He should've already requested extradition via US Marshals or something.

52
DemsFuckKids 52 points ago +53 / -1

can't b/c DC isn't a state.

74
McFatty7 74 points ago +75 / -1

So what if DC isn't a State? Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and American Samoa aren't States either.

If they're fugitives, they can't hide anywhere in the US.

26
jbDonuts 26 points ago +27 / -1

DC also isn't a 'territory'.

13
Lurking_Waiting 13 points ago +13 / -0

DC is different. It's not even territory of America. It is a city state. One of three. DC shouldn't even exist.

Those territories are their own country with agreements to be territories. It's a different thing and cannot be compared equally.

13
Dontdoxxxmeplease 13 points ago +13 / -0

Perhaps that’s why they chose DC they knew swamp would protect them.

5
kastmaster2000 5 points ago +5 / -0

Now the spiked fence around capitol makes sense.

3
Ghostof_PatrickHenry 3 points ago +3 / -0

DC is an incorporated entity, not unlike a private corporation. This was set in place in the wake of the Civil War. Technically, it is a business, but more important, it is a foreign city that robs us at gun point on an annual basis.

They are violating State, not Federal laws.

That, and I know that Oregon Republicans do the same thing when the Democrats do something too nutty.

26
McFatty7 26 points ago +26 / -0

And you can still be extradited for violating State laws like carjacking, child sexual assault and murder.

You can't just hop over to your next-door State and live out your life free from consequences from the 1st State.

12
MarcusAurelius 12 points ago +12 / -0

The DA and Governor has a say on whether it they will extradite. The Oregon GOP senators and representatives will typically go to Idaho or Utah, where a Republican DA and Governor won't honor Oregon requests to arrest and extradite them.

It's the same reason the Democrats from Texas go to DC. The Biden controlled Federal law enforcement and Justice Department would just say "Oh man, we don't know where they could be? Oh, they are giving a live interview across the street on CNN? Jeeze, that's just too much work."

Of course, the Republican GOP members will at least hide out in the homes of friends and family members, or stay in a hotel under a false name, rather than rub it in everyone's faces that the government will just ignore the law. Rules for thee, not for me.

4
Awakened 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yeah, but do they ever want to return home? Cause they goin’ to jail when they put a foot back in Texas.

6
MarcusAurelius 6 points ago +6 / -0

If the stuff with Oregon is any guideline, they will just stay away for a week. The GOP will say "Okay, we'll drop somethingoranother", and they will return.

2
TBGJC 2 points ago +2 / -0

Can Texas law enforcement detain them under a "fresh pursuit" clause?

1
MarcusAurelius 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm fairly certain that the "call of the house" would fall under civil law, rather than criminal. So, fresh pursuit clause is highly unlikely to be upheld as constitutional.

-1
McFatty7 -1 points ago +1 / -2

where a Republican DA and Governor won't honor Oregon requests

Who cares? When you cross State lines/borders, it becomes Federal jurisdiction.

Now if the Federal Executive Branch decline to enforce extradition, then the Federal Judiciary (Courts) will force the Executive to do it.

0
MarcusAurelius 0 points ago +1 / -1

I'm pretty sure the "call of the house" is a civil law, not criminal. If so, the Interstate extradition doesn't come into play.

That, and if the governor/DA/police are... unmotivated... to apprehend the suspect(s), it usually doesn't get done.

0
McFatty7 0 points ago +1 / -1

WSJ: Texas House Votes To Arrest Democrats Who Fled State to Block Voting Bill

If the Senate votes for this and Governor signs it, then it'll automatically become criminal, hence interstate extradition does come into play.

2fat2queerious 20 points ago +22 / -2

He's warning them not to come back. Everything he's doing is helping them.

7
panthicc 7 points ago +9 / -2

How is that helping them? Texas law has pretty strict residency clauses. The longer they stay away and refuse to vote, the less likely they'll be re-admitted as residents of Texas.

They've lost their seats whether they return or not.

4
2fat2queerious 4 points ago +4 / -0

I guess there's more going on than I was aware if they've already lost their seats and will lose residency in a matter of days/weeks. Can you link me to an explanation there?

