I frequent tech news sites and Google (Goolag) is starting its new feature for searches that will let you know if a site is "trustworthy" or spreading "misinformation" right before the AZ audit is about to be released. What coincidental timing... thats why I tell everyone I know to use duck duck go

It's so great to have a propaganda-free option that doesn't suck. I mean we have had options for a while but some of them just suck in so many ways. Brave is doing a great job. I like that you can earn BAT for using the browser. I hope they offer an IPO. I would love a chance to invest.

No, it's based on Chromium. Chrome is based on Chromium as well.

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
3
Mashiki 3 points ago +3 / -0

There's nothing wrong with Chromium in itself, it's designed as a "build your own browser" from the get go, and you can add and remove components easily. That's why MS Edge for example has a high a privacy rating as Brave's. Edge and Brave use the same strong no-cookie, no-tracking, no-persistent cookie components.

Not sure on your tech level, but you can compare the repos against each other as well. Or go to the chromium repo and build yourself the browser outright.

BEWARE they have started doing some shady shit like automatically redirecting certain links to their affiliate links. Make sure EVERYTHING is turned off in "privacy" except for the Do Not Track option

1
motoford 1 point ago +1 / -0

Can you give some examples? Is this in the browser or the search engine? This is really bad.

2
Matticus 2 points ago +2 / -0

They were using their affiliate links for the built in links to crypto wallets. They've since apologized and fixed it. Old news iirc

Which do you like better? Been using Duck Duck Go with Brave and didn't knowBrave had a search until today

31
acasper 31 points ago +31 / -0

Brave is already more feature rich even in beta. Math, structured data cards for people and places, just better results overall. The main difference I think is that they are using their own search index which is already, and will continue to, produce a higher quality differentiated product than Google/Bing/Yahoo. DDG in its current form served as a stepping stone away from mainstream search engines so that a substantial enough audience could then be assumed for other alternatives as they arise.

spez: Brave Search also has wildcards and a bunch of advanced features which google has and DDG does not such as file type, TLD, and wildcard delimiters which I find invaluable.

12
FiatLux 12 points ago +12 / -0

how can i buy stonk in brave

13
acasper 13 points ago +13 / -0

Privately held company. The beat way to get exposure to their growth is the engage in the BAT economy and use their platforms.

8
DeplorableCentipede 8 points ago +8 / -0

Guy learned from his mistake at Mozilla, where he was ousted from his own company. Conservatives shouldn’t take their companies public since it gives leverage to the woke outrage machine.

1
acasper 1 point ago +1 / -0

Exactly right.

8
MR_ROBOT1776 8 points ago +8 / -0

Thank you! Just made the switch. DDG does have some crappy results it returns most of the time and the lack of features like a good basic calculator drive me insane. I just made the switch to Brave. I'd rather support the platform just because of it's stance anyway. Not sure how true it is but I did read DDG just repackages yahoo search results, etc. which would make it return the same slanted results.

8
acasper 8 points ago +9 / -1

Not having a calculator was killing me and was the thing I was most excited about lol. DDG repackages results but also doesn’t filter them. Google has all the unslanted results in their index then they push only the slanted view and personalize the slant to the individual or the highest bidder. When DDG uses the indexes of other engines especially when it mixes them you do tend to get better results (equivalent to google), but Brave is doing their own indexing so there are no strings for people in the shadows to pull. Also, they have a real business model in the form of Brave Ads so they don’t have to pull the bullshit that Firefox and other projects do to fund themselves.

5
MR_ROBOT1776 5 points ago +5 / -0

FF can go to hell. I told them how it was when I uninstalled it since they ask why you're uninstalling lol. I initially installed it to follow some Cyber Sec training courses with the tools it was using but now I only use the already stripped down version on a VM with all the tools already on there. I let them know about their shitty agenda stance on internet censorship when that was exactly what their old slogan was against, along with the hot dyke welding on their homepage, their layoffs, etc.

It kinda runs like shit anyway, especially with most websites being build around Chromium and Chromium's inspector being much better. Pretty crazy that Brave is brand new and has outdone a 20 year old browser in nearly every way, along with innovation on the side, while managing to support themselves with their own model.

4
acasper 4 points ago +5 / -1

Brave is chromium based. With web standards the way they are I actually assume new browsers will perform better inherently since their adaptation to new technologies aren’t duck taped on as needed.

Backend on the other hand. You get someone to write it well once and there’s basically no reason to touch it for a decade. DoD Contracts are still executed on a mainframe running FORTRAN last I checked. Banks are running COBOL as a core language for their infrastructure in many cases lol.

