yudsfpbc 113 points ago +116 / -3

He's an astrophysicist.

It's where kids are sent who can't do real physics.

That way they are kept away from real experiments and spend all their time looking at stars.

50
556y308 50 points ago +50 / -0

we got a physics pede in here, KEK

52
yudsfpbc 52 points ago +52 / -0

There's more of us than you realize.

Physics has always been based.

I regret that so many physicists decided to hide their beliefs and opinions rather than chase out the commies who took over the college campuses.

DocOneToo 20 points ago +20 / -0

It's so hard though lol. It took me 2 and half tries to get through physics 1 in engineering school but I flew through thermo 1, 2 and 3 which are dream killers for a lot of people. Don't even get me started on vibration and magnetism or whatever the 3rd year physics course was called.

18
GakLivesMatter 18 points ago +18 / -0

Pain. Pain is what we called 3rd Year Physics courses.

7
anotherthing 7 points ago +7 / -0

Ugh. We had two years of physics as part of engineering. Not sure why they divided it up in to three years in your schools, but yeah. The only thing worse than the wave/electromagnetism stuff was thermodynamics and fluids for mechanical engineers.

8
Truthdose 8 points ago +8 / -0

pfft...math in engineering is a joke compared to physics

1
Android17 1 point ago +1 / -0

those things are sort of interesting tho i wouldnt call it pain

haha

9
yudsfpbc 9 points ago +9 / -0

If you did well in thermo, you could probably cut QM and other more "advanced" topics. Thermo kills most aspiring physicist dreams.

Thermo is so random and so ridiculous you have to suspend belief for most of it to even begin to understand the concepts. Most people can't even start to consider the most basic concepts of thermo.

The first-year physics courses, in my mind, are a bunch of professors trying to dump as much information into their future surgeon's head, either to help the future surgeon learn how to absorb as much material as quickly as possible, or to drive the low IQ ones out of the business. Probably similar for engineers.

Knowing what I know, if a student told me they wanted to study physics I would tell them to skip the first year courses altogether. It's like learning arithmetic when you really need to learn calculus. It's a pointless distraction.

DocOneToo 4 points ago +4 / -0

Thermo is so random and so ridiculous you have to suspend belief for most of it

It's funny you say that because that's exactly what I did. It was so unintuitive. Well, I should say "unintuitive at first" because once the first few concepts kind of "clicked" it made perfect sense. It still took a lot of work of course but since I found thermo absolutely fascinating I just wanted to do more of it. I'm sure you know what I mean. I didn't even have to take Thermo 3 but I took it as an elective lol.

professors trying to dump as much information into their future surgeon's head, either to help the future surgeon learn how to absorb as much material as quickly as possible, or to drive the low IQ ones out of the business

You're good at this. My professor was this way. I actually liked him but he got his PhD at a school that is known basically for the difficulty of the physics dept. This is a problem of course since they made it difficult not for the students' benefit but in some sort of nerdy dick waving contest and that's all he knew. He even said as much almost exactly. I actually liked him but most didn't.

Another issue I had is that I joined the Army, went medical, was a nurse and decided I was over it before going back and finishing school. I was like 31 when I went back and there were a lot of miles, 12 IEDs, about 20 total concussions and a shitload of drugs and booze between first leaving school and getting serious about finishing. It's more difficult than I thought getting in that sort of "scholastic mindset" if that makes sense.

Wave mechanics?

2

Probably similar. I just know my school called it something "& Magnetism". Of course I went to a large state school, not MIT 🤣

I remember seeing a study a while back that looked at the cross-sections between people's academic pursuits & their political/philosophical ideologies.

Natural science folks are inherently predisposed to be BASED AF.

4
yudsfpbc 4 points ago +9 / -5

I went into physics because I really thought God was a cool dude and I wanted to understand more about how he thinks and creates.

I came out of physics understanding why we have to kill all the adulterers. There is no other option. A swift, fair trial followed by execution using whatever humane method we can invent.

5
Friendly_B 5 points ago +5 / -0

Please tell us more.

3
yudsfpbc 3 points ago +6 / -3

Make divorce illegal too.

99% of our social problems disappear, and the rest will have strong multi-generational familes to rely on.

4
JeffEpstein 4 points ago +4 / -0

I wonder why you got -4 votes for that.

I totally agree with you - swift trial, speedy death. Too many perverts alive and around, snatching up little kids and ripping their entire faces off so they can wear them like skin.

3
yudsfpbc 3 points ago +3 / -0

The great part about making the line adultery is you don't even have to mention the other stuff. Women and children don't need to know the depravity of men's souls. We don't need to tell them that the reason Mr. X was executed was actually child sex trafficking. We'll just say it was adultery and be done with it. Re-emphasize how important it is to maintain your sexual lusts within the bonds of marriage and all at the same time.

I am just a humble Bible reader.

I don't accept modern culture's notions of justice and virtue. Because look at where it has gotten us.

It's time to go back to the traditions of our grandparents and great grandparents.

It's time to make the family worth fighting for again.

My physics courses ended up making me a stronger believer in God.

1

It's the atheist physicists that are the weirdos. True fact. Almost all of them believe in some sort of God or divine power.

Look his background up, it's worse than you think. He bounced around a few PhD programs because he couldn't do research. Eventually he was given a team of 6 grad students that hand held him through his PhD. He is a complete fabrication designed to do exactly what he's doing now.

Astrophysicists, the asshole of the physics department

5
yudsfpbc 5 points ago +5 / -0

Usually, it's another department, but they like to pretend they are part of the physics department.

Sometimes the physics department has their students take a few astrophysics classes. When they come back to their physics profs saying, "What a load of bunk that is!" the professor smiles and says, "Well, I guess you can't be an astrophysicist."

