The USSR was never truly the enemy, they were simply the then primary vehicle for it. Now China is the primary vehicle for it. But the real enemy always has been communism ideology. Which is a virus that infects the brain of humans.

Humans have an innate desire to seek safety and security like any wild animal does. But the idea that you can receive support without exerting personal energy is very appealing. Unfortunately that is impossible, and even when it’s “done”, it’s never truly done because no one produces for nothing. So people are ground up and spit out for what little can extracted from them to redistribute to the elite oppressing factions who are the only people to benefit under communism.

The enemy is a wicked impossible, but desirable idea, that weak willed people are drawn to.

the ussr was the enemy because they devoted a massive amount of energy, money, and weapons to converting the world to communism.
