mythical trucker strike that never happens.

i think the pear shaped men are probably worried about overtime.

We've been hearing about trucker strikes since the election scam, never happened.

AndyCuomoIsAMobster 4 points ago +4 / -0

Shit I've heard my dad talking about the trucker strikes that never come around the dinner table when I was in middle school back in 2002 when gas prices started to rise.

Grouping is difficult, there are all kinds of truckers. But in my experience, the vast majority are conservative Trump Voters even in my blue state. That being said you can still find plenty to yell at Trump, sure. That does not define an entire industry at all, in fact the type of people drawn to trucking is diverse enough that it’s actually easy to understand why they are hard to organize.

18
Wankerton 18 points ago +19 / -1

I was a trucker. Still could be considered one. But I stopped years ago. I can tell you truckers are very much conservative. But at the same time I am sure at least 10,000 Haitians will be truckers next year

5
Retardloserimsogay 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yup, still a truckin here. But in construction, overwhelmingly right leaning workforce. Freight guys can really be anyone, I’ve seen all types, and still majority right wing, but definitely a lot of foreigners I’ll label their politics as unknown at most.

vegaspatriot1776 -1 points ago +1 / -2

sad. it's sad that people like you do not believe in free speech.

0
FormerGraveheart 0 points ago +2 / -2

Free speech for us, not trolls like Anaconda. This site has never been about letting shills and leftists run wild.

0
ConfederateFlag 0 points ago +1 / -1

That’s the same logic the leftists use against us btw.

Free speech for them, not us.

0
vegaspatriot1776 0 points ago +1 / -1

sad. it's sad that you are not capable of being exposed to controversial opinions.

1
FormerGraveheart 1 point ago +1 / -0

Are you retarded? T_D was only successful because it ruthlessly cleared away all the shills and leftists, unlike all the other subreddits that got overwhelmed by CTR and failed. This site continued that for a while, but it's now failing to clean up the trash, and it's going to slowly die as a result.

48
DrCowboyPresident 48 points ago +51 / -3

It's a lack of organization, stop talking like these people are all pussies.

The left monopolizes organization and denies it to anyone else. It's their primary operating tactic.

25
deleted 25 points ago +26 / -1
15
CucksForTheDonald 15 points ago +15 / -0

The left believes in top-down control, so it puts in place structures that make it possible.

The right believes in individualism, so it attempts to stop the left erecting structures, and tries to tear down what it can.

The tearing down needs to accelerate.

7
PraiseBeToScience 7 points ago +9 / -2

lol the trucker strike in Australia was as organized as it could be and they still cucked out.

7
GeoG85 7 points ago +7 / -0

Here's some math.

There's a secret war going on.

Since it's secret, people don't care. They're trying to raise families like in peace time.

But they're trying to raise families during war.

History can tell you many times, family and war don't mix.

And that's how you got cucked truckers. "I'ma fight." "But ma family."

And they fail.

What are the Muslims doing?

Sending just men here. No family attachments. Nothing. Hell, even one of the terrorist groups say "Us soldiers don't have families. The risk is avoided."

And everywhere you look, these family people in time of war, get cucked by the Swamp.

And how do they even cuck them? Because no one knows...where the Swamp's family is. To threaten them back~

4
Cyer6 4 points ago +4 / -0

Exactly. It was planned out and organized (supposedly) well in advance to give ALL the truckers the gameplan and the option to get involved. A few dozen blocked up a freeway in one direction and that's about it as I recall. Complete fail.

4
PraiseBeToScience 4 points ago +4 / -0

Worse - that wasn't even the trucker strike. It was a backup on a truck bypass because some motorcyclist got himself run over on it. That's why they were all lined up on the shoulder, and not blocking traffic. It was over by the end of the day.

3
SnowflakeJuice 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's a lot easier to organize when that is what they get paid to do. All these people harrassing Sinema are paid trolls.

They have Organizations with deep pockets funded by Soros, the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation with army's of people on the payroll.

Add to that the useful college idiots, ANTIFA, BLM etc. And they have massive numbers of people at their back and call to organize at a moment's notice.

1
Recken 1 point ago +1 / -0

agreed. My brother is a trucker and he hears nothing about strikes. also he says, probably, more than half the truckers out there don't use CBs anymore.

