I'm like yeah, I'm gonna buy land. I'm gonna set up a greenhouse. Maybe get some rabbits. It's gonna be awesome.

What a loser that guy was. Typical, though.

10
dr_gonzo 10 points ago +10 / -0

That's what I've been thinking. My oldest friend is in FL, and I've strongly considered moving there, but this current red trend is rather recent. I'm not at all sure I entirely trust it yet. And if it flips, we already know Democrats will make up for lost time.

There's no doubt the houses are a hell of a lot cheaper than New England though. You can get twice the house down there for the same price.

8
MythArcana 8 points ago +8 / -0

You'll get twice the property taxes to go with the house once they break out Dominion next election.

3
raggedyman74 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm considering it as well, from MA. Where else to go? Texas? Montana?

4
dontwannalivelikeare 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think Florida is too hot for MA people. Maybe you can handle the mountains of North Carolina. I feel like we need to keep NC and GA red so blue exiles should head to purple states like one of those or even NV.

Disagree. Pre plandemic, 3-4 bedroom, 2 bath homes were selling for under 150k in the nicer areas of upstate (central) NY. Sure, I pay $6500 a year in taxes but my home itself was 120k 3 years ago. It's over 200 now ... still accessible to many people. .

Come to Central Florida, specifically Hillsborough County. Anything outside of Tampa is pretty much red, bit Tampa is pushing out.

Also, dont listwn to anyone spreading lies about how Covid numbers are jumping in FL, as my wife and I both work in the medical field and see evidence of propaganda everyday.

Yes, cases are up slightly. No, deaths from Covid are still down. Hospitals are still labeling any death while infected with Covid as due to covid. Maybe not all Hospitals, but many.

Another great county to live in here in FL is Polk, which is right next to Hillsborough and has Grady Judd as a sheriff. Go look him up on youtube. He is savage as he'll at times.

Anyway, welcome to Florida!

7
GainesvilleFlorida 7 points ago +7 / -0

Could you give me some propaganda tidbits, I have a good friend who is RN at a hospital and she is slowly succumbing, talking about how sad it is, so many people dying, truck full of bodies, as if she doesn’t work…in a hospital.

I need to know what to tell her to watch out for

2

Downtown blows donkey balls. The beaches are nice, lotsa cool areas within 45 minutes for boating, hiking, camping. St. Aug has really chill nightlife and great food. Jax has good breweries and a lot of based folks. Mandarin area is an amazing place to raise a family.

14
America_No_1 14 points ago +14 / -0

Yep - had a experience so horrible in downtown Jax that I swore I'd never visit again. Your downtown has some of the most mentally ill homeless people I've seen in any city and I've been to most of them.

10
TanfoglioStock2 10 points ago +10 / -0

For sure. They are batshit

10
America_No_1 10 points ago +10 / -0

Had a homeless dude offer me a chug of beer from his 40 and I politely declined so he threw it on the ground inches from my feet shattering everywhere and then just walked off. Dafuq?

7
AmericanMan00 7 points ago +7 / -0

This old homeless dude stopped me from going in a store, said it was being looted. Just then, a couple young, white hookers come out with handfuls of groceries. They snarled at the old man and he said something smart to them.

It was good entertainment so I get him a tall PBR and I got myself one.

How are gun ranges for rifle shooting in Florida? They are fuck all impossible to find in Southern California

5
TanfoglioStock2 5 points ago +5 / -0

You can find em pretty easily. The range I shoot at most commonly is really nice, but only goes out to 200y. There are others not far from here that go out to 600 or so. We don’t have the awesome long range shit like I see out west.

3
Ass-a-Tony 3 points ago +3 / -0

2
Keith 2 points ago +2 / -0

Largest city in the USA, so there is a lot of sprawl for a city as the population is pretty low, 1200 people per square mile vs. say Tampa with 3500 people per square mile. Lots of black folks with AIDS. It's got a zoo, a beach 20 minutes away. A football team. international airport. River area is cool for night life bar scene. It has potential as a major hub, but that could be 25 years away.

2
NoCoupForYou 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you're willing to commute a good 45 minutes, lots of places around Jax.

Stay North of St Lucie County and you'll be okay. Can't speak for the West Coast.

Sadly, Orange and Seminole are lost/almost lost to local Leftists and overpriced. Brevard (Cape Canaveral) has a great sheriff, Volusia (Daytona) is also okay and both leans R by double digits.

9

DeSantis never implemented a mask mandate, Abbott did.

-1
Kamalas_a_Bitch -1 points ago +3 / -4

End result is the same. Faggot judges overturn or issue injunctions while neither Gov. comes through with enforcement. Schools in both states are bringing back the mandates under their nose. Neither Gov. bans private business from mandating.

2
NoCoupForYou 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, they got a Leon County (Tallahassee) Judge to declare that Parents must be protected from Parental Decisions and the Governor can't mandate their Control, it must be handed over to the Union Members (School Boards).

Orange is mandating masks and I'm pretty sure Seminole is going to follow.

I'm most familiar with Temple & Corpus Christi so may start there. The important thing is to decide what job to look for since I'm most likely going to tell the cushy corporate drone offer to fuck off. Problem is I'll be competing with the Mexicans, and they're probably blue collar so I may not have a choice at first. Bit of a shame I'm not going in the same direction as my degree. I was good at it

Forty_Five 8 points ago +8 / -0

The fuck are you gonna do with rabbits? Eat them?

