I can kind of see where, on some level, red flag laws make sense - no one wants a bona fide lunatic roaming freely with a gun intent on doing harm. BUT, how utterly naive or willfully ignorant does one have to be to trust the government with that power? Hasn't the Covid era taught them any lessons? Those laws will be abused, for political purposes, you can count on it. Stay far away from the slippery slope. Bottom line : shall not be infringed must hold, regardless of potential costs to individuals.

Those laws will be abused, for political purposes

Lefty neighbor doesn't like your Trump and American flags flying outside, calls the cops, claimed you threatened him while waving your gun around.

Cops show up, don't want to risk you might actually be a lunatic intent on shooting people, seize your guns, good luck ever getting them back.

Probably called him the n word, too. Hate crime with a weapon - extra special detention.

Hate Crimes are literally Fake. As well as International Law.

I do not Recognize the UN or Congress as legitimate bodies.

See, part of me wishes chapelle was still doing his show. Having his version of "racial court" could be pretty hilarious. "Sir, may I ask, how many times did you call this guy a nigga in the hour it took to rob the bank?" "Three!" "And according to hate crime law, how many is the minimum required for it to be considered 'hate crime'?" "Five!" "Exactly. As you can see judge, this guy isn't committing a hate crime, at best he is a slight racist!"

Or Congress LOL

OneBigMaga 3 points ago +3 / -0

All crimes are hate crimes. You don't rob, beat up or shoot people you like... Well, at least not on purpose.

Best part it would probably be a black conservative who got called a coon and uncle tom by that white liberal neighbor. Then they called the cops and complained a black face of the neo nazi white supremacist party called them the n word. Include soy tears and endless REEEEE until they temper tantrum there way to getting their way.

Mamapedia 15 points ago +16 / -1

Plausible, for sure.

Wasnt it a black dude with a Trump flag outside brandishing a shotgun, inside his house, to warn the protest party off, who got arrested? And then that protest party clapped?

Or spousal fights, for instance. Female word always against male word. For example: my friends marriage is falling apart right now, and they got in a normal (non violent/not physical) fight last week. Just a normal fight, but the wife called the cops and my friend got arrested for literally doing nothing wrong (he’s peaceful as they come). Had he had a firearm, guess what? He doesn’t have one, nor is he allowed to get another now. This would happen constantly

18
BoomShtick 18 points ago +18 / -0

Had a similar situation happen to me with a bat shit crazy ex. Her exact words were, “how would you like me call the cops and have them take away all your toys? Don’t worry, I’ll hold down the fort until you get released.” Had to de-escalate by bitching out that day, only to have all her shit on the sidewalk and the locks changed after she left. Moved my firearms offsite, only keeping a shotty on premise in case she actually attempted to flag me. Fuck red flag laws and don’t stick your dick in bat shit crazy.

Raising your voice is considered simple assault in most states. It’s seen as intimidation and the cop can determine if it’s reasonable for the woman to be afraid. The problem is cops rarely see woman as a threat to men so it’s only charged against the man.

18
I_Used_to_be_me 18 points ago +18 / -0

I don’t even care about the double standard much - It’s absurd that raising your voice at all could get you arrested. That means every couple in the country is apparently committing an arrestable offense on a regular basis

5
doug2 5 points ago +5 / -0

Uh this one I'm somewhat mixed on. The issue is them arresting the husband on fucking hearsay instead of giving him due process. If someone is literally beating his wife you could convince me it's a good idea to remove weapons from him.

8
I_Used_to_be_me 8 points ago +8 / -0

Sure, but that’s very different than getting arrested because a couple had the same fight they’ve had weekly for years and years - the same kind of fight every couple has - but now the wife decides she’s pissed and wants her husband punished

2
BaldyGull 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not me. If he is not in jail, or otherwise being punished by the court, he is a citizen whose right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Could a judge sentence to disarmament? Not sure if that is a thing, but I would be in favor of that as long as it comes after due process.

The_Bugout_Bag 26 points ago +26 / -0

Only a faggitt would hand over their guns, especially for that reasoning. I know this as the adrenaline that flowed through me when they said "were here to take your guns" as these fucktards came after i was dissmissed of BS. I was not polite. Showed em my fuck off papers and told em to fuck off. I never had an overwhelming issue with police til this year. They can all choke on dicks for all i care now.

