Those tweets are talking about 2 different things and he's been proven right in the first one. The events on January 6th didn't help to bring any election reform, and they have set back most intelligent debate about it or election fraud.

There is no contradiction in saying "These people shouldn't have done this; but the punishment they are facing for it is unfair"

Rand painted EVERYONE who was in the Capitol with the "violence and mob rule, wrong and un-American" brush in that tweet. Now he pretends to be upset that the people he smeared and fed the narrative against are being arrested and persecuted by the state.

Maybe, just maybe, in the heat of the moment and absent any information, he assumed the worst and has since corrected. But who am I kidding? Everyone in this movement has to e right 100% of the time.

There's a big ass difference between him agreeing that something was wrong, but then not agreeing that it deserves solitary confinement as a punishment, especially pre-trial........

People can still think that day was horrible but not agree with the punishments being given out. Just look at Elizabeth Warren for example - as much as I hate that fucking bitch, she obviously isn't on our side when it comes to January 6th and, ye, she was one of the very first people to stand up for the Trump supporters in solitary months ago..... Not every single thing is as black and white as everyone here wants it to be.....

Read both tweets again. He specifically called the protesting in the Capitol "violence and mob rule." Now he is specifically calling it "non-violent trespassing."

These two statements are directly at odds with one another. Both objectively cannot be true.

pepecofefe 3 points ago +5 / -2

I agree with /u/generated_name. They most definitely can both be objectively true if one is referring to the overall event and the other refers to specific protesters who were arrested and put into solitary confinement.

Both can be true if there were both violent and non violent people there, and the first tweet was made on the 6th. He may very well have though at the time things were more violent than they were.

Rand painted EVERYONE who was in the Capitol with the "violence and mob rule, wrong and un-American" brush in that tweet. He fed that narrative. Now he is pretending to be upset that the same people he smeared are being arrested and persecuted by the state.

A lot of information has come out since Jan 6 that shows that the initial media narrative was a blatant lie. Is it so inconceivable that Rand was fooled by the early press but now knows better and changed his opinion?

7
SaltySteffie 7 points ago +9 / -2

I agree. He’s just taking reading of which way popular opinion is going in conservative circle and calculating how he can make the most money.

We are too forgiving/willing to forget. These politicians screw us up the ass, no lube, for years. Then they do or say ONE tiny thing that they should have said or done anyway, once, and we forget/pretend their dry ass-fucking of us never happened.

Til we stop taking it up the ass, this won’t change. We need to NOT let them get anywhere near our assholes. .

4
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 4 points ago +6 / -2

Exactly. Unfortunately, we are fighting an extremely uphill battle because even here too many people prefer making excuses for certain RINOs and parsing words and ignoring history.

1
SaltySteffie 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes. I’ve noticed the excuse-making. 😰 I get it somewhat- we have been so fucked over by our elected “representatives” for so long that when they do ONE thing right (that they should have done without a problem in the first place), we let ourselves believe that they’re back on our side.

They’re not, though! This last year and a half especially has shown us how bad they ALL are.

These people have instant access to communicate with the entire USA. All they have to do is hold a press conference and immediately they could reach the whole nation. Did ANY of them use this access to address the election fraud/the stolen election?? Did ANY of them use this access they have to defend the million people who did nothing wrong on January 6th? Have ANY of them used this access to expose the 530 patriots in DC jail right now for walking into an open Capitol??

They are a disgrace.

Didn’t rand vote to certify the election?

5
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 5 points ago +6 / -1

Why, yes indeed he did.

4
Homemade-Soap 4 points ago +4 / -0

Certified the stolen election. Fuck Rand Paul. He can swallow a heap of jalapeño-flavored dicks.

4
Fuck_The_NWO 4 points ago +4 / -0

The fact people keep falling for it over and over and over again makes me really want to just pack up my stuff and disappear onto my land and be done with this.

They don't fight when it matters most and usually grift, just like Fox News that people ran back to watching.

3
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 3 points ago +4 / -1

So many battered conservatives defending their abusers. So many. It is quite disheartening.

3
BS2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

and he didn't notice we we've been complaining about the injustice of that DAY and the arrests for more than 6 months now

1
I_Used_to_be_me 1 point ago +1 / -0

Um. This makes him look good, not bad. Just looks like he didn’t have a full picture the moment it happened and made a post that condemned violence (reasonable), then saw enough to know what actually happens and is now saying all the same shit we are

1
SakaSouffle 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed. Rand is useful when he's useful but I would not advocate for him nor would I defend him.

