At the 1968 Olympics, American track stars John Carlos and Tommie Smith lowered their heads and raised their fists in the black power salute during their medal ceremony.

Two days later, George Foreman waved around a small American flag after winning the gold medal in boxing. Some people accused Foreman of being a race traitor by showing patriotism instead of protesting. When asked years later if he regretted it, he said "If I could do it over again, I would have waved two flags!"

My dad raised me on that story. I've always loved GF for it.

I remember when i first saw that fight, knew the ending and was still suprised.

George is a happy warrior. My Foreman grill wall next to my MyPillow wall just got 10 steaks taller.

Interesting though is that in that period of time Foreman was anything but a happy warrior, he was a pretty angry dude. So his patriotism must be legit, since it's followed him through many stages in life.

Man based Boxers..Mohammed Ali was also a patriot in his own way as well, his son gave an interesting perspective on how his father would have felt about BLM and Trump as president, he would have called BLM the devil and he would have supported Trump. We also saw Mike Tyson support Trump as well as Evander Holyfield.

It’s so interesting that it appears all the real civil rights heroes would be on the side of Trump.

Ali was quite open about being racist against whites. He went to a Klan rally to promote segregation. He was closely affiliated with the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers, both of which were hate groups like BLM today. He was also terrible to Foreman and Joe Frazier. As far as I'm concerned, karma collected on him.

Before cointelpro black panthers were just a community out reach program that literally started with the only goal of making sure every kid, regardless of race, had breakfast before school.

Watch larry pinkney's interviews with aj. Hes done several over the years. He loathes blm and the current bp party

Yeah and the Klan may have started as a neighborhood watch or something. It still developed into a domestic terror hate group. What's that got to do with Ali being a black supremacist?

We all grow in life man, Ali was akin to Malcolm X..Malcolm realized that his actions of wanting to create a movement based on vengeance and violence was a quick way to end any further gains and would only do his people harm. He was in written correspondence with MLK and it was MLK who influenced much of Malcolm's later views. I believe he was assassinated because he was in the midst of trying to restructure his movement away from the more radical views. I've also never heard Ali say he hated whites, yes he did make the statement that racial groups tend to favor their own, this isn't an untrue statement..

He called Frazier and Foreman both uncle Toms and insulted them numerous times for being friendly toward or financially backed by whites. He literally said, in 1975, that interracial couples should be hanged. He said blacks and whites can't get along and shouldn't live together in the same neighborhoods or go to the same schools. Did he really change? I doubt it, even if he said otherwise. He wasn't an idiot. As the world became more PC and his boxing career was long behind him, yeah, he probably said he no longer thought that way.

Well then I would suspect his son would hold similar positions, I know about him and Fraizer and Foreman but dude he was just a young kid and he had some bad ideas at some point. People grow, we learn and move foreword, what you're doing is the same thing the left does. Refusing to look at the person en totality, instead holding them forever in a previous state unable to move past it. So yeah, I like to think he changed and based upon his later life I'll believe it.

No, what you're doing is like a libtard. You're being an apologist for someone who was openly racist. I guess you think Robert Byrd or Hillary Clinton changed how they think as well. I don't know what some son of Ali (God knows how many illegitimate kids of Ali there are) believes, nor is it particularly relevant. Sins of the father or mother shouldn't be used against the child. Believe me, children will do enough of their own sinning. Sure, Ali could have changed his opinion/beliefs later in life, but without compelling evidence to prove it, I have no reason to believe it. Just because you like him as a boxer doesn't mean he wasn't a piece of shit as a person. It takes a special kind of scumbag to shit on someone who helped you when you were down. Ali chose to not go to war, and he served an easy house arrest for it, while Joe Frazier paid his bills. Then he calls Frazier every name in the book and calls Frazier an Uncle Tom and a race traitor. Oh well, at least God smacked his ass down with Parkinson's.

So, we should always hold people accountable for every action they've ever done or thing they've ever said, no matter how they chose to live their lives even if they became someone completely different later in life? Remind me how I'm the liberal here? Sounds an awful lot like a purity test that one can never win. I'm sure if I had access to your entire life I'm sure you've always been a paragon of conservative virtue..lol

I have had 3 George Foreman grills in my lifetime. All were great purchases and at different times. The basic original one can cook a good steak, not like a real grill, but still good for an apartment or fast fix.

Protip: Do not do fish on them unless you will only do fish on them. That was the demise of grill 1.
