I am grateful you shot an unarmed woman. What a POS, really is stunning. I dislike the democrats but I fucking hate 1/2 the GOP.

unclebobinator 53 points ago +53 / -0

Only half of them? I hate probably 98% of them.

couranto 7 points ago +7 / -0

98%? I hate 99.99%!

Trump, DeSantis, MTG... Who else?

BlueWaterDog 6 points ago +6 / -0

Boebert and Gaetz too.

Kamalas_a_Bitch 3 points ago +3 / -0

Then you got your B-tier somewhat tolerable Jim Jordan’s and Ted Cruz’s that are still cucks most of the time.

NonyaDB 3 points ago +3 / -0

Trump & DeSantis are A-tier. They tend to get things done and are hated for it.

MTG (Mad Marj!) and Boebert are B-tier in that they talk the talk and walk the walk by submitting bills that they know will never come up for a vote and vote exactly like they talk. They also shitpost a lot, which is endearing.

Gaetz is C-tier in that he talks and tends to vote like he talks but he's not jumping in front of a political bullet for anyone.

Jordan and Cruz are D-tier in that they're always talking but never seem to get shit done.

Everyone else is get-fucked-tier.

The government really is the mafia, stealing most of your income for "protection", but really only "protects" you from rival gangs.

Perhaps the government is even worse, at least the mafia won't take your guns, they won't force inject you with experimental jabs (except if you owe them money but that's on you).

The mafia would never break a deal, a deal is a deal. The mafia lend money to anyone and won't inflate the already existing money while doing so.

The mafia doesn't make deals with big tech to censor free speech, the mafia don't throw you in a cage for criticizing them openly, and the mafia would never kill an innocent women just for visiting a public property.

Executing unarmed people without a trial to determine guilt for the non-crime of entering a public building with permission?

Deplora -28 points ago +1 / -29

She most certainly did not have permission to climb through a just-smashed interior window in order to get past a locked door and into a secured hallway that led closer to legislators. She got what she asked for. Capitol Police had no way of knowing what her intentions were if she got through that window, or what she had in that backpack.

Trumpsta 8 points ago +8 / -0

Got what she asked for? Really guy.

Deplora -17 points ago +1 / -18

Yes, she did. And I'm not a guy.

Red_Princess 4 points ago +4 / -0

No, but you are a cunt.

medicpatriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

On the video you never hear anyone shouting commands for her to stop. There was no lethal threat from her, and no warning given, before lethal force was used. Even if your logic was right, they should have shouted a command, since no immediate threat was there. Instead they silently waiting for an unarmed protester to break a window, took aim, and fired a headshot that nobody expected.

JamesBond007 4 points ago +4 / -0

If she was black everyone involved would be in prison awaiting trial and swift conviction

Deplora -2 points ago +1 / -3

Very likely true, and that would be completely unjust.

sjdude 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ever hear of a taser?

Deplora -18 points ago +1 / -19

Ever hear how tasers can't penetrate thick clothing, much less bullet-resistant vests that a criminal engaging in a pre-planned criminal act might well be wearing? I don't think law enforcement should be expected to risk their own lives, much less other people's lives, by avoiding the use of lethal force when they have no way of ascertaining that lethal force is not necessary. If I call police about some random crazy person breaking into my house, I want them to shoot real bullets if they have a clear shot at stopping the crazy intruder that way. And I don't think people who are knowingly breaking into secured areas of the US Capitol should feel confident that Capitol Police won't use lethal force to try to stop them. Babbitt climbed up above the other people around her, in a way that gave police a clear shot at her without risking hitting anyone who wasn't trying to proceed further. That was the last in a long string of colossally stupid things she did that day. The officer who shot her was doing a good job of protecting legislators and staff who had a right to be doing their jobs inside the Capitol.

Trumpsta 9 points ago +9 / -0

Doing their jobs inside the Capitol? Lol. Really lady.

Thereyago 1 point ago +1 / -0

well we know where the capitol police are spending thier budget with "patriots" like this

SteelMongoose 1 point ago +1 / -0

What was she doing to justify being shot that no one else was doing? If shooting her made sense, surely dozens of other people should have been shot, right?

Deplora -4 points ago +1 / -5

She was the one trying to climb through the window to gain access to the hallway beyond the locked door. I didn't see anyone else actually trying to do that. While it's possible that others had tried or were trying at the same time, Babbitt was the one who climbed up above the surrounding crowd, giving police a clear shot at her.

SteelMongoose 1 point ago +1 / -0

I was a cop for a long time. I haven't seen anything in any of the footage I've scoured that looks like a good shoot, especially if no one else was deemed such a deadly threat. And that's before considering the police actually inviting people in and holding the door.

You're trying to apply a use of force standard for one person you don't like that you wouldn't think of applying under any other circumstances.

Deplora 0 points ago +1 / -1

Police certainly did not invite anybody to climb through that just-broken window to get past the locked door and into the hallway beyond. It was an absolutely clear shot that she provided by climbing up above the surrounding crowd. The officer hit his target and nothing else. That's a good shoot. And it ended all efforts by the crowd to get past the locked door and into the hallway.

I would absolutely apply the same use of force standard to anyone else in a comparable situation. Our legislators and their staffs need to be protected, and that means using force to stop intruders. If somebody tries to climb the fence to enter the White House grounds without permission, I expect the Secret Service to shoot to kill, regardless of who the person is and who is occupying the White House at the time.

Cops can now execute unarmed Americans and not have to be identified.

It's time that some departments start doing this. Let's start with the next welfare sucking criminal minority.