My understanding was that they're breaking a quorem by leaving, putting the legislative body at a stand still while they're gone. In that context, he's warning them that they could be arrested when they return so they may as well stay on paid vacation.

2
panthicc 2 points ago +3 / -1

No, you've got it right. Sorry, I shouldn't have written in such definitive terms.

I'm just saying that if they remain out of state indefinitely, they'll lose their residency in Texas and their seats along with it. If they return to Texas, they'll be arrested and will likely also lose their seats (by way of force or by way of vote, God willing).

Tar & feather needs to make a comeback in some fashion. It's hilarious, humiliating and, more importantly, serves as that crucial middle-ground between doing nothing and straight up killing which a lot of people aren't on-board with (myself included).

3
BigDickTurner 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you make the tar too hot, it's an utterly awful way to die.

But I'm sure we'll get it right with enough practice.

2
bidensmissingbrain 2 points ago +2 / -0

Doesn't even necessarily have to be tar. There's plenty of ultra-sticky adhesive available nowdays that doesn't have to be piping hot to work well.

3
BigDickTurner 3 points ago +3 / -0

But it could be piping hot, right?

No impeaching, arresting them is quicker, and wouldn't it be nice if they were accorded the same treatment as those of us who took the walking tour of the US Capitol on January 6th? Indefinite incarceration, no bail, solitary confinement.

It must be legal since they are doing it in Washington DC.

Well think hard here... why do you think they flew to DC? Other states might allow extradition, DC will certainly not.

If the state they're in doesn't allow extradition, what jurisdiction does Texas have to enforce a state law broken?

These democrats are just making a show right now, they have to come back for the redistricting later in the summer. I'm sure Abbott is making a show too, but he did pull their salaries, so now they're not getting paid.

He can arrest them and have their asses forced to show up in the House to vote, but whether or not they'll actually be charged with a crime is a good question. I'd love to see it, but something tells me that's just not going to happen.

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

He knows this very well. I've been railing on Abbott since last summer. I was so pissed off with him, but he did change course this year. The volume of based laws he signed this year is unprecedented, especially in the 2A realm. He called this special session just to get the voting laws changed and he took away the Dem's paychecks for walking out on the regular session. If this was happening back in February, I would be doubtful but I don't see him backing down this time.

Who is going to investigate the story of the planes they took to flee? They belong to a guy from NV, known as an "honorary consul of Lebanon."

Is this the foreign influence in our political process we've heard so much about? Who paid for the two planes? If the DNC paid, do those planes have the appropriate licensing and permits to take paid passengers?

Does the owner of the planes have a FARA license? That seemed to be important for General Flynn and Paul Manafort, although, curiously, not important for Podesta.

Fleeing to the swamp on a private jet. It would be a good parody if it weren't real.

And don't forget the case of beer they had on the bus too! They were totally serious about their morals...

Same thing happened years ago. Governor sent Texas Rangers to capture Democrats who fled to Oklahoma.

As I recall there were many good proto-memes about Walker, Texas Ranger going around.

Except this time, Texas doesn't share a border with the state that these cunts fled to.

Democrats leaving Texas? Whoo-hoo! The only thing better would be if each of them had a Californian transplant under each arm when they got on that plane.

For no reason at all, I suddenly want to know, which oak tree is the tallest in Texas?

In a related story on the DailyWire: "Texas state Rep. Trey Fischer (D) claimed that dozens of Democratic lawmakers who fled Texas Monday needed to fly privately because “everybody wants to see” them together."

The arrogance of these people!

They won't be arrested. The media will call Abbot a nazi Putin fascist for arresting his opposition. Abbotts balls will ascend and that will be that.

Directional 3 points ago +3 / -0

Nah, he's got Allen West keeping him honest now.

thisguy883 1 point ago +1 / -0

This!

Ever since Allen threw his hat in the race, Abbott all of a sudden wants those sweet brownie points with conservatives.

Abbotts people even bought domain names that would have been used for West's campaign so that it would be difficult to start a website.

Abbott is scared he will lose and he should be because he will.

West for Governor!!!