1
March4Macragge 1 point ago +1 / -0

It’s sad that he is one of our best politicians. Feels bad man.

1
Dabalabadingdong 1 point ago +1 / -0

I see no other Republican put fauci in his place like him….Rand Paul is an American I’d vote for

1
AngryCitizen 1 point ago +1 / -0

No - he was being appropriate and responsible.

Mob Rule is what the Left is bringing.

He is one of the leaders of the formerly Free World.

He didn't condemn anybody - only the tactics.

And he's right.

1
Julius_Severus 1 point ago +2 / -1

Those statements are not incongruous

A person can say what the capitol protesters did was wrong but that the punishment was excessive

A person can also condemn the capitol protesters while demanding to know why BLM rioters were let off the hook

Most Republican politicians won't even mention the horrific treatment of the capitol protesters. Some actively support it.

sully 2 points ago +4 / -2

A lot of people on this site cannot grasp a changing of opinion based on new facts. The majority of anti-Rand people on this site are Blackpill dooming mouth breathers like Anaconda who can't stop crying about bUhHh RaNd pAuL cErTiFiEd a FrAuD eLeCtIoN, as even if he didn't we still wouldn't be where we are today.

2
DickTick 2 points ago +3 / -1

Careful, seems like a large chunk of our people around here want every single situation to be absolutely black and white/ cut and dry.....

-3
IncredibleMrE1 [S] -3 points ago +2 / -5

He specifically called the protesting in the Capitol "violence and mob rule." Now he is specifically calling it "non-violent trespassing."

Julius_Severus 0 points ago +1 / -1

Look, I'd love it if every capitol protester was let out of prison and given a medal and a pension.

But Rand isn't the world's biggest asshole for pointing out that while some of the capitol protesters might have assaulted police officers, many of them have been charged with non-violent crimes that do not justify their harsh treatment.

0
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 0 points ago +2 / -2

Rand painted EVERYONE who was in the Capitol with the "violence and mob rule, wrong and un-American" brush in that tweet. Now he sheds crocodile tears because the people he smeared and fed the narrative against are being arrested and persecuted by the state.

1
JwPATX 1 point ago +2 / -1

Copy and pasting the same response over and over doesn’t bolster your argument.

1
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

Aw, begging for a customized reply. Here you go.

0
Julius_Severus 0 points ago +1 / -1

It doesn't seem like the best plan to reject one of the only politicians even remotely sympathetic to us on this issue

I like Trump better than Rand but come on, people around here will forgive and defend Trump for almost any mistake, but Rand has to be perfect?

1
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

Senator Pocahontas - who everyone here hates and makes fun of constantly - said all the way back in April that she doesn't agree with putting the Capitol protesters in solitary. She's been supporting us on this issue longer than Rand has. Should we forgive her for the mistake of being a commie?

0
2008RonPaul2012 0 points ago +1 / -1

Possible he was specifically talking about agents provocateur when he talked about mob rule and violence. It seems some of the political prisoners were actually non-violently trespassing, while others truly were engaged in violence and mob rule.

1
IncredibleMrE1 [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

Then he would have said so. Rand painted EVERYONE who was in the Capitol with the "violence and mob rule, wrong and un-American" brush in that tweet. Now he pretends to be upset that the people he smeared and fed the narrative against are being arrested and persecuted by the state.

0
2008RonPaul2012 0 points ago +1 / -1

He's a politician. I'm not disagreeing, but I imagine these party creatures are under pressure. Did he fail to stand up for Trump and his voters? Yes. Did he certify a fraudulent election? Yes. But I am hoping many who appear to be so cowardly are waiting for their moment to strike back. That's my hope, though I don't have high expectations either.

-1
sully -1 points ago +2 / -3

Bullshit. Antifa who were there were violent and mob ruling. Trump supporters who were there, were non-violent.

Both are true. Get your head out of your ass.

-3
IncredibleMrE1 [S] -3 points ago +2 / -5

Rand painted EVERYONE who was in the Capitol with the "violence and mob rule, wrong and un-American" brush in that tweet. You are being disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

1
JwPATX 1 point ago +1 / -0

Those tweets are not even close to mutually exclusive.

1
entwickelnden 1 point ago +1 / -0

this isnt a contradiction. jan 6th turned into a bit of a shit show but they shouldnt be in prison and treated like that. even blm rioters shouldnt be treated like that in prison, its unamerican.