3

They need to go block Washinton DC in and stall that place, rather than hurt the regular citizens with no food in the stores. Imagine like 50,000 blocking the DC highways.

21
clownworld30330 21 points ago +23 / -2

Came in for this. Pilots, yeah, happening. Truckers? We've been holding our breath for them.

22
Traiya 22 points ago +24 / -2

Pilots did not strike until the mandate was at their doorstep. The same as every industry that has left their jobs.

The same as the trucker strike in Australia.

It will be the same here. American Truck drivers are not organized that way. You will not see a trucker strike until the mandate looms over that industry.

8
Mtnlion667 8 points ago +9 / -1

Saved my from writing the exact sane, thank you.

9
Traiya 9 points ago +9 / -0

I have been trying to get this point across since the election every time I see people drooling over the thought of a driver strike.

People just keep pushing it, and then they blame the truck drivers for not acting out their fantasy.

I get it, it is a very alluring thought to not be responsible for putting your own life at risk. It is so much easier to expect someone else to do it for them.

But it is dangerous, because when people just expect someone else to save them, they will have no reason to join the fight themselves.

The reality is that we are not organized. Any "OMG trucker strike! ZOMG!!" Info I hear comes from reading p.w, not from being a truck driver.

Any small strikes that people may have organized in the past are just a bunch of people taking the day off. Other drivers just cover the loads.

It would likely take something like the mandate hitting the industry for us to organically organize into a strike.

On the plus side, a good 70 to 80% of the drivers that I have talked to said that they would quit before taking the shot.... conservatively I would say 40 to 50% would actually act on it.

That is when you will see the supply chain collapse.

7
Mtnlion667 7 points ago +7 / -0

Agree completely. It will take the mandate to observably affect every industry.

The average person isn't affected by military in their day to day life so enlisted people losing all they've earned by refusing the vax won't be evident and certainly won't be televized.

They'll replace the hospital workers w national guard to hide the effects. And sadly, someone (doctors) w +12yrs of education and a decade into their career w zero options of private industry employment is more likely to comply. Pilots can take pay cuts and still instruct, fly charter, AG work, even bush if they have to.

If it's mandated for truckers, oil field, state and county maintenance, etc... There will be major disruptions and the country will be forced to see that the claimed vax rates are bullshit, and the suffering will cause an uprise.

I do believe they are delaying mandating more essential positions because they want the media fed normies to believe their inflated vax numbers enough to sway the weak to comply as much as possible before reality slaps us all in the face.

6
Mothertrumprr 6 points ago +6 / -0

You might see a teamsters strike early. But as for your average Joe goodbuddy. It'll take a looming mandate before it happens.

1
Junionthepipeline 1 point ago +2 / -1

Not even then remember most truck drivers are foriginers now.

4
Mothertrumprr 4 points ago +4 / -0

Maybe in your cities but not the country boys.

4
PraiseBeToScience 4 points ago +4 / -0

The truckers in Australia didn't even do anything. There was a traffic jam at one truck bypass for one afternoon and that was the only "evidence" it ever happened. But you could pull up live traffic cameras and see with your own eyes that it was all a lie.

2
clownworld30330 2 points ago +2 / -0

Tyson is requiring vaccines for truckers to drive onto their property. it's already happening.

2
Traiya 2 points ago +2 / -0

Perhaps some of them do, but unless they changed things again in the last couple days, it is not true of all of them.

They may require it of their own employees, but other trucking companies can still pick up and deliver to Tysons without the vax... at least the one that my company pulls from works that way.

12
BillionsAndBillions 12 points ago +13 / -1

More than half the truckers I see now are foreigners. Many can't speak any English, or read road signs. It's a miracle anything gets delivered.

The more effective strikes are going to be the ones that hit the entertainment industries. The industries that everyone was so eager to get vaccinated so they can go on their yearly vacation. Interruption of Netflix shows would hit pretty hard too.

We don’t need to starve families.

Edit: Autocorrect had strokes instead of strikes. Though given the topic 😂

9
ravioli_king 9 points ago +9 / -0

Release the driverless semmis! What's that? Subsidies wore off for them and they cost a mint?

