No reason to go back to a shitty business like that. Leave them and never go back no matter how much they grovel.

Exactly. Every restaurant is hiring now. Find some restaurant not run by a complete fascist dictator and apply there. If you have experience, you are practically guaranteed a job

Cesare_Borgia 77 points ago +78 / -1

I think the only requirement most restaurants have for the dish washer position is a pulse.

They'd probably prefer you be sober but from what I've seen that's not a strict requirement!

32
thisisatestof2 32 points ago +32 / -0

True. However, if they’re trying to hire for cooks, Hostess, waiters, etc. I would think hiring someone with restaurant experience at the airport would be beneficial. As a restaurant owner, you want employees can work fast and efficient To turn tables as fast and efficiently as possible.

Airport dining has got to be one of the most time sensitive operations as you know people are on a very specific schedule waiting for connecting flights, etc. And efficiency and good service is a must for every customer.

I actually wish there was a jobs board on this site. Job hunting and having to worry that my boss is gonna be some cracked out Biden simp is pretty daunting. Already had to cancel several interviews because I found out the company had vaccine mandates.

I suppose GAB is at least well known, but I've wondered how many of these job board things are compromised to make lists of people to go after.

Any DNC fascist can sign up for GAB and go write down all the companies hiring there and then use the gov to attack them/audit them/try to shut them down.

They'll find ways to target us regardless. Still best to get our own parallel economy up and running.

Heh. Trump doesn't seem to be doing anything to help create a parallel economy.

We'll do it with or without Trump.

Yeah, you're working for a POS. But they are paying the tax and most other FF jobs involves working for a POS.

LOVE THIS! - as a former airport concession holder in a major airport, I know there's no fucking way to replace your staff en masse, and stay open or even stay in business if you have to close for any length of time to get new hires through security screening, trained up for the job etc.

Airport rents are among the highest rate per sqft in the world - my monthly rent for specialty retail space was $125/sqft per month - $22,500/mo for 180sqft. I had to do $3k sales per day just to break even - imagine what a 2-3 week shutdown would do, when the rent is still due whether you are open or not..

And to think, at the time the Denver Airport offered me a space, and I almost went for it... Glad to be out of that business now.

16
viVbiz-bufmu1-qodmem 16 points ago +16 / -0

I’ve always wondered about that. How many of those places break even vs. the stores just acting as an advertisement?

13
bigntazt 13 points ago +13 / -0

Work in airport concessions as well at a major airport. A lot of your profit is going to depend on what contract you have established with the airport. Example: We have multiple stores with Minimum Annual Guaranteed rent contracts. Where we pay a fixed amount of rent based upon a percentage of sales reported to the airport during the previous year. This can both be good and bad, good as in we have a slow year and then the following year high sales we are still charged rent according to the low sales of previous year. But as you can imagine what happens when you have record breaking sales in 2019 and in 2020 the government decides to close your store with out warning? I was 5/120 people that got to stay on company payroll during this time.

Here in Colorado, you can't even find help if you're in the food service industry. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE has a help wanted sign out right now. All the food service people that left during the lockdowns/slashed hours....they never came back. A lot of places closing around here.

23
Vizsla 23 points ago +23 / -0

Listen up people. If you are faced with this ultimatum and the majority of your coworkers are with you and walk out don't come back free of charge. If they beg for you to come back or reverse the mandate, hold out for more money. Make them pay for doing this. Sure, we will come back but you have to pay us more in order to get us back. They fucked up, make them pay for doing so.

12
mulejuicemcquaid 12 points ago +13 / -1

Exactly. Be sure to talk to your coworkers and make an informal union so everyone is on the same page.

Unions get a bad rap from states where they are mandated and suck wages off workers, slow down projects, and make things miserable. But collective bargaining is a natural part of capitalism that keeps workers from being exploited by employers. And the opposite of that is the ability for the business to say, "You're being unreasonable" and hire new staff. Keeps things healthy on both sides.

2
texas4ever 2 points ago +2 / -0

Or come back, find another job and quit in another 2-3 weeks when they relax again.

13
Tcrlaf1 13 points ago +13 / -0

Too late, plenty of other jobs at that level.

13
A_Deplorable_Basket 13 points ago +13 / -0

That’s when you say “Fuck you,” refuse to go back, and get a job at one of the thousands of other places hiring now. If a company like this is willing to trample on your rights once, they’ll do it again as soon as it’s expedient.

Working in an eatery takes no special skill's past turning on a burner, or pushing a button to start the dishwasher. My point, worker's in this line are a dime a dozen, as the abundance of needed workers, nation wide for kitchen helpers, or servers, is off the charts.

These people should have looked at the whole picture, and realize, if he thinks like that, do you really want to work for someone who attempted to rule authority prohibition over your health?

I wonder what really happened here?

This is a small, local case. I bet if someone dug around they could find out if the owner accepted a bribe thinking he could easily force his employees to get the vaccine and pocket the cash.

Another way of looking at it is that he tried to sell his employees into slavery. Because 1 stick leads to a booster stick every 3-6 months for life.

And either We The People get to pay whatever big-pharma asks or we finally refuse and the poor stuckee has to pay - bring the cost of insulin to mind here.

1
DonJr2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

What really happened is someone made up something on twitter and someone here posted it without any data at all.

We don't do proof here. Just images with words over top of a solid color background. Upvote and comment how you will never give in to commies!

Pretty sad. High energy site. Useless for actually organizing anything or getting factual data.

Ask for a raise and a 5 year contract or he will fire you as soon as he can.

1
hootersmcboobies 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't think it's the best policy to tell your employer .. anything about your medical history.

"You have proof of vax?"

"My medical history is private."

"So.. have you got the vax?"

"Maybe. Maybe not. It's none of your business."

"You're fired."

Make them fire you, but make sure they have no evidence if you have or have not gotten forced medication. The reason you were terminated is not medication refusal, it's refusal to divulge private medical information.

If you were one of the peeps that got duped and took the vax, this is how you stand with your buddies. You choose to take it? Fine. That's your personal decision. Your employer has no right to ask you, any more than they can ask you about your anti-depressant usage.