I used to be afraid of 4473s, so i've made every gun i've ever owned, until i wanted a 12 gauge. Picked up an 870 clone a couple weeks ago. Now i'm just like "fuck it - let em come for my guns..."

I'm buying a .308 lower in the next few days. I already ordered all the rest of the parts, and just don't feel like setting up my mill to finish my 80% lower. I hear "deer" season opens up soon.

14
Libertas_Vel_Mors 14 points ago +14 / -0

Maaaan... one would think that someone's house would suddenly (and completely accidentally!) catch fire within a week of such an incident.

10
Serulin 10 points ago +10 / -0

Spend thousands and years defending yourself off of a false flag while being prevented from owning a gun due to possible red flag pending investigation.

60
OperationCatSpeed 60 points ago +61 / -1

Nope. I’m perfectly fine with lunatics owning weapons. It expedites the natural selection process.

And considering the number of psychologists and psychiatrists trying to point drumpf as dangerous, you can guranfuckingtee these people are not our friends.

I'd rather face a lunatic with a gun than a rabid Marxist Democrat with a carload full of fake absentee ballots.

His thoughtless statements literally got bump stocks banned and red flag laws implemented. The dude talks when he should shut up and stays silent when he should speak up.

You should takr the vaccine by the way, terrific stuff. Everyone said it couldn't be rushed out in such a short timeframe but boy did we show them.

2
BridgesSoldHere 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lol and who exactly would be showing up for court if they tried that?

42
conservativefrank 42 points ago +42 / -0

Left: Anyone who attended Jan 6 rally can't have a gun - they are lunatics. Anyone who supports Trump is a lunatic - no gun.

Supporting red flag laws is a leftist position - per fucking iod.

32
bidensmissingbrain 32 points ago +33 / -1

I can kind of see where, on some level, red flag laws make sense - no one wants a bona fide lunatic roaming freely with a gun intent on doing harm.

So you think people would be okay with a bona fide lunatic roaming freely, intent on doing harm as long as they don't have a gun?

If someone is too nuts to be trusted with a gun, they're too nuts to live in society and should be withheld from it (prison/rehabilitation) or removed (execution).

10
Mamapedia 10 points ago +11 / -1

Did I say that? Or imply that? You are taking license with my words. But your argument is a good one.

11
bidensmissingbrain 11 points ago +12 / -1

Did I say that? Or imply that? You are taking license with my words.

Yea, you kinda did...

I can kind of see where, on some level, red flag laws make sense - no one wants a bona fide lunatic roaming freely with a gun intent on doing harm.

The only thing RFLs would change in your example would be to remove "with a gun" from the sentence. The bona fide lunatic with intent on doing harm would still be roaming freely.

RFLs approach the problem as a gun issue. It's not a gun issue, it's a people issue. If you want actual results, remove the person from the example, not the object.

-1
Mamapedia -1 points ago +4 / -5

You are making a leap that is not logically supported by my words, irrespective of the issue.

31
The_duck_donald 31 points ago +31 / -0

People don’t realize they already have them. If you are hospitalized for a mental health emergency a doctor is able to sign away your 2nd amendment rights forever. There is no legal Avenue to restoration of your rights, it is just like having a felony on your record... except there is no jury or judge overseeing the process. This is in every single state. Red flag laws are another step further where a doctor doesn’t even have to sign off on it. Absolutely unconstitutional

18
peterstrzoked 18 points ago +18 / -0

Moral of the story? Don’t go to hospitals

20
unaor 20 points ago +21 / -1

Don't trust doctors. 99% of yhem are fucking quacks.

6
Joe_Snow 6 points ago +6 / -0

Agreed. A lot of these fucking creeps are asking people's children if there are guns in the home.

I've been hesitant to trust doctors since LONG before this scamdemic.

3
Ilove45 3 points ago +3 / -0

EVERY. TIME my SO goes to the VA they spend half the visit trying to get him to admit to mental health issues. He's fairly sure they do this on purpose because veteran = gun owner in their minds.

I'm sure that keeps a lot of vets from getting the help they need.