Babbitt was an unidentified lawbreaker wearing a backpack containing God knows what, engaged in breaking and entering in an attempt to enter a secured hallway that led closer to legislators. Capitol Police and other security personnel had no way of knowing whether she was an Antifa operative disguised as a Trump supporter or a violent nutjob who imagined Trump would want her to kill some legislators.

We know that there were Antifa plants in the crowd, trying to provoke more violence and mayhem. If she had turned out to be one of them, and had killed one of our legislators, everybody here would be howling that the Capitol Police should have shot her on sight before she could get through that window.

She was no Trump supporter. Trump made very clear that he endorsed only peaceful demonstration. Trying to force your way through a just-smashed interior window to get closer to a necessarily restricted area is not peaceful. I'm sick of seeing people here trying to paint her as some sort of MAGA martyr. She did colossal damage to our cause, and to Trump's personal legacy.

Deplora -7 points ago +1 / -8

deleted 6 points ago +6 / -0
Deplora -6 points ago +1 / -7

nobody in the Capitol was worried about antifa.

Nonsense. Everybody knew that it was near-certainty that Antifa would have operatives planted in the crowd, posing as Trump supporters.

no Trump supporter has been known to commit violence

And that's exactly why someone determined to commit a major violent act in or around the Capitol would have posed as a Trump supporter. Capitol Police had no idea who this woman was, who was wearing a backpack and trying to climb through the broken window to get past a locked door. I'm fed up with hearing excuses like "the protesters were allowed in by police". That may have been partially true about the protesters going through the barricades (though they were only waved through because law enforcement was hopelessly outnumbered and there was no possible benefit to trying to hold back the crowd any longer). But nobody was given any reason to believe they were being given permission to climb through broken interior windows to get past locked doors. I wouldn't defend a BLM or Antifa protester who did what Babbitt was doing, and I'm not going to defend a self-described Trump supporter doing it. Trump obviously did not endorse this kind of action, and genuine Trump supporters weren't engaging in it.

For what? You cannot call yourself a progressive or a humanist if you wanted an unarmed woman to die.

deleted -3 points ago +2 / -5
LogicalPatriot 3 points ago +3 / -0

How? By protesting and occupying a public space unarmed?

Please define her traitorous crime. Protesting and occupying a public space unarmed is protected under the bill of rights. At most you may get her for trespassing but even then, she was not doing anything worse than what the Black Panthers did in 1967 when they occupied a legislature WHILE ARMED and no one got shot.

So you'll need to specify the exact crime that justifies her as a traitor that was severe that death was the only punishment, because I don't see it.

Deplora -2 points ago +1 / -3

She was not "protesting", she was breaking and entering. And Capitol Police had no way of knowing whether she was unarmed, or what her intentions were. She could have had anything in that backpack. You think the Antifa operatives planted in the crowd, disguised as Trump supporters, were open-carrying firearms? Or openly displaying the makeshift weapons and firebombs that they routinely use to cause mayhem? Just how close to legislators do you think Capitol Police should allow an unidentified intruder with a backpack to get, before they take him or her out?

kt524 3 points ago +3 / -0

There were police in the same room she was in looking right at her, they didn't feel any need to stop her so why do you still think she did anything to deserve being shot with no warning?

Deplora -2 points ago +1 / -3

You have no basis for asserting that they didn't feel any need to stop her. Hopefully all law enforcement and security personnel inside the Capitol were engaging in some communication and coordination with each other. What can be seen in the video is that she was shot by someone who had a clear, safe path to take a shot at her. It's certainly a good thing that every officer within sight of her who wanted her stopped didn't try to take their own shot at her. The officer who took the shot was obviously well-positioned to do so, because despite the crowded and chaotic scene, he didn't hit anything other than his target.

And she was warned -- everyone in that stairwell was warned that they were not allowed to proceed further. And the locked door was certainly a firm warning that no one was supposed proceed into that hallway. I keep my front door locked. If I had a sidelight, comparable to the one Babbitt was trying to climb through, should I be required to give a warning to an intruder who is trying to enter my home through the sidelight that was just smashed by his accomplice, before exercising my RKBA on him? Nope.

kt524 2 points ago +2 / -0

You have no basis for asserting that they didn't feel any need to stop her.

Considering general police SOP is to stop and apprehend someone with as little escalation of violence than necessary, yeah, they clearly didn't think she was doing anything worth being shot for. And if they felt like she needed to be stopped, first is verbal warnings, then physical attempts to restrain if the person doesn't listen. Even if there was a weapon visible and being brandished, unless there was no clear way to tell if they were or weren't going attack, they'd still try to get them to stand down. So basically, yes, they didn't think she was doing anything.

Hopefully all law enforcement and security personnel inside the Capitol were engaging in some communication and coordination with each other.

Then if that was the case then there'd definitely be no need for one asshat behind a locked door to shoot into a room when no previous attempts to stop her with no verbal warning, and from the side of the door out of view.

It's certainly a good thing that every officer within sight of her who wanted her stopped didn't try to take their own shot at her.

Gee, I wonder why they didn't do anything then.

And she was warned -- everyone in that stairwell was warned that they were not allowed to proceed further

And now you have no basis. I didn't see any video of anyone being told that, no to mention, AGAIN, that if she was doing anything like breaking the window, she'd be getting yelled at by the police in the same damn room as her and probably even have their weapons trained on her.

should I be required to give a warning to an intruder who is trying to enter my home through the sidelight that was just smashed by his accomplice, before exercising my RKBA on him? Nope.

Irrelevant and an attempt to obfuscate the topic by drawing an emotional response.

LogicalPatriot 2 points ago +3 / -1

Maybe grow some balls and come back with actual thought out facts before pressing pointless presuppositions without any merit, eh?
