She denied someone else the chance to compete in the Olympics. Fuck that cunt.

284
Unsilent 284 points ago +288 / -4

Since it was a team competition, her weak opening dragged the rest of the team down making it all but impossible to win gold. At least she pulled out so they didn’t loose the silver medal too.

145
War_Hamster 145 points ago +159 / -14

If she still participates in the individual events, it's going to tarnish what was a great reputation.

Simone had a pretty rough family life and has mostly handled herself very well publicly. I've always rooted for her, so hope nothing negative surfaces.

168
resoluteAction 168 points ago +171 / -3

She choked because of her leg injury and getting a bad score. If she had performed in the last event they could have gotten gold.

She has never lost before or had a serious injury before. She lacks mental toughness. That is it.

Great God given ability, but she tucked tail and quit and the first sight of real adversity.

193
coolhandcuke 193 points ago +193 / -0

I remember Kerri Strug who hurt her leg but did one more vault and her team won the US gold. Now she was a class act.

128
16BeatsAOne 128 points ago +128 / -0

Excellen pont. Strug's second vault is Olympic lore. Simones Bikes and her quitting on her team is shameful. So when the pressure of competition is most high, Simone quits? That is not a legacy -- that is an excuse.

74
jennyfrutex 74 points ago +74 / -0

I remember watching Kerri Strug and her amazing vault when I was a kid, and even today, rewatching it again, the look of sheer determination on her face was incredible. What an inspiration. That whole team kicked ass.

43
16BeatsAOne 43 points ago +43 / -0

Exactly so. That is a legacy DECADES LATER.

7

blankoutcome 4 points ago +4 / -0

Everything about it is iconic, legendary. Bela Karolyi carrying her afterward is such a powerful image.

I watched a documentary about the Karolyi’s recently with my daughter and this event will always stick with me.

Another famous event of an athlete playing through injury is Bert Trautmann. He served as a German paratrooper in ww2 and when signed by Man City as a goalkeeper in the 50s he was vilified constantly. He broke his neck in the ‘56 FA cup final and kept playing for the final 15 minutes making several spectacular saves to win the game. 3’days later the pain hadn’t subsided and he had an X-ray to find 5 dislocated vertebrae, the 2nd broken in 2 with the 3rd wedged into it that prevented further damage that could have killed him. His performance under such circumstances endeared him to the public and opinion thawed.

69
Saltybitch 69 points ago +71 / -2

Strug had a true injury, Simone may have been hurt. Her ego, I'm afraid, was shattered.

16
bclautz 16 points ago +17 / -1

Strug had a bad ankle sprain

26
jennyfrutex 26 points ago +26 / -0

If I remember correctly, she tore two ligaments in her ankle in the first vault, then pushed through. She was limping on her way to the second vault, but once she started the approach, she was on fire.

12
ItCameTrue 12 points ago +15 / -3

One time I got an ankle sprain when bad luck resulted in my foot bending up to touch my shin.

I couldn’t run for three months and I continued to have pain for seven years.

I work 10 hours a day in one hundred plus degrees, have dislocated three ribs and finished my shift, etc.

I’m not going to cast any judgement on an ankle sprain.

What’s up with women athletes and weak mental toughness? Read an article praising her and Naomi Osaka for their mental weakness.

Brett Favre’s dad passes away and goes out the next day and throws 500 yards and 4 TD’s. This girl isn’t injured or facing any tragedy or adversity and just bails on her team.

24
resoluteAction 24 points ago +24 / -0

It depends on the athlete, Kari strugg comes to mind. Simone has been treated as the 2nd coming since the beginning because she has always dominated. She lacks the experience of adversity.

snuggs316 26 points ago +31 / -5

she's had plenty of adversity in her young life...foster care for the first 3-4 years of her life, molested by the team dr., had her medical issues leaked online (adhd). she's been in the spotlight since she was 8--that's14 relentless years and she's behaved impeccably; no ego trips, no temper tantrums, no anti-American sentiment. at 22, after years of being the team linchpin, she broke and recognized the need for mental help. she cut her own rope so her teammates could go on and do well; that seems awfully mature to me.

we talk about the need for mental health help in this country, but we shame those who seek it. and for all the arm chair quarterbacks: unless you've spent years under intense scrutiny, worked your ass off and won 6 olympic medals, 4 gold, for your country, all by the ripe old age of 22....y'all can sit down.

7
resoluteAction 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's OK to seek help. Doing though with your team on the line just means you aren't the goat. She's more scottie pippin than Michael jordan.

5
KickingPugilist 5 points ago +5 / -0

That accomplishment by Favre is something out of the world. Dude was a gunslinger and pushed through all sorts of injury, sometimes to his detriment.

