3 / -0

now i ask you, whats your point? i dont see how that relates.

QLARP -8 points ago +1 / -9

Because the Texas grid isn't dope it fuck sucks and should connect to the national grid

Filetsmignon 9 points ago +9 / -0

Absolutely not. Get the fuck outta here with that "connect to the national grid garbage". ERCOT is great, we just need to fix it and get the swamp creatures who currently run it out.

PickleSticks 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think that its just ercot, the board members need to go and the leaders of ercot need to be elected like politicians so it can better represent texans and not the interest of big energy companies

Spicy_maymay 1 point ago +1 / -0

Username checks out.

Bogey 4 points ago +6 / -2

It's easier to keep gas from freezing than keep the sun shining and wind blowing.

QLARP -3 points ago +1 / -4

Foreign_Aid_is_Theft 4 points ago +4 / -0

Imagine if your business was expensive to finance,

politicians wanted to regulate it out of existence,

created mandates that make new construction more expensive

had alternatives that produce power mainly at the lowest points of demand with no storage basically sucking up 25% of the energy demand annually but producing less than 10% of the demand at peaks in demand

This is how you get a shortage in conventional to fill the gap.

Who would invest in this business when your return on capital is trending down?

One nuclear power plant was producing more electricity than all the windmills in Texas during peak demand yesterday.

Nuclear is also incredibly hard to get built. Planning to completing construction could go through 2-3 different state and federal administrations having ever changing regulatory requirements and approvals.

Now build pipelines, plants and O&G exploration and then woopsie!, permits pulled and financing shut off.

Bogey 16 points ago +16 / -0

ERCOT imported foreign (left-wing American) managers. Texans weren't paying attention to who they elected to minor positions.

shadows_of_the_mind 8 points ago +9 / -1

Florida is the new Texas

IncredibleMrE1 7 points ago +7 / -0

Please run for Governor, Colonel.

Ididsomething 6 points ago +6 / -0

Texas has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the country. I can’t help but think the lack of enthusiasm is somewhat to blame for the mediocre leadership.

LampshadeDisco 6 points ago +6 / -0

Alpha_Lemming 6 points ago +15 / -9

I like West, but he's just fucking wrong.

  1. accepting help isn't the same as needing it

  2. a border wall is a multi-billion dollar project, a big deal, especially when the feds are going to fight it all the way.

  3. the green agenda does need rollback. TX needs to handle it, but a significant amount of money was spent moving in the wrong direction. West is bitching about the barn door being left open instead of helping to round up the horses.

  4. crowdfunding is actually the most democratic and voluntary form of funding for civil works. West's statement is basically trashing people putting their money where their mouth is.

Isolated_Patriot 18 points ago +21 / -3

I disagree with your take, entirely.

  1. It should never have gotten to this point.
  2. It should never have gotten to this point.
  3. It should never have gotten to this point.
  4. It should never have gotten to this point.

Which can be summed up with the phrase:

"These are very disconcerting failures."

Alpha_Lemming -3 points ago +2 / -5

West is bitching about the barn door being left open instead of helping to round up the horses.

booblitchutz 5 points ago +5 / -0

West is bitching about the barn door being left open instead of helping to round up the horses.

Allen West is not an elected representative yet.

geewhiz 4 points ago +5 / -1

I agree with this. At the end of the day, he talks like a fundraiser, and not an executive.

residue69 5 points ago +5 / -0

EPA or ERCOT made Texas convert gas field compressors from running on the natural gas they collected and compressed to running on electricity from the power plants they supplied because emissions. Guess what happens when they started rolling blackouts.

No power to the compressors, no gas for the power plants. Now the rolling blackouts are full on blackouts till power to the compressors is restored.

Who could have predicted that?

OhLollyLollyPop 2 points ago +2 / -0

Texas needs to get its a t together and defy the EPA. They caused deaths in Snowmageddon by denying us the ability to buy gas from other states (a day before the storm hit).

GiveMe1776 5 points ago +5 / -0

Simple answer: foreign money, corrupt politicians, bloated government, too much government regulation of the energy industry, and democrats

Kaarous 5 points ago +5 / -0

I can definitely answer that third question. The answer is that wind power is a fucking joke, and anyone who knows the first thing about electricity knows it. It's unreliable at the best of times, and can't be ramped up when more output is required.

Wind power is literally designed to be a failure.

CrackerJack2 3 points ago +3 / -0

Plus windmills are bird killers.
Birds eat bugs.
Birds good.

nickybops 4 points ago +4 / -0

This man about to run. God Speed Allen. If I wasn't a FL pede, I'd run over hot coals and shards of glass to vote for you. We need more patriots.

Tardigrade 4 points ago +4 / -0

Bold prediction: If any states secede, Texas wont be the first, not even close.

TheNotSoEvilEngineer 4 points ago +4 / -0

Texas has 30% of its grid now tied to useless renewables, mainly Wind power. This week we've had below average winds in west Texas. Go figure when your 30 GW of power is only giving you 10GW, you have a shortage.

Fuck wind and solar. They are useless without storage.

OhLollyLollyPop 1 point ago +1 / -0

Plus Unit 1 at Comanche Peak is offline right now and they are in an outage. We need more natural gas plants. They can be built quickly. The windmills are a loser hawked by Zuckerberg and others wantimg to cash in on Federal subsidies. They are a blight on the landscape and kill wildlife.

GrayManNumber333 2 points ago +2 / -0

We have had power emergencies all week. Too much reliance on wind turbines, a nuclear plant reactor down, etc. Our power needs are growing rapidly, but nothing reliable is being built to meet them.

vongregormench 1 point ago +1 / -0

Around the time Obama became president I had stock in a company called NRG who was getting ready to build several nuclear reactors. The Obama administration started to discourage nuclear power and the project was either scrapped or NRG pulled out of the project. As far as I know those reactors weren’t built. The fact that we never seriously pursued nuclear energy after global warming began to get hyped up was a clear sign that it was a scam.