11
Roadpower 11 points ago +11 / -0

Thirty+ year pro here. The hype about driverless semi's is just that, hype. They have a very limited use case, mostly in the south west. They put them on long straight roads that have little interactions. Also the hype totally ignores the fact that many drivers do more than just drive.

The only way that drivers are going to get replaced is if you have actual autonomous robots. It could also be done with large fleets that run from terminal to terminal only but then you have to have people to set up and break down the trailer sets. There are other issues as well to contend with.

Bottom line is that I don't see the big scary AI takeover of trucks happening in a way that the hypesters think it will. It can happen but it is decades off, maybe even a hundred years off.

7
PraiseBeToScience 7 points ago +7 / -0

One thing the driverless semis don't account for is liability and security. Having a driver puts a name responsible for the load.

Me and the Boys driving alongside a self-driving semi leaning out the window to jack into it and hack it into driving down a remote area and looting an Amazon truck sounds like a lot of fun though.

4
MustangManny 4 points ago +4 / -0

"It could also be done with large fleets that run from terminal to terminal only but then you have to have people to set up and break down the trailer sets"

Did you just describe a railroad?

1
CrankHandler1991 1 point ago +2 / -1

The biggest issues I see with "Driverless" trucks becoming a thing anytime soon, is that the "automated safety features" that are being implemented now are going to get people killed.

"Oh, there's a metal overpass on this hill you're driving down. Definitely gonna collide with that. Let's slam the brakes!" Dumb ass bullshit sensors. Let's see how well that works when there's ice or fresh rain on a busy highway.

That, and GPS is still absolute dog water and half the time will tell me to go down a road where I'd have to take out a dozen vehicles and a traffic light to get to my destination. Or tell me that I've arrived when I'm still 2 blocks away from where I need to be, and I've got an $800 unit. Wonder how well people would respond to a few dozen trucks just stopping in the middle of the street because they think they're where they need to be.

Then there's the issue of the cost it would take to equip the millions of trailers on the road with backing sensors...

Yeah, its all a pipe dream. Drivers aren't going anywhere in our lifetime.

8
EllemenoP 8 points ago +8 / -0

They actually did this in Oz land. So when it's going to get going here? I know, let's just cut off our corrupt officials, how 'bout that. No more senility meds for resident Joe or Gin for Nance.

6
Pelosi_Halitosis 6 points ago +6 / -0

I only know one NA truckee atm, gas hauler. He's redpilled af. However, he will be the first one to break a line as soon as he isn't being paid. I know, not popular, but his old lady is also a teacher. So there's that part of the equation.

6
gimmeabreak 6 points ago +6 / -0

Truckers are a different beast than airline pilots. With airline pilots you know that they all work for a large company with over 100 employees, and their protesting their employer will easily impact thousands and thousands of people because one plane can hold hundreds of passengers. Truckers on the other hand are a giant mix of people who work for small companies, people who work for large companies, people who are sole proprietors and own their own truck, people who are sole proprietors but lease their truck from the companies they contract for, etc. It's a lot more difficult to coordinate all of the truckers than it is to coordinate all of the airline pilots. To stop the most goods and services it would be good to have the truckers, railroad staff and freight plan pilots all join in.

5
commies4jail2021 5 points ago +5 / -0

truckers are much more decentralized than airlines. can't rely on them to get organized.

5
HunterSthompson 5 points ago +6 / -1

As a truck driver and the owner of my own trucking company I’m going to be straight up with you. The moment American truck drivers go on strike Mexican and Canadian trucks will flood over the borders and put us out of business overnight and those regulations that they will bend to allow them to do it will never be reinforced. Anyone who thinks American truckers can just pick up and quit and not be replaced overnight is absolutely fucking high.

They have been pushing for Mexican trucks to come into the US since George was in office back in the early 2000s. Give them the excuse and they will take the proverbial mile.

3
CrankHandler1991 3 points ago +3 / -0

This. And of course wages and safety standards will drop to accommodate them.

1
hazelknut 1 point ago +1 / -0

it's a good thing the pilots and airline workers don't have any reasons to not make a stand, huh.