I remember a kid who desperately wanted to be a physics professor. He spent his whole life preparing for it. In the undergrad program, he just couldn't perform. He spent more time than anyone else studying, memorizing, doing everything he could but he consistently got bad grades on the tests. I remember taking some time to tutor him and it was like there was a fog on his brain. I figured out you just have to go real slow with him.

Eventually, he quit physics, and became an astrophysicist. I remember talking to him after he made the decision, and he was sad because he truly loved physics, but he understood that he would never be good at it. And besides, stars are pretty.

4
EdgeGuy 4 points ago +4 / -0

Theoretical physics takes the cake. Its only possible home is in astrophysics because we can't reach out and touch the stars. That's how we get "see that black spot out there? That's a black hole." and "see that bright spot out there? That's a black hole". Only in astrophysics.

2
side_o_beef 2 points ago +2 / -0

astrophysics: we don't know what to do anymore but we don't want to lose funding so we're going to create systems of math that have no relationship with the physical world or the observable universe and then use those same crazy systems of math to make predictions. string theory.

3
yudsfpbc 3 points ago +3 / -0

Hey guys! Remember that big bang theory, right? It turns out it's very, very wrong.

I know! Let's invent mass that no one can see.

How much mass do we need?

ten or twenty universes should do the trick.

It's still not enough?

How about invisible energy?

How much energy? 1,000 universes or more.

Ok, now does the math work?

No?

Who cares? Let's publish this.

5
side_o_beef 5 points ago +5 / -0

They had to invent dark matter, dark energy, and dark flow. They can't explain ANY of that shit. Which I'm ok with; we should always be trying to level up.

But then the same people turn around and shit on faith.

There are people whose full-time job involves sitting in a dungeon deep underground monitoring germanium alloy to see if it interacts with dark matter particles. So far it hasn't ever happened. "We need more funding."

3
yudsfpbc 3 points ago +3 / -0

I am reminded of physicists studying the particles being emitted from the sun. We knew that there was missing mass and energy in the beta decay, and so we invented a new particle to explain it, a figment of our mathematical imagination.

It was a long time before we could detect it, and we could detect it only because we were able to predict its behavior.

When we measured the intensity of the neutrino field, we were puzzled because there was still a significant amount missing. Some theorists proposed that if the neutrino was massless, it wasn't frozen in time and could change into a different type of neutrino. So we built detectors to measure them. And we found them at the right intensity to explain most of what is happening in the center of the sun.

Meanwhile, Big Bang Theory has failed on pretty much ever level. I like to say it is the least wrong theory when it comes to the existence of the universe. The best theory, unfortunately, is that the universe doesn't exist.

3
notCIA 3 points ago +3 / -0

Those are rookie numbers.

67
JediDwag 67 points ago +67 / -0

Lol So he's literally making shit up based on a few numbers, while ignoring dozens of other contributing factors, like population density, racial demographics, political affiliation of cities, and who knows what else.

Not to mention that the numbers are all probably bullshit in the first place based on how they determine cause of death.

25
y_do_i_need_to_hide 25 points ago +26 / -1

Most importantly he's ignoring that the definition of those numbers subvert the claim that he's making. People who died of covid overwhelminglybdidn't die of covid, people who are unvaccinated may have had the vaccine 13 days ago. Anything derived from numbers defined that way will be full of shit.

16
mobgrazer 16 points ago +16 / -0

Yep. Get killed by the vaccine before 14 days after the second jab and you are listed as unvaccinated and having tested positive for covid, it is a unvacinated covid death.

5
y_do_i_need_to_hide 5 points ago +5 / -0

Despite the fact that they spell out what they are doing, many people refuse to look. I like to tell people this, because it is one of the easiest things to show them when they call you a conspiracy theorist.

2
side_o_beef 2 points ago +2 / -0

He's gonna have to explain how "vaccinated" people are dying from the coof then. Remember that one woman on here that said she's glad her dad got the clot shot (he ended up dying) because otherwise it could've been so much worse? He could've double died!

I guess he forgot the script. He's supposed to say that inequity causes the 5% unvaccinated, democrat voters to be more heavily affected.

Also, isn't it strange that unvaccinated covid deaths are (slightly) higher than the total excess deaths? Previously, economic downturns have caused plenty of death by themselves. Ah, well. I guess it means the vaccinated are entirely safe, so they can just stfu now.

Just a quick thought outside of a liberal bubble would debunk this. Unvaccinated rate of black people is 75% or so. The whole population isn’t being killed by the virus, just a small subset of fat and old people. Younger republicans not older are most of their unvaccinated. NDT is a fake black science man. Someone find me a better black science man. Black Economist Man is so much smarter than him.

1
Ep1ctetus 1 point ago +1 / -0

In short — this PhD KNOWS he’s jumping to conclusions, intentionally using garbage quantitative methods.

I bet this red pilled a bunch of other scientists as to how fake this guy is.

He just assumed ALL deaths are among the unvaccinated. If he tried to publish that (to anyone reputable), he’d be laughed out of the room and send back to middle school.

1

1
thetiff 1 point ago +1 / -0

1
AllTheWayTrump 1 point ago +1 / -0

I sure hope 95% of dems are vaccinated and that 75% of Republicans are not.

1
BeerAndCope 1 point ago +1 / -0

“Polls show 25% of republicans are unvaccinated, while 5% of democrats are unvaccinated. Therefore 4 out of every 5 unvaccinated covid deaths are republicans.”

That’s not scientific at all. That is a 10 year olds understanding of how it would work.

By the way, do we know the number of vaccinated covid deaths each day/week? Is that reported anywhere?

1
wolfsettler 1 point ago +1 / -0
