How about we leave people the fuck alone.

If you don't oppress people, you have no reason to spy on what they may say or fear an armed population.

12
DannyCanusa 12 points ago +12 / -0

Yea, like the word "gay." That used to mean a happy person until 100 or so years ago. Then the faggots took it as their own, supposedly meaning "good as you."

What I'm wondering is how the term "woke" came to mean a lefty waking up. I considered myself to be waking up when I found out about banks, wars, 911, etc. Like 10 years ago I would have disliked most of the people on this board. Then I woke up (the good kind of woke) and realize diversity and other liberal buzzwords are never any good for the country.

The sweeping, gigantic law that had no chance of being crafted by law makers within two weeks after 9/11. Almost as if it had been....well, planned...for that law.

Gadsden 19 points ago +19 / -0

This is precisely why a national divorce won't work, in my opinion.

Let's pretend for a moment that we made two americas, like Silverman said.

Within a year, red white and blue America is thriving, and importantly, it's citizens are happy. The government is small, and the average income is rising quickly.

In dark blue America, inequality is rising, government assistance is rising, addiction is up due to ridiculous narcotics availability and legality, ans the government controls every aspect of life.... And people are just as angry as before.

What do they do?

Beg us to rejoin. We say no.

Try to immigrate... Our immigration policy is strict, so we say no.

Then they demand we merge and threaten war.

This is a comply or else situation, so we war.

Same situation were in now.

22
roflcopt0rz_returns 22 points ago +22 / -0

The difference is, if we do balkanize, it gives us time to group together and get ready for the inevitable war.

5
Gadsden 5 points ago +5 / -0

That is VERY true. And honestly, I'm so tired of all this garbage, I'll take just about anything so long as it preserves our freedoms.

10
SpaceForceMilitia 10 points ago +10 / -0

Agree completely. Communism cant allow any other options to exist cause people will inevitably gravitate to any other option once they lived it.

8
ChuckedBeef 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's because it can't sustain itself so it needs to feed on productive societies. When there is nothing left for it to eat you see total collapse.

We need the hardest of hard lines against communism. It will destroy the world if we let it.

PGP is pretty good. It’s what everyone uses on the deep dark webs

5
Sansa_Belt 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'll second that, Pretty Good Protection (PGP).

3
NimbleNomad9 3 points ago +3 / -0

Can you elaborate some more?

7
Sansa_Belt 7 points ago +7 / -0

Too much to delve-in deeply here, but it's basically a system of encryption where the are symmetric keys and public keys are used to authenticate communication. You can encrypt e-mail, text files, general files, partitions on hard drives, etc.

Sending encrypted private messages and data is the reason that I started using it years ago when I was often using unfamiliar equipment.

Email communication for example:

  • First, PGP generates a random session key using one of two (main) algorithms. This key is a huge number that cannot be guessed, and is only used once.

  • Next, this session key is encrypted. This is done using the public key of the intended recipient of the message. The public key is tied to a particular person’s identity, and anyone can use it to send them a message.

  • The sender sends their encrypted PGP session key to the recipient, and they are able to decrypt it using their private key. Using this session key, the recipient is now able to decrypt the actual message.

It was developed in '90... perhaps '91 as a free (Open Source) system, so gained rapid popularity.

5
peterstrzoked 5 points ago +5 / -0

PGP stands for Pretty Good Privacy. It’s a method of Public/private key encryption: you get an openpgp based client, generate yourself a key pair, give out your public key to whoever you want to communicate with.

Then anyone with your public key can encrypt messages that can only be decrypted with your private key. The messages can be posted on a public forum and as long as strong keys are used, the only one decrypting the messages is the owner of the private key.

There are a few big drawbacks, one it doesn’t provide for forward secrecy; I.e if faggot Wray saves copies of all your encrypted messages and then some day later breaks into your house and steals your computer with your private key on it, then tortures the password to your private key out of you, he can go back and read all the past messages sent to you. (The good news is that he still won’t be able to read the messages you sent to someone else unless he gets their private key too).

Another drawback is that it’s pretty clunky to get used to with a small learning curve, and any client (signal, etc) that is claiming to abstract all of this from the user should be immediately suspect unless it is open source and vetted. Note* I’m not saying signal is or isn’t secure, I haven’t vetted it. Snowden vouches for it, but “he” is probably just an elaborate glowie op at this point.

iMessages are supposedly encrypted, but I’ve never seen the source so it’s entirely possible Apple (they most certainly did) put in a back door that lets them read all messages if they wanted to.