Get chickens. They're super cheap and easy. Young hens lay an egg a day, and when their laying days are over, then you can eat them.

5
VonTyger [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

Just gonna get one Angora to start and shear him for his wool. See how I feel about taking care of one. Greenhouse is a definite though because I've had success with apartment-based hydroponic farming.

2
Forty_Five 2 points ago +2 / -0

I love that idea. I also love the idea of a greenhouse.

I don't have room for a greenhouse as most of my land is woods. But in the interest of being self sufficient I should probably look into clearing a plot.

4
VonTyger [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Try getting an Aerogarden if you want to try hydroponics. I started with one, then two, then started making my own systems. You got to start small before you invest in anything 👌

Then you better shut up about it. I found a great place and it's still a great place because I don't tell anyone about it. I've learned over the years if you just tell people you're surrounded by corn, they get the idea. Being surrounded by corn is usually a good place to be.

5
hillarysdildont 5 points ago +5 / -0

Rabbit shit is more valuable than the fatless lean meat. Toss the turd pebbles right into your garden, no composting needed, or use it to enrich your compost. Eating rabbit meat alone without any fat added will lead to “rabbit starvation”; fat helps the body absorb nutrients especially protein and is great for the brain. Big sugar wants you to think it’s bad, they’re obviously crooks just look at obesity, soft drink culture and candy obsessions. Fat lines important parts of your brain, needed for proper development and a lack of it can cause early onset mental degradation. Rabbit is served at restaurants usually with something fatty like bacon or cooked in another animals fat- this is important. People with bad seizures especially young children are put on diets with tons of butter and heavy cream and it prevents seizures. T H E M O R E Y O U K N O W

2
VonTyger [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've been wondering about this actually. I know that their poop is usually a solid pellet and therefore relatively easy to handle, which would make composting it or using it as a fertilizer easier in theory. I've been wondering how I might apply that to my hydroponics. Other thing I'm curious about is using bone meal for that too since I've been making and freezing bone broth.

2
hillarysdildont 2 points ago +2 / -0

I know very little about hydroponics, but I imagine any nutrient must be able to dissolve in water - you may need to process the rabbit turds in some way to extract the water soluble nutrients. In any event, you’re in Florida now, that means a full year long growing season so hydroponics really aren’t a necessity, especially if this is an apocalypse sustenance operation considering the energy required to run the lamps can easily replaced by the sun.

1
VonTyger [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm planning a half hydro half natural setup. With a greenhouse I wouldn't need to pay for or set up any lighting, but I'm so used to hydro by now that I can't really see myself doing anything else right away as far as nutrients go.

3
hillarysdildont 3 points ago +3 / -0

Final advice for now, rabbits need cages if you’re harvesting their dookies - giving them free reign in a garden/fenced yard to spread their shit “naturally” will result in them eating your food and making tons more rabbits. Plus they might overheat if there is no shade. Florida’s sun is unforgiving to mammals so for any mammals you’re raising, you must provide adequate shade. Since you’ll likely want rabbit cages, make sure there are fans blowing on them during the hottest hours, make sure they have water all day, and make sure you provide shade. Best of luck!

2
VonTyger [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks and yeah, I know better than to let them roam and have rabbit sex with each other 😆 I'm going to start with just one and keep him as a pet, so it'd be a litterbox approach I think. He'll need grooming and apparently frozen water bottles to lie on.

My dream started coming true recently as well. I've been on the hunt for a place to relocate for the past year or so.

I'm trapped in the rat-race where I have to work hard at a job I hate just to keep up with the cost of living in an area I don't like anymore. It went from red to purple to blue very quickly.

After a lot of reading and thousands of miles driven, I think I finally found my place. Making another drive this weekend to go check it out one more time and sign the papers if everything still looks good.

Decided to buy acres upon acres of undeveloped land in no-man's land. Paying cash up front. Going to use my equity when I sell my current house to have one built on the new property. Logistics of that situation to be determined. If all goes to plan we'll have everything paid for, a creek and rain catchment system, and solar panels.

We have a lot of food stocked up, but we're going to have to work hard to get a sizable garden started and then we can finally be one with our land!

I've always wanted a creek.

Sounds awesome Pede. All I've done successfully so far is hydroponics in an apartment but I'm excited to scale that up. I'll probably start off with a mere half-acre (hydro can be layered vertically pretty easily) and one rabbit, but if all that goes well I want to do more in the future.

I can def see myself doing chickens too, they appear to be easy to take care of and eggs sound easy too.

Some day, the cone of doom...

Come sooner than later because the yanks and commiefornia folk are filling our lovely state up fast, allegedly more red in my peninsula with the migration but we will see, I bought a house on the river for 225 in May, it's appraised for 15k over in just 3 months...people are buying and building all around here

Welcome pede, stay away from miami , fort lauderdale - there are some beautiful spots along the east coast all the way from north of jupiter up to close to jacksonville . Land is much cheaper the further north from miami you go , but you should also look at some of the towns away from the shore - you should also consider places like loxahatchee - all residences have rights to farm and hold livestock on their properties - okeechobee - farm land and farming community - based pedes , multiple other locations if you do not have to live at the beach . Florida panhandle too - some great locations along the shore there too .

I'm starting off in an apartment so that I can drive around and compare lots of plots of land. I'll look into those areas, thanks!

I don't doubt it. If that guy had been governor during COVID the state would be finished right now.

I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me.
