how the fuck did we end up in a situation where the people and the government are separate? the basic ideas for having a government are with good intentions... will our grand kids say "yeah, but that was not a REAL government, let's try it again"?

As soon as we gave up one right without consequence, the power shifted. As soon, especially, as we gave up any 2A right. As soon as one gov official overstepped and didn't pay a price or get swiftly removed. It was before we were all born I'm sure. And the thing is our Founding Fathers knew this would happen, bec it's human nature, and that's why they tried to put in safeguards and also to promote a duty to revolt against any attempt at tyranny.