The other big drawback to PGP is the exchange of public keys and an inherent lack of trust. I can post my public key here and tell everyone who wants to talk boog to encrypt messages to me with it, but how do you know I’m who I claim to be, and not a fagboi fed? You can’t, unless you verify my key with me over some other channel, ie IRL

But on the other hand, I can distribute my public key to people I know IRL and be quite confident in the privacy of my communications with them.

3
NimbleNomad9 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thanks for the breakdown. So in essence you could combine this with a blockchain ID for person verifiation and then share keys that way? Not 100% but it would be close?

What people keep suggesting is adding “back doors” to whatever secure services are in use, which is to completely misunderstand encryption. It’s not possible.

4
unclebobinator 4 points ago +4 / -0

Even if it were possible they have no control over software developed outside our borders. Google and Apple would remove them from their stories sure, and American companies would comply or move operations to a place where they can develop their software without adding backdoors,.but it would be still be easily accessible to obtain yet impossible to get rid of encryption software or put backdoors in it.

Encryption software with backdoors isn't even encryption software, at that point it's no different than any other unsecured application.

More bullshit from politicians who don't know shit or more likely do know and just want to make obtaining encryption software difficult and prosecute people who use encrypted software.

3
DickTick 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's exactly my point.... And once it's been applied it's been applied.... This would be about as effective as a country banning a certain website, as if you can't use a VPN or other methods and get right around it with almost no effort....

0
unclebobinator 0 points ago +0 / -0

SHA-256 is still unbreakable with no known back doors. It was created by the NSA

4
FormerGraveheart 4 points ago +4 / -0

1
DX5_ 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sha256 is a one-way hashing function, not really an encryption function.

Annoyedwiththedevoid 1 point ago +1 / -0

1
MehNahMehNah 1 point ago +1 / -0

Makes sense. Since the processor is the engine runs the encryption function within the program, you just need to have a spare key under a rock somewhere.

1
Annoyedwiththedevoid 1 point ago +1 / -0

There are companies that sell computers which have those systems disabled, but at the moment those are cost prohibitive for me, so I’m trying my best to learn how to disable them on my own. If I figure it out, you can be damn sure I’ll tell this website

1
MehNahMehNah 1 point ago +1 / -0

I believe it is buried in the bios on each board. Back in the day you could physically pull the bios, modify it and change the way the computer behaved but now they are soldered on. If access to the CPU is hardwired now it would require some type of interim step.

0
DickTick 0 points ago +1 / -1

Oh it's breakable, but it's gonna take you renting time on a super-computer 24/7 for a few years straight

2
DickTick 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lol yes.... Unless you're using some bullshit proprietary encryption software or some dumb shit, but if you're using modern encryption methods to manually encrypt something, then we are absolutely correct that's a fucking joke and impossible...

Now that's not to say they can't break encryption, but they're just now starting to be able to reliably break 256bit..... But of course people will just continue to create open source encryption tools and stay ahead of computing power, or at least enough that's it's simply unreasonable to try and brute force it....

It reminds me of Beyonce.... You can just imagine her sitting in a meeting with her agents and handlers, slamming her fists on the table and demanding they "take those pictures off the internet immediately!!!"

Sorry... that ship has sailed.

There's no way to ban encryption at this point.

The FBI knew about the 9/11 attackers BEFORE HAND... and did nothing.

Fuck the FBI. They only want to monitor US Citizens communications for Wrong Think.

FCC 97.113 Prohibited transmissions

Encryption is already banned, they can detect it and prosecute you for it

3
decafllort 3 points ago +3 / -0

No, these are from regulations for HAM RADIO. You can't encrypt ham radio. That's all this regulation is about.

1
BatMitzvahAtEpsteins 1 point ago +1 / -0

You can't encrypt ham radio.

the government has the legal precedent to ban encryption

1
24601 1 point ago +2 / -1

That is for ham radio... sorry... you're not correct here. BTW, I have a technician license.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/47/97.113

§ 97.113 Prohibited transmissions. (a) No amateur station shall transmit:

(1) Communications specifically prohibited elsewhere in this part;

Same ole shit. Different talking head.

7
CarpenterRichard 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's actually the same talking head too. Says a lot about this asshole that he was kept on for the tyrannical regime.

Extremism is the Communist word for Christianity

Dictator_Bob 8 points ago +8 / -0

I want access to his personal emails and bank records in exchange. Especially detailed reports on travel and expenditure with a log of every miniscule asset transfer down to expensing a cup of coffee.

I also want his wife's medical history. And any children and especially the STD status of him, and his whole family.