When the jets picked him up he had a great start, then fell off. It turns out he had been playing through an arm injury, torn bicep I think, but didn't want to take a game off so he could continue his Ironman streak of consecutive games.

3
nickBoB 3 points ago +4 / -1

It was a torn bicep, and he should have sat out, but he put his ego ahead of the team. Biles put the team above her ego. I guess an injured Favre is better than a healthy Jay Feely!

1
KickingPugilist 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree, but it's what happened 8n regards to Favre's stint.

High hopes for Wilson, though. Sam couldn't cut it but with the line the Jets had and Adam Gase as coach with no QB coach, he's been destined to fail. Seems like a good kid.

Anybody know if she got the vax?

I would expect a lot of mystery injuries of the vaxxed for all the vaxxed athletes.

13
Based_in_Space 13 points ago +14 / -1

Like the soccer player that collapsed with heart stoppage last month. Who surely “coincidently” had gotten vaxxed a couple weeks prior.

3
FreddyThePatriot 3 points ago +3 / -0

Sometimes it's coincidental, sometimes it's not.

3
KickingPugilist 3 points ago +3 / -0

That has happened in the sport before, though.

De La Red from Real Madrid had to retire young because of a heart issue that came up like that.

Jose Antonio Puerta died from a cardiac issue very young, I think he played for Sevilla.

Other players like that, too.

So it's hard to tell because The Danish player was the only one this happened to, yet myocarditis is a side effect in young men with the vaxx.

11
TarHeelMAGA 11 points ago +12 / -1

I am a former athlete. Played in college and semipro. Anyways, I’ve been wondering the same thing. I’m sure some of these athletes are brainwashed dummies. I just wonder if which ones got the vaccine, and if any are struggling from it.

1
Unzipped_Patriot 1 point ago +4 / -3

I feel like a lot of high profile people like athletes fall into one of two categories of being vaccinated: 1. They got a fake placebo vaccine or 2. Because of the great physical shape that most world class athletes are in, it will take longer for the vaccines to destroy them if they did take a "real" vaccine. Just my own opinion based on absolutely nothing.

2
KickingPugilist 2 points ago +2 / -0

Idk MLB injury rates went up after they got vaxxed from what I read in other threads.

2
alfredbester 2 points ago +2 / -0

Pretty sure they all had to get vaxxed.

4
FakeNametag 4 points ago +4 / -0

Cole Hocker, 1500m runner, is not vaxxed. People were pissing and moaning about it on a track and field website I regularly visit.

2
alfredbester 2 points ago +2 / -0

3
Shroudedf8 3 points ago +3 / -0

5
Itaintall 5 points ago +5 / -0

I don’t know man; to compete at all at that level, one has to be pretty tough.

6
Themis595 6 points ago +6 / -0

There are plenty of stories of star athletes with phenomenal natural talents and abilities, that also had horrendous childhoods. These athletes often have no real support system. A large extended family with their hands out isn’t support. An agent is no substitute for support. Growing up the way they did, they often lack many of the elements that comprise good character. Because their character hasn’t been polished, they often don’t know what hit them when fame, accolades, the piranha press, and tremendous fortune land all over them. And then they often fall apart. It’s sad to watch. I don’t know what Simone Biles’ mental issue is. I hope she doesn’t come out with some victimhood story. A few weeks ago she was practicing with a sequined goat on her leotard. That sounds like the utmost in confidence. Naomi Osaka said something to the effect of never being able to recover being booed after beating Serena Williams. That sounds like she needs to up her mental toughness if she is to compete on the world stage. And she quit citing mental health too.

4
RStroud 4 points ago +4 / -0

I agree. It is an achievement to even compete at that level. The yips can happen to anyone, and there's something to be said about walking out on a high note rather than embarrassing yourself with a bad performance. Just the same, we can recognize that she choked in the clutch and that likely cost her team an even greater achievement. We (and she) will never know what she could have done if she sucked it up. She'll be remembered for that, for better or worse.

2
Itaintall 2 points ago +2 / -0

2

13
Dictator_Bob 13 points ago +13 / -0

Yeah, here is Ron Paul at UCLA in Southern California:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsksurdF7eE

A lot of new Republicans born that day and all of those kids are still out there working their careers. It is a shame the media was captured and is being used to suppress them.

At the time of that video even Obama wasn't pulling those numbers. They were scared shitless of Dr. Paul. So, Dr. Paul became a racist and everyone else did right after too -- coincidentally, I'm sure.

9
EvanGRogers 9 points ago +11 / -2

They're libertarians, not Republicans

7
Dictator_Bob 7 points ago +7 / -0

Well gosh darn it is almost as if there is a way to convert Californians over to a political ideology that is not insane! I remember registering as a Republican for the first time because of Ron. I know many who did the same and many who are in the political apparatchik today because of him. All Republicans.

