Need to keep the show going for as long as possible to make sure enough people remain complacent. This will just lead to another attempt, and another, and another. Once people aren't paying attention it'll magically get just enough to pass and by then it'll be too late.

We're on a track to 2030. They're not going to miss their self imposed deadline and things will continue to ramp up as we get close and close to it.

War_Hamster 31 points ago +31 / -0

You sound like you think they're going to succeed?

I'm thinking maybe we ought to say no to all of that.

Gather locally in the wild without tech and learn a code or make one. Dont be stupid. Y'all ain't kids, but you're gonna have to be able to think like one sometimes. Fuck, the hard will be easy for the dumb but the easy will be unattainable for the wise or something like that.

they've got manchin to support lowering the threshold to 55; that may pass down the road and then they'll try again. but no way was any conservative, rino or not, going to vote for this w/ midterms looming. the usual suspects will behave until they get re-elected and then try again. which is why those who are up for re-election MUST be replaced with maga.

the left used and abused the filibuster; 314 times under prez maga's one term, which is twice the number of times that it was used under both of obama's terms--175.

Mittens and most of the rest of them are hoping that will believe they're tough on voting rights now. I mean, the 2020 election was disappointing but it was the fairest election in history, right?

1
Tweedlethree 1 point ago +3 / -2

I think Mittens realizes that he may have beaten Obama and that election was fraudulent as well. Remember how sure they were.

Yea same here. But Obama has lower turnouts for his races. That I think was them shredding ballots and then added in replacements for 2020 along with shredding.

1
y_do_i_need_to_hide 1 point ago +1 / -0

I mean no offense but the idea that mittens and Obama aren't on the same side is fairly alien to me. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there is internal competition and jockeying for position. Like any crime family that ends the second they step out the door.

Cyber1776 10 points ago +10 / -0

Even he cant support this shit, if only for optics. This is literally the most tyrannical bound for corruption thing ever that very clearly would mean democrats rigging every election forever.

98
OsakaRaccoon 98 points ago +98 / -0

Because even the GOP RINOs know that the second this passes, their own careers will be nuked by Democrats that will betray their uniparty agreements with them. The Democrats are backstabbers, and even the corrupt RINOs know that.

5
JohnCocktoastin 5 points ago +5 / -0

Nah, its because they have to put up a larp. This will be something they do when they have sufficiently worked themselves up into enough of a frenzy to do away with the filibuster. They haven’t yet. These theatrics are with that goal in mind.

2
Snipthetipandsip 2 points ago +2 / -0

Can you give me an explanation of how this bill was supposed to centralize power to the Dems? I've read a bunch of articles about it, but none of them go into detail about what this bill would of done. These articles just print the talking points from leadership. The Dems say it's for racial purposes (of course) and the republican says it is a power grab and that's all these articles talk about. I just want to know what the written law entailed just to know how desperate the Dems are for control..

2
ObviatingTyranny 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup. It'll destroy the uniparty's facade and the result will be a right wing party that doesn't like to wear things like mittens.

57
vote_for_MAGA_2020 57 points ago +57 / -0

Don’t get too excited. It’s all political theater. RINOs didn’t vote for it because they didn’t have enough pork in the bill for them.

5
ThePatriot_2021 5 points ago +5 / -0

Couldn’t the whore just tiebreak the vote? Or can she only do that when the senate votes on actual bills.

20
rebuildingMyself 20 points ago +20 / -0

You need 60 votes to avoid filibuster, which is why the left is obsessed with removing that check against their power at the moment (despite happily using it when they were the minority just a few years ago).

7
Canlog96 7 points ago +7 / -0

The democrats would be giving up one of their greatest weapons and it would bite them in the ass if they ever fell into the minority again. Clearly they’re planning to not have to worry about that anymore so it’s time to do away with it.

7
Thep1mp 7 points ago +7 / -0

Current procedures allow either side to force it to 60 with a filibuster. That’s as simple as I can explain right now.

16
IncredibleMrE1 16 points ago +16 / -0

Allowing 10 Repugs to expose themselves is not feasible. That would be too damaging. They will probably knock the filibuster down to 55 before trying this bill again, that way only 5 Repugs will have to flip.

Pick any 5 of these 7:

  • Romney

  • Murkowski

  • Collins

  • Toomey

  • Cassidy

  • Portman

  • Sasse

3

10
Araket 10 points ago +10 / -0

Yup. The dems run a stupidly overpowered bill through, one that looks like a blatant power grab, and the R's heroically step in to block it. Fucking right, like I buy that shit for a fucking second. Now people will think about how they smacked down those dirty dems when they tried to take over. Vote for them in 2022, and don't bother to think of how they stabbed our president and our country in the back on Jan 6. Bet something along these lines happens again right before 2024 after another 2 years of rolling over to every dem demand. Tell me you don't think this was set up between the RNC/DNC. We are watching a movie and it is designed to sway our opinions and actions.

not even one of these snake senators (Graham looking at you pussy) would be brave enough to face down 80 million Americans at this point with all we know about the 2020 voter fraud.

4
JBlaze056 4 points ago +4 / -0

Stealing the Presidential election was a bigger power grab IMO. Second to that was probably spying on a campaign and then impeaching over it, twice.

4
SmugFrog 4 points ago +4 / -0

The name "For the People" Act is laughable. This bill disenfranchises the American people and codifies the Democrats' fraudulent practices into law. Where do they come with these names? It's the "Patriot Act" all over again. Now they're going to cry racism and use blacks as a shield for their unconstitutional power grab. Every time you hear the left use the "Jim Crow" talking point, remember they're trying disenfranchise YOU and want to make it easier for their operatives to commit fraud in the inner cities.

3
bobobob 3 points ago +3 / -0

RINOs are stupid, but not that stupid. They're not going to vote for something that threatens their jobs and guarantees permanent democrat rule.

3
ConfiscationCrenshaw 3 points ago +3 / -0

Wow. I’m surprised at how surprising it is to see the GOP not betray their oaths for once.

What a victory. We mounted a resistance against permanent one party rule.

Now we can go back to the GOP betraying us at a slower pace. In 20 years, opposing the federalizing elections will be a “far right” xenophobic hate crime.

For now, we held the line. Yippie. And we can still say some things on some platforms without getting our banks accounts frozen. Taking America back. Yaaay

6
FireannDireach 6 points ago +6 / -0

I'm hesitant to do that, with McConnell there. I wouldn't put it past him to create a bargaining chip to enrich himself, and will fold the next time the revised version of this bill gets to the Senate. He's said he's stepping down, so now is the time to grab as much as he can.

That backroom deal possibilities over this are what scare me. They're what lead to the actual vote. I don't trust McConnell, so...wait and see. I feel relief for now it failed, but this is far from over.

2

Finally these guys show some guts, for whatever reason. About time.

The Dems cheat and then they try to enable more cheating. Time to put our foot down and say no. If we have to have a photo ID to fly, we ought to need a photo ID to vote and that is not any more voter restriction than need for Real ID to enter a courthouse. F T Dems. Next these pricks will try to legalize the dead voting; they have no shame.

I note that Dianne Feinstein backed ID and now the Dems are casting her out for doing that. When the time comes for revolution, let us clean the slate of swamp creatures.

If you can’t figure out how to vote on your own, you shouldn’t be voting.

Not everyone should be allowed to vote. Change my mind!

Only those who make a tax contribution and have a stake in our country should vote. Makes me mad as hell when there is a local property tax funded levy on the ballot and non property tax payers are allowed to weigh in on the decision. Of course someone in a section 8 shithole apartment is going to reach for any shiny object.