Fair is fair, right?

Or perhaps we keep encryption and work towards seeing this traitor spend the rest of his life in Guantanamo Bay for betraying the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, with liberty, and justice for all.

Trump SHOULD'VE fired this mother fucker, right into the surface of the Sun

7
dahdahdah_dahditdah 7 points ago +7 / -0

Hey, I have a better idea. Let's dismantle and disband the FBI, since it has been acting in a way egregiously antithetical to to the US Constitution.

1
CrackerJack2 1 point ago +1 / -0

Director Wray,
let's start with banning Morse code.
O.K.?

6
Qualityproduct 6 points ago +6 / -0

Ban in real life conversations to counter extremism.

6
shaven_llama 6 points ago +6 / -0

Just for that, I’m encrypting my grocery list from now on.

6
CMDRConanAAnderson 6 points ago +6 / -0

This only became a problem now and not after 20 years of Muslim extremism online?

5
NickAtNight 5 points ago +5 / -0

Lol. Geez.

Pumpingiron_Patriot1 5 points ago +5 / -0

Someone is scared of Bitcoin.

5
papa_newguineapig 5 points ago +5 / -0

LOL Yeeeeeeah. These guys don't understand how the internet works...do they?

4
dankai420 4 points ago +4 / -0

These people are out of control. Complete fascists, control freaks all the way. They want to read everything we write eachother.

4
elmerecido 4 points ago +4 / -0

Ban math, what a great idea. Fuck these authoritarian assclowns. When Barr started talking about going after “warrant-resistant encryption” that’s when I realized what a phony he is.

4
ShrikeDeCil 4 points ago +4 / -0

Dear Hollywood/MPAA: You first.

4
-jjjjjjjjjj- 4 points ago +4 / -0

You know you've fucked up when your chief law enforcement official is taking positions more authoritarian than communist China.

Formerleftist 4 points ago +4 / -0

The tree needs watering

4
acasper 4 points ago +4 / -0

Now would be a good time to get out of walled gardens.

4
yudsfpbc 4 points ago +4 / -0

I agree.

The government should not be allowed to use encryption.

This will end domestic terrorism.

4
ObeyJuanShinobi 4 points ago +4 / -0

Wow i just read something about a far right web host getting “hacked” and the info not being encrypted so i cant help but put two and two together and assume this is related.

3
MyOathNeverEnded 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ban encryption leaving every business and individual more vulnerable to hackers???? This fuck stick is the Director of the FBI???? WTF!!!!!!

3
RedditIsCommunist 3 points ago +3 / -0

Here’s some info on the stuff they want to deprive you of, for those who aren’t up to speed https://restoreprivacy.com/secure-encrypted-messaging-apps/

3
Herpawinski 3 points ago +3 / -0

Where the fuck is all that "domestic extremism" you need to counter?

3
BasedNtruth 3 points ago +3 / -0

Theyre going full Stalin, this is not a test run.

3
ravioli_king 3 points ago +3 / -0

Then we should se a lot of pedo arrests shouldn't we?

3
KrellKrypto 3 points ago +3 / -0

lol ok good luck with that boomer.

Why don’t you just print more money and stop worrying out how reality functions.

The fact anyone ever listens to anyone but the people in the field about technical aspects of that field is beyond stupid

3
GeoG85 3 points ago +3 / -0

Did he seriously say make locks illegal for a safe neighorhood?

But he used tech words so 'stupid people' won't catch to the INSANITY he just sugggested?

Boring!

3
alienjesus 3 points ago +3 / -0

They are so desperate to find the next Timothy McVeigh so they can parade the white terrorist around, saying “Look what we did! We saved countless lives!”… just because the guy said fuck the FBI on Facebook.

3
BumpForTrump 3 points ago +3 / -0

They can get fucked. It's a violation of privacy. These people are utterly untrustworthy

3
JigglesV 3 points ago +3 / -0

In a world where privacy is a crime, you own not even your own body.

3
RussianBot4Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

It’s gone from domestic terrorism to domestic extremism. What will the next goalposts be named?

3
Underpants 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's literally like saying "ban math"

When what they really mean is ban commercially available applications that we cannot have a back door into.

Either way, get absolutely 100 percent fucked.

2
elmerecido 2 points ago +2 / -0

You are 100% correct. If they ban us from using math, I’m sure that anyone using encryption to secure their nefarious comms will also comply, just like criminals hand over their banned firearms. So dumb.

3
Smiley 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ban encryption = ban doing math. LOL

2
JesusPay 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is what Australia said, like we can ban math in Australia.
