Maybe the cops can beat the buildings into submission

59
bubadmt 59 points ago +59 / -0

That only works on buildings of color, everyone knows that.

How many cops does it take to change a lightbulb?

None, they just beat the room for being black.

Truckers and tradies don't even need to protest.

They just need to go on strike until the government backs down on their vax mandates.

Government bureaucrats and white collar vax zealots supporting them don't appreciate how dependent they are on blue collar workers.

When their food and toilet paper doesn't magically appear at the store, a tree downs a powerline, a watermain bursts, the roads are full of pot holes and no one's there to fix it... the over priced apartments they put ridiculous down payments on are sitting there as unfinished concrete frames deteriorating and depreciating in value... maybe then they'll appreciate.

IF truckers and tradies can hold the line and stare down the covid dictators... things could get interesting. Who will blink first?

Big "if".

I've also come to understand from studying all the central bank and stock market fuckery... money is fake. It's printed out of thin air and funneled here and there for political and social engineering purposes.

They're inflating asset prices and especially college and real estate for the purpose of saddling normal people with huge debts. This is not a by-product or simply greed.

People who live paycheck to paycheck and are worried about missing a debt payment and losing their home, and have nothing left over to save for a rainy day... will be terrified of losing their jobs and put up with poor working conditions or nonsensical vax mandates.... much more than people who own their homes outright, are somewhat self-sufficient and have an emergency fund for a rainy day.

Fuck I'm starting to sound like a commie here... but truckies and tradies need to understand their labor has the real value. The fake central bank tokens they get in exchange for the actual boots on the ground labor the perform to keep the system running is actually an illusion designed to illicit their compliance.

If workers of the world or even one country truly united they could hold the government and the banksters hostage. They're just parasitic middlemen at this point. They need us more than we need them.

Yes I'm here in Melbourne and the whole house shook the biggest one I've ever felt we're about 50km from the epicenter location near Mansfield and it was intense about 6.0 on the Richter scale ,lucky it didn't crack any walls , certainly interesting times 👍👍👍

You ever think about how somebody builds a dam?

I mean, where do you start? From the top? from the bottom? From the sides?

How does the cement concrete harden when submerged like that?

And when you build a little bit to stop the river, the pressure increases for the remaining part.

I mean, the whole idea of building a dam (especially that big) is really interesting.

35
Captain_REEcard 35 points ago +35 / -0

Basically the river is diverted away from the site of the dam, then they build the dam, then they allow the river to flow back to it's original course.

It’s still fascinating thinking about how concrete dries while completely submerged in water. That’s chemistry for ya!

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
8
Junkevil 8 points ago +11 / -3

Concrete would likely have to be formed before being placed. That's just my guess though. I've never really thought of it outside of the highwaymen song highwayman. iirc that was the Kris Kristofferson verse.

2
Cliffinati 2 points ago +2 / -0

Where steel and water did collide

6
HangtownBill 6 points ago +6 / -0

Concrete "cures", it doesn't dry. You can mix up some concrete, dump it in a bucket of water and it will set. Chemical reaction that puts off heat. Fun Fact. The only steel in the Hoover Dam would be the pipes they put in. They pumped water thru the pipes to draw off the heat so the concrete wouldn't cure too fast and thus be stronger.

1
Cliffinati 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also why multi pad concrete floors are poured in 2 stages skipping every other section

1
user365927285937 1 point ago +1 / -0

It’s does dry it just takes years for the process to mature. And this can happen fully submerged in water

Captain_REEcard's link is the traditional way it has always been done. The first major project of building a dam "in the wet" was the Olmsted Lock & Damn project on the lower Ohio River between Illinois and Kentucky. This was an engineering masterpiece by the Army Corps of Engineers, but a construction nightmare to achieve. It was drug out as an example of government waste, cost over-runs, and the like, but the majority of issues were environmental, (there was a "fine line" of +/- several feet of water level where construction could happen) the original contractor being WAY in over their heads, increased steel prices, and issues of implementing new untried technology. These things combined to make the project run way over in time and cost. Even with all of that, the cost will be recouped within 5 years from barge fees charged. With all the money literally pissed away overseas over the last few years, replacing two WPA/TVA era faltering damns with this one, on the busiest section of the inland waterway was money well spent. IMHO. Plus, it was done without disruption to river traffic from not having to build huge coffers and shut down the river. When construction got out into the main channel, traffic was brought through the chambers, and never stopped. This was a major consideration for trying this method.

For speed and convenience, the lock chambers were built in the traditional way, coffered and pumped, set in bedrock. Then, the remaining parts were built on land and taken out and set in place like giant Lego pieces. One of the innovations was "tremie concrete" that would cure submerged. The shells, or pieces, were hollow underneath, taken out and submerged, and then filled with this concrete. It displaced the water in a controlled manner.

To kinda bring this back on topic, we are in the New Madrid seismic zone, so, (I'm assuming at least) the Corps took this into consideration in the construction. I do know they are in communication with the different highway departments on retorfit and new bridge construction for river bridges. Agencies in this area have seismic protection as a top priority. At any rate, I can see where this damn would tolerate a reasonable shake. It SHOULD be reasonably forgiving for all but cataclysmic events. Should that happen, there would be a lot bigger fish to fry from St. Louis to Memphis anyhow.

I'll post links to this project for your curiosity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIZAdSAVINc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5bLohaPbCk

They use slave labor in concentration camps to produce their goods. By their deeds are they known.

You surely could make this up. This doesn't even take the slightest stretch of the imagination to make something like this up. There's this place called Hollywood that makes shit like this up all day every day.

2
user365927285937 2 points ago +2 / -0

Uhhh not with such a cosmic twist. Hollywood scriptwriting has sucked since the 90s.

1
Trump2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

Trump2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

I see you've never watched a M. Night Shyamalan film.

Is it a boring unimaginative type film?

Making up a plot like an earthquake hitting while construction workers are suspended or on strike is seriously one of the least imaginative movie scripts I could have come up with in grade school.

-1
user365927285937 -1 points ago +0 / -1

Fuck off faggot

1
Trump2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

KEK, hard to imagine a butthurt faggot like you could have enough brain cells to even reply. Your boyfriend probably wrote it.

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!!!

0
user365927285937 0 points ago +0 / -0

I’m not butthurt I just put you in your fucking place.

Want to argue the premise? You’re too stupid to begin with, but here it is once again: Hollywood writes generic crap such as: Parent brings kid into dangerous situation -> parent tells kid that whatever they do, DONT push the red button -> kid pushes the red button.

That’s 99% of the shit going on in Hollywood. In fact, your out of place hollywood ball licking shows that you arent even American. But you already know that right faggot?

Now back to the premise: Government issues a draconian mandate banning all construction workers —> a few days later the largest earthquake in 200 years hits and there are no workers left to repair the damage.

That’s cosmic irony. I’ve never seen this specific plot played out in a movie ever. Is it BEYOND IMAGINATION? Of course not you stupid motherfucker- OP used a figure of speech. You are either fucking retarded or are in a Chinese prison camp being forced to troll online lest you get a stick shoved up your ass. Either way, fuck off.