5
Carry_Your_Name 5 points ago +5 / -0

Is either subject to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act? I only use Goolag to look for some filesharing links of movie or music I like, and a lot of those links are not showing in their results because of this damn law.

2
acasper 2 points ago +2 / -0

Most services respond to DMCA requests. You’re better off going directly to the private groups at this point if you’re looking for ripped content or similar.

2
Carry_Your_Name 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well that sucks. I don't expect to find any movie or tv shows through a search engine, but oftentimes there're surprises in the first page when I look for an album or a book.

2
acasper 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fair point. The user experience going directly to the source is typically better though. ZLib, YIFY, etc

Any clue on how to get the brave browser to show the brave search engine ad the default. I might have an older version of the brave browser and I'm having trouble finding where I do an update of it.

3
acasper 3 points ago +3 / -0

Since it’s a beta you still have to add it as a custom search engine option. I imagine once it is released it will be the default for the browser (with a user setup that offers multiple options to avoid monopoly claims).

12
JudicialDredd 12 points ago +14 / -2

DDG is probably the least filtered, but make no mistake, I've often found the same "curated" results I'd see on gulag depending on the search. Bing seems to be the "best" alternative in regards to options, advanced search, and clearly better UI and presentation. Except of course china virus searches. Those are always biased thanks to billy gates.

Tbh, mainstream search platforms are fucked. We need a real alternative...

1
Mashiki 1 point ago +4 / -3

DDG doesn't curate though. They don't even use cookies to track your search terms or results, and their main backend is bing. Startpage uses google though, and that's where you'll see curated returns.

2
deleted 2 points ago +2 / -0
1
Mashiki 1 point ago +1 / -0

That one's easy to understand. Improper indexing. It's kinda like the old Dewy days, when a book was indexed for 520.01 and 520.011 would be on different shelves across from each other.

8
Amaroq64 8 points ago +11 / -3

I've been thinking of how to help DuckDuckGo compete with google.

And imo the big thing would be to come up with a one-word verb for searching, like google has.

"I googled this." "I duckduckgoed that?"

But what if we use "I ducked that?"

>Hold on, I'm ducking up a video of it.

>Did you hear about x? Duck it up, you'll see.

>I haven't heard of her. I'm ducking her right now.

The whole concept of having information checkers as the internet's source of truth is still weird to me, especially when it's done by massive political corporations. I miss when the internet was just crazy. No censorship and you were just told to check sources and scientific journals. Kids can't even experience the insane game lobbies of just 6 years ago anymore. You get purged for any wrong-speak anywhere now.

32
Error404 32 points ago +33 / -1

90s and early 2000s Internet was the best imo

18
MR_ROBOT1776 18 points ago +19 / -1

It sure was. Every now and then I'll do a search and end up reading an old forum thread from the early 2000s. It's crazy how much stuff from that era would destroy a business and a person's life today lol. You could actually have an alter ego then. Someone would have to do digging to identify you. Now you have to provide your email, phone number, verify both, etc. just to signup for anything.

11
Carry_Your_Name 11 points ago +11 / -0

There was no all-encompassing social media and no smart devices, and most importantly, everybody was anonymous, that's why.

4
bigly4trump 4 points ago +4 / -0

Smart phones gave internet access to your average everyday retard normie NPC. Something like 50% of Gen Z gets their internet access through a phone.

3
VirPopulus 3 points ago +3 / -0

Look into ZeroNet; the small learning-curve, combined with the fact that it is not available on mobile, keeps out many of the retards. It's also decentralized and anonymous.

8
Error404 8 points ago +8 / -0

And I’m sitting here wondering ... fuck me why did I let that happen? Our information has enslaved us to those at the top of the tech oligarchy and chained us to the three letter fucksticks.

12
MR_ROBOT1776 12 points ago +12 / -0

Same, it was executed well. On one hand we have all these great free services but on the other hand we're the product. At first that was awesome but now it controls every aspect of our lives and economy while we're forced to use it. Now they can flex their muscle whenever they feel like it and cutoff your bank account, etc. We were too slow to make laws against it and the new regime is taking full advantage.

It won't be long before cash is made obsolete. The social credit system is already in place, it's just not using that name. Google, FB and Twitter have already implemented an algorithmic scoring system for content and ban / shadow-ban individuals. They'll probably keep pushing the envelope until we get an obvious social credit system like what's used in China.

17
The_Litehaus_Abides 17 points ago +18 / -1

Didn't the whole "fact-check" bullshit start with the 2016 election?

I remember Hillary Clinton actually saying at a debate to go to her website and fact check whatever Donald Trump had just said in the debate.

