Not sure if Egypt was ever colonized.

No, you would almost have to at least credit the Academy, etc, as being far earlier.

It was "colonized" in the literal sense by the Hellenics -- "Alexandria", and so on.

That is the Union building (Main Government building) in South Africa. It is / was not a university. Just for interest, the ponit is still valid.