Republicanism was subverted by the neocons at that time. So we could argue that these kids were ten times as "republican" as they were then. Even more so now!

2
Liberty_Prime 2 points ago +3 / -1

Some people think anyone who doesn't think Hitler was neat keen is a "libertarian."

4
Worldtraveler0405 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yep. Biles is one of those athletes you do continue to admire after what's happened the past few years under Trump. She didn't kneel or disrespected the flag or anthem. Also, being grateful for being able to be brought up in a loving foster family.

2
Demig80 2 points ago +3 / -1

Personally I think it's dumb to hate a person if they don't like Trump. There's a big difference between disagreeing with my political views and going full Liberal Woke mob. I'm not a fan of what Liberals are doing, but we gain nothing by being just as intolerant.

If you kneel to the flag and act like an asshole.. Then all bets are off, but I honestly feel bad for Biles. There are plenty of "woke" athletes that deserve to lose more than her IMHO.

1
zaku 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's why I like her and she is a great gymnast too. Disliking somebody because they don't like Trump is silly.

2
Worldtraveler0405 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yea, it is. Disliking is different than "f#ck! Trump" you know as pinhead De Niro once did. Biles also wasn't generalizing Republicans as Nazi's.

2
BlackPillBot 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’m pretty sure her brother is a murderer too.

2
War_Hamster 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hadn't heard that.

I'm willing to bet I'll end up hating her once the media gets done parading her out on woke talk shows, and they'd use a factoid like that as a badge of her courage.

1
BlackPillBot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yup.

2
War_Hamster 2 points ago +2 / -0

And now she's pulled out of her individual events as well, and the media is already spinning her as courageous.

From my inbox this morning:

Biles has nothing to prove to anyone. She's already the all-time greatest. Could there be a better advocate for mental health than arguably the most respected active Olympian in the world? Mental health is physical health and should be treated as such. Mental health can obviously impact physical well-being, too, and it's this that we should keep at the front of our minds ..."

You know where this is leading....

33
Prometheus76 33 points ago +34 / -1

She landed and bounced out of bounds, so she got a deduction for it. She can do a couple of tricks that no one else can do in floor exercise, but she can't consistently stick the landing. She thinks she should get extra credit for the difficulty (she does) and that they should ignore her mistakes because what she can do is so amazing.

She then didn't stick her landing on uneven bars and quit the team competition for "mental health reasons".

22
BigPanda71 22 points ago +22 / -0

My understanding is her vaults aren’t given a higher possible score because literally no one else can do them and to score them correctly would give her an “advantage” and possibly lead to other people attempting them and getting injured. Which is bullshit, if we’re being fair.

But she also fucked up her only vault today, so it didn’t even matter in the end

13
Dallasguy 13 points ago +14 / -1

Degree of difficulty is kinda moot when you can't stick a landing.

5
BigPanda71 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. We can argue all day that she’s being penalized to being “too good,” but today she fucked up the only vault she did before she walked out on her team.

8
Southern_Belle 8 points ago +8 / -0

source? All I could tell so far is that she quit due to mental health issues, so no idea why people keep spreading this here without sourcing it.

14
bubadmt 14 points ago +15 / -1

Asking for a source is inherently racist. Blacks don't have internet access, so they can't offer any rebuttals or testimony as to how this event has scarred them. So we need to proceed with care and believe all blacks.

Reports say “mental illness”. Surprisingly, some people on Reddit are actually calling her out and saying that she quit because she wasn’t mentally tough.

Let’s be fair. She didn’t do this for some BS virtue signaling ala China’s favorite cuck boy Lenin James. She did it because she’s mentally weak.

22
Skatemyboard 22 points ago +24 / -2

She did suffer sexual abuse at the hands of Dr. Nassar. I do feel for her if she's still dealing with emotional baggage.

2
RussianBot4Trump 2 points ago +3 / -1

I see both sides. I’ll get downvoted first this, but I think what she did was selfless and honorable (but NOT heroic or strong) because she believed that if she stayed on, she would lose the silver for the team.

HOWEVER, if she competes in the individual competition, I’ll take it back because someone doesn’t recover from having a break in their mental health that quick, and she would have proven that she was only making excuses.

And if she competes and wins gold… forget it.

So for now, she has the benefit of the doubt.

2
Skatemyboard 2 points ago +2 / -0

So how do you feel now that she competed for herself in the beam? Just curious!

2
RussianBot4Trump 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’m really not all about feelings, but I wonder how the person who was going to replace her feels?