She couldn't counter him on live tv, so she sent viewers to her website. It was ridiculous.

14
MR_ROBOT1776 14 points ago +15 / -1

That's when it really took off. There was probably some stuff leading up to it like monetization of the internet and woke media sites realizing they could get clicks by creating controversy. Their readers got to read about a boogieman that doesn't exist while jerking themselves off to their moral highroad.

It was a double dose of dopamine for people addicted to internet points after the rise of social media. MySpace may have seemed like an angsty teen site at the time but looking back, it was probably the pinnacle of the internet. We had everything we have today, including a way to make your own career online but without all the extra corporate and political control. Tom sold that thing and disappeared just in time.

6
Carry_Your_Name 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah, this is the Big Tech cabal's business mode. Get you addicted to their platforms, make you stay there as long as possible. Senator Hawley's book The Tyranny of Big Tech explained it all in gory details.

I’ve been on presearch for a while. Occasionally I need to use its ddg feature.

2

10
pup1pup 10 points ago +10 / -0

I doubt it. Google is probably outsourcing these designations to a third-party shell organization. Some people will create a non-profit called "Ivy League Website Fact Checkers" or something, they will flag all conservatives website as "disinformation" and "dangerous" (along with a few token liberal websites). Google will announce a partnership with them and follow their recommendations to the letter. After all, why not. This group was created to do what Google wants: censor conservatives. If they get sued, the group has zero assets. Worse thing that happens is a new non-profit is created the following week.

6
Judicator 6 points ago +6 / -0

Google has had their hands firmly around the legal system's balls for a decade or more, now, too.

If you don't know about how Google has been raping patent law to effectively steal patents and then re-secure them, you should dig around and find out. It's nuts.

Arizona Audit isn't being released for a month though.

13
Kanime1224 [S] 13 points ago +16 / -3

I've heard preliminary data coming out tomorrow (Monday) not the full report. Just what they found in the paper audit.

13
PorchLightOn 13 points ago +13 / -0

Karen Fann, AZ Senate president, pushed back on this in a tweet last night. Looks like the Monday release of information is something that got pushed by Gateway Pundit, and didn't come from the Senate. It's unclear if there will be an interim report or not. More discussion in this post: https://patriots.win/p/12jJBnfGga/monday-is-coming/

12
Amaroq64 12 points ago +12 / -0

2

Gateway pundit is an opinion columnist focused on hopium to get traffic.

But it pretends its real news. It's shit. It's fake news.

4
Kanime1224 [S] 4 points ago +5 / -1

Damn, well I hope there is a release Monday. Im tired of waiting I just want a taste of what they found

3
PorchLightOn 3 points ago +3 / -0

Me too. I thought the "Monday" part was awfully precise; most of their communications about the completion schedule have been very fluid from the start. Every time one part of the audit is finished, confusing news reports go out making it sound like it's all been completed, but Fann says they have more work to do.

AZ Rep Mark Finchem was talking on WarRoom about an interim report coming out before the final report, but I don't think the AZ Senate has confirmed that yet.

3
Kanime1224 [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah I may be wrong I thought Monday for the preliminary report, because I've seen a few posts on it.

1
SpaceRat 1 point ago +1 / -0

One can definitely hope. Watch the DOJ come out with some bullshit to seal the results.

2
NighT93 2 points ago +2 / -0

The DOJ might be the reason they won't give specific dates, harder to plan a false flag when you don't know the date.

2
QLARP 2 points ago +2 / -0

The schedule being fluid would be very charitable characterization.

6

3

I’d like to know where the assertion that anything is releasing originated from since Karen Fann is currently stating it is fake news and the timeline has been made clear since the beginning of the audit.

They are way in over their heads. The information is getting out, and they are having to resort to ever more extreme methods just to keep from being run over by it. They are too committed to turn back now, they have to follow the path the chose, which will ultimately terminate at the end of a rope.

Australian politician called out Ivermectin on the floor. It’s pretty hard to censor that entirely.

3
Carry_Your_Name 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes, the truth is getting out, but they are confident that it won't matter, because they're taking the Brave New World approach, that is, create a totally demoralized and desensitized population of sheeple who don't care about the truth even if you present the hard evidence right in front of their eyes. They can have a tour in Auschwitz or a soviet gulag, then they just shrug it off, go back to their lives and move on to the next task on their tight schedule.

We’re all in this together.

It's so discouraging that a big part of the population is apparently just fine with letting somebody else decide what information is "trustworthy" or "misinformation."

I wish more people fought harder for the right to think for themselves.

Try http://yandex.com/ It's a Russian search engine! Yeah, results can be QUITE different.