2
Demokraut_No_More 2 points ago +2 / -0

I just talked to a trucker today. He said they're beyond PISSED. They ARE talking about parking all the rigs.

2
CrankHandler1991 2 points ago +2 / -0

It won't happen until the mega companies start to push the mandate. Just like it didn't happen with nurses and pilots. Not until they're the ones getting targeted. Until then, its just business as usual.

2
Rubicante 2 points ago +2 / -0

Muh "interruption of the supply chain is domestic terrorism"

2
Roadpower 2 points ago +3 / -1

No offense but the young lady doesn't know what she is talking about. It is possible that truckers will refuse to drive but it is going to be rather difficult to get to that point without a serious civil breakdown occurring. And at that point the military will be mobilized to protect trucking which will take priority over all other traffic.

A lot of passenger car operators are clueless about who is going to get prioritized in a legitimate emergency.

2
dagoat4l 2 points ago +2 / -0

If they really going to do it nows the time. They are not doing it. Because with a major air line having all these issues right now is the perfect time to get eyes on your cause. If they keep up about bad weather then all pure bloods and PB supporters across the nation should call in sick. This isn't a one person or one industry movement. We all need to get involved however we can.

1
2AMONKEY 1 point ago +1 / -0

Good luck with that. Half of them don't even speak English or have a clue about wtf is happening. Just organizing that strike would be a feat in itself.

1
KungPaoMcChicken 1 point ago +1 / -0

Most truck drivers are self employed so no vaccine mandate.

1
CrankHandler1991 1 point ago +1 / -0

Most drivers work for massive trucking companies like Swift/Knight, Werner, or Schneider.

Thing is the mandates haven't affected the trucking industry yet.

1
KungPaoMcChicken 1 point ago +1 / -0

They might drive the trucks, but I am not sure if they are employees or contractors. Most truckies want to own their shit. You end up with a lot more money that way.

1
CrankHandler1991 1 point ago +1 / -0

They're mostly employees.

Most truckers do want to own their truck, but most can't. Its a big price tag and a long process to get there. Not just the price of the truck and trailer, but the insurance, getting all of the relevant permits, getting the authority registered, finding a load broker, establishing an LLC or Corp.

Owner Operators can make a lot more money if they run a successful business, but a lot of them don't and end up living check to check in worse condition than company drivers who make a decent wage plus benefits. Or they suffer a major breakdown (transmission, turbo, drive train) which they can't cover and their entire business sinks because of it. A lot of guys just don't want that risk or the headache of it all.

Speaking as a company driver (4 years) who is about to pull the trigger in buying my own truck and starting my own gig.

Edit: there's also lease operators who lease a truck from a company and work the payments off with them. They often have more autonomy with the truck and their schedule, but they don't own their equipment until they've paid for 2-4 years. Theres a stigma about going this route because a lot of drivers get royally screwed. Given crap loads that prevent them from being able to pay, getting "let go" prior to the end of the lease which allows the company to retain ownership, and a slew of other loopholes in the contracts which end up with the driver out on their ass with nothing to show for it.

1
KungPaoMcChicken 1 point ago +1 / -0

Understood. Its an area of work that you really need to go in strong, not in debt.

Like I knew a guy from the bush who owned a house in a rural area and he bought his first truck using that equity....

I also knew a guy who didn't even have a licence to drive a truck and picked one up at an auction. Thing sat in a yard until the fuel line shat itself everywhere. He was a moron.

1
Cicero1992 1 point ago +1 / -0

My two cents from where I work....

We use 2 national shipping lines and 3 regional...

They are ALL having difficulty making their on time deliveries...especially the two national lines.

They are scraping for drivers to make these cross country trips, and it's even more difficult to get HAZMAT drivers.

Our national trucking system is EXTREMELY STRESSED right now, I feel it won't take much to put our trucking system into the same situation that the airlines are starting to get into now.

-1
Roadpower -1 points ago +1 / -2

I had my HAZMAT years ago. I let it expire because it doesn't produce a profit or even pay for itself.

Already happening here.

Grocery store has been severely understocked for weeks (looks like 1/3 to 1/2 of the store is empty), overheard an employee say that they've been experiencing shortages.

I doubt it's some kind of coordinated effort, but I don't think it needs to be.