She brought the team down from gold to silver. She did the right thing by stepping down, albeit for the wrong reasons. However, her replacements all won gold or silver.

But then she returns to feed her ego and have her last shot…. and takes bronze.

Nope. I’ve got zero respect for her. I’ll take a wait and see approach for anything, and this one played out very interesting.

How do I feel? Doesn’t matter. How does the one who was her alternate feel? She can’t say because her career would be over.

1
Skatemyboard 1 point ago +1 / -0

Good point. Someone on Glenn Beck said this:

"It was a selfish, narcissistic act, a deed that perfectly defines coddled and selfie-obsessed Millennials. The only people who don't see it this way are the growing number of sports experts and fans who interpret all actions through a racial lens. The people making sports more racist again. They don't see an elite athlete folding in her biggest moment. They see a black woman who must be defended as though the plight of black people depends on her reputation."

She is BLM so we'll see if she realizes that liberalism can bite ya in the ass.

Here's another one, from ESPN: "Instead of labeling this night a disappointment for the American team, perhaps it's a time to celebrate the ushering in of a new era: one in which gold medals take a backseat to mental health."

This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. There were a lot of girls who would have LOVED to have competed at the Olympics, but didn't make it. And here we have an athlete who screwed up her first event, declared she wasn't feeling it, and quit. And THEN we have the media telling her that it's all okay, that it is not only acceptable to just quit and bail on her teammates, but that it is to be celebrated! What the actual fuck?!

If she wasn't feeling one hundred percent and had withdrawn prior to starting the meet, okay. She has my sympathy. But during the meet?

11
randomusename 11 points ago +11 / -0

Perfect summary. During the meet is what does it.

I don't know enough of the sport and her talent level, but all the press was there is Simone and then there is every one else. To the point where if she could could put together a decent for her performance they would have a chance. I guess not tho.

20
maga_mama_757 20 points ago +20 / -0

Her talent / difficulty level is so high that she could have performed really watered down versions of the remaining three routines and still brought in winning scores for the team. Like, she could have subbed out her triple double on floor (Biles II) and just done two twists....or even just one. It probably would have taken a lot of stress off of her to just play it easy and safe. (Easy and safe for her, that is.) It is mind boggling to me to just withdraw from the whole thing altogether.

My Sis was an elite level gymnast. Those gals face a ridiculous amount of pressure and do not live normal childhoods.

Simone has handled that pretty well so far, so I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but looking forward to hearing the full story.

This is from Gab so not verified the quote, but pretty damning if true:

"I feel like I'm also not having as much fun - and this Olympic Games I wanted it to be for myself"

"It felt like I was still doing it for other people - and that hurts my heart that doing what I love has been taken away from me"

Oh, so you caught a case of the self-entitled Rapinoes? Fuck this person, I don't care about their history, their ethnicity or race, the fact that they only care about themselves speaks volumes about them as a person.

The media in this country so lost. Read an article that started out describing her as the best gymnast in the world and goes on to report that she stepped down because of the pressure of competing.

She is now the former best gymnast in the world.

8
MarginofFraud 8 points ago +8 / -0

If she legitimately got injured I feel bad for her, but let's stop pretending even that would be heroic. Getting legitimately injured and then not being able to compete is not some brave decision but a fact of life faced by any athlete from pee wee football up to professional level. I know plenty of people who got the yips on game day and felt it would be better to take a dive than have to admit to their coach that they weren't up to the task.

7
BroadSunlitUplands 7 points ago +7 / -0

That’s tough for whoever sees years of hard work result in a gold medal at this Olympics, knowing that their achievement of a lifetime just isn’t as impressive as someone performing badly and then sulking off out of the competition.

We do live in a clown world where "quitting" is considered "winning."

4
dahdahdah_dahditdah 4 points ago +4 / -0

Only for blacks is quitting considered winning. It's the soft bigotry of low expectations. If a white male with even a whiff of conservatism pulled this stunt, they would be raked over the coals nonstop by the fake news.

It's sad, because Simone Biles is a world class athlete who has represented her country awesomely well in the past. If she is having mental health issues, then I am not going to judge too much. But it's ridiculous to frame this as a positive. It's a sad failure, full stop.

She quit and they will make it sound courageous.

I don’t really care because this is suppose to be an amateur competition. She doesn’t have to compete. However, she is not “impressive” or “courageous” for quitting. She’s just a quitter. It should be noted she denied another person the opportunity to compete.

Total bullshit from the everyone wins a trophy culture.

3

These Olympics are a joke anyway. I would have quit myself after that pitiful parade of nations. You guys need to factor in the fact that this isn't a normal Olympics either. This is straight up the NWO telling us how life is going to be. If she doesn't want to participate in their bullshit anymore, I don't hold it against her.