And this is new?

Why even trust them? Their prior ingressions into US politics have already shown their willingness to wield their unconstitutional jewry power

“This claim about the election is disputed”. You forget so fast?

Fuck them. Break them up. Kill them.

2
Kanime1224 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't trust them. But normal people still use Google daily. For me I have my life pretty much degoogled. But I'm talking for those who aren't as tech savvy so they go with the stock search which tends to be google

5
friedchicken 5 points ago +5 / -0

Search is the tip of the iceberg anyway;

delete google voice, google mail, google docs, google calendar.

They’ve leached themselves into your life in ways you can’t even imagine. Make sure you have a script blocker to block google-analytics and other google services on the websites you visit

1
Carry_Your_Name 1 point ago +1 / -0

And don't use any phone with Android, even though the only other alternative is Apple.

2
friedchicken 2 points ago +2 / -0

Nothing wrong with Apple. Apple is an American company.

Kanime1224 [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I use brave for everything. Have to keep my Gmail for a few things sadly. But I'm slowly transferring off. I use lots of FOSS replacements. My phone has no assistant, docs, voice, calendar and more.

Carry_Your_Name 1 point ago +1 / -0

This really depends on what you're using the internet for. You should have a list of websites that you frequently visit, and then try to find new information through those sites. You can't rely on goolag or any other search engine for every piece of information you seek. You need to bookmark your own sources and prepare a list of alternatives for backup.

Anything related to politics Google is 100% rigged. Seach "Arizona audit" and there are nothing but articles screaming about how it's not "trustworthy" etc. They don't just suppress some opposing viewpoints it's North Korea.

Just as convenient as when Twitter et al added all these Orwellian "misinformation" warnings about a month before the election.

They are playing whack a mole and playing right into our strengths. It's counterintuitive but overt external oppression is a critical and necessary step for an emergent power "us".

The establishment rejects and condemns us and this is good for our cause just and it is to displace the corrupt arbiters of the current order. The fact that the fake president threatens us with nuclear weapons is a sign of their fear.

People (including myself) have caught them not showing results for tricky issues like covid, election fraud, “covid-19 vaccine” issues. I wish it weren’t true.

4

That's pretty helpful, I can now skip all the sites Goolag says are "trustworthy".

Brave just rolled out their search engine.

Just saying. Still early so may need some work..

Duck Duck Go has been disappointing as of late, but is still better than Google or Yahoo. Here are two more alternatives:

https://search.brave.com

https://yandex.com/

Equality72521 4 points ago +4 / -0

I stopped using google some time ago. I was using Duck Duck GO but Brave just released their own search engine so I've made the switch.

'sfunny because an "untrustworthy" site used to mean it could put spam on your computer. or it didn't have a working certificate so it might be a hijacked site. I guess that makes sense.

fuck off google. I don't need your help deciding who I trust. You are a "search" engine, not that I use you.

because they're the ones who KNOW which statues should be taken down and which ones shouldn't, which elections are fair and which ones are fraudulent, which people are just and which ones aren't, what people should be treated based on the color of their skin and which ones shouldn't -- they really should change their name from Google to just God

For a million other reasons, get off Google. I like to point out duck duck go's features -There short URL https://ddg.gg -The quick loading lite page https://ddg.gg/lite

  • The !BANGS are a great feature once you get the hang of it, set DDG as your default search page, and when you know you want to search a specific site use !BANGS to do it quicker.

Even a couple years ago it was indisputable that google was better than the competition, but now half of their results are censored and the other half are the least worthy for your needs. Any mediocre web browser now has a higher chance of showing the results you're looking for on the first page.

Prior to Nov 3rd, I was trying to comprise a list together of trumps achievements to Red pill folks. I googled this and went through about 10 pages of searching. Maybe a youtube video here and there, about 1 or 2 minutes long, but that was about it. Totally suppressed!!!! I then typed in the exact same search to Duck Duck Go and got tons of list from different sources on the first page. Most of the lists were 125 + points long!

Think about it.... google wasn't blocking misinformation, they were just suppressing the highlights of the career of the 45th president. It's unbelievable.

It's just like how the Facebook algorithm was changed just before the election so that when you posted something there was a delay in when your friends would see it. This was to give time for the Facebook mods to delete any October surprises which they used to stop the New York Post Hunter Biden story from spreading.

I tried using DDG. The search results aren't good, and it's slow. The same is true of Brave- which I am using despite its challenges. The functionality of remembering where you've been, populating the search bar after just a few characters are typed, and voice typing are all gone in the DDG browser. These prices we pay to stay anonymous are too high in my opinion and make it unusable.
