Fed needs to overrule CA law then, because this affects so many other states. imagine having your goods and services trapped behind some CA bureaucracy and going out of business because of it.

ALL STATES SHOULD HAVE A PERMANENT EASEMENT TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM CALIFORNIA PORTS FOR THE PICKUP AND DELIVERY OF SHIPPING GOODS. Same goes for any other Port state.

The 10th Amendment says powers not Constitutionally granted to the Federal Government belong to States or the People.

The enumerated constitutional powers that only the federal government has include declaring war on other nations, printing money, establishing and supporting military forces such as the Army and Navy, regulating international and interstate trade, and running and funding the postal system.

All of these powers are either directly listed in the Constitution or have been interpreted as constitutional by the Supreme Court.

So it is possible for the Fed to step in and force CA to stop it's bullshit since it IS effecting interstate trade.

But with Pelosi's Nephew as CA Gov don't hold your breath.

The interstate commerce clause of our constitution was designed specifically for this type of problem.

States can not legislate inter-state trade roadblocks. The federal government can override state laws that interfere with or prohibit inter-state trade.

This wouldn't be a problem at all if america hadn't been buying china's cheap shit for decades now.

Leave it to dumbass despotic oligarchs to demonstrate what a fucking stupid thing they're doing at is happens in real time. Of course, people have been saying what a stupid thing this is for decades too.

If america had been busy manufacturing and producing its own stuff like it used to, we'd be self sufficient and all our shit would already fucking be here instead of floating out on the fucking ocean.

And there'd be millions of manufacturing jobs.

And there's be millions of dollars in domestic exports.

And wages would be through the fucking roof.

So we're seeing that this isn't just an economic issue. It's a national security one as well.

This wouldn't be happening if americans weren't all a load of cheap lazy fuckheads who'd rather have cheap crap supplied to us from an enemy nation state instead of making it ourselves.

2

Exactly. And bringing the far leftist ideology and activism to turn that state into a progressive, blue Democrat hell hole -just like California. So goes the nation...

61
bill_in_texas 61 points ago +61 / -0

Exactly. The federal trucking regulations are horrific to start with, and Trump did a little, but very little. to relax them. But here's what's new and different now.....when there were emergencies, like national disasters, rules like how long drivers could drive, etc. were waived. In other words, the government's position was, and should be, "just send everything you've fucking got!"

If trucks are the issue, sane, non communist managers would force California to stand down and allow any swinging dick with a truck to get in there and get shit moving. But that's not where we are now.

When Texas was going through our Coldpocalypse in February, with massive blackouts, Texas begged the Biden junta to waive pollution rules for the duration. In other words, it's a Goddamned emergency.....fire up everything we've got....mothballed plants, run others full tilt, damn the pollution, whatever. And that request was slow walked, hem hawed and really just stalled, until it no longer mattered. The weather warmed, things came back on line, and the crisis had passed.

The irony being this is the exact type of collectivist death spiral F.A. Hayek warned us about:

  1. Government meddles by establishing an economic policy
  2. Economic policy creates market problems
  3. Government responds by granting itself powers to further meddle in economy policy

The cycle repeats until the central authority has all political and economic power; i.e. a totalitarian state.

It is at this time the megalomanic typically takes over and the "benevolent" collectivist government becomes a tyranny with absolute power -- said another way, "not real communism"

It's just like our insane coal regulations that ultimately lead to it being sold and shipped to China on the biggest fossil fuel burning ships on the planet, all to be burned in a 3rd world shithole with no environmental standards.

It's more efficient to not have any regulation at all.

16
Tcrlaf1 16 points ago +16 / -0

China is buying up all of the coal they can get right now. They know that when they attack Taiwan, they will be embargoed, and that the sea lanes are the most vulnerable part of the Chinese economy.

15
day221 15 points ago +15 / -0

I doubt they would even be embargoed at this point. Will probably even host the next olympics.

11
slangin_paint 11 points ago +11 / -0

Sadly i think you are correct. Where was the international pushback over hongkong? China's economy is export based. Are they really ready to flip and do a 180 overnight by knowingly turning all the world's governments against them? Could they switch to a hardcore isolationist nation? That doesn't sound like a big bold risk that china would take. So if they plan to take Taiwan, they must have no doubt that the world would go along with it.

7
Whimpy13 7 points ago +7 / -0

10
Aquamine-Amarine 10 points ago +10 / -0

If we got rid of shitty regulations and only kept the ones that actually made sense, I bet we'd be left with a dozen or so instead of the hundreds of bullshit ones.

7
Lad_status_wewd 7 points ago +7 / -0

"Things that make sense" or "California".

3
current_horror 3 points ago +3 / -0

I never understood why regulations didn't have term limits. If every regulation is permanent, then the number of regulations will always grow towards infinity. That's not sustainable government.

1

14
IAbsolutelyDare 14 points ago +14 / -0

they aren't allowed inside because of 'too many carbon emissions' so they are only let in in limited numbers, a few at a time...

7
QLARP 7 points ago +10 / -3

Are you sure that's true anaconda?

The state emission standards say you can't have a truck older then 2011.

They don't say anything about how many trucks can be allowed in the port.

4
ShrikeDeCil 4 points ago +4 / -0

There's the "regulations on trucks", but there's also the "regulation on ports/warehouses/whatever"

Or perhaps it's 'regulations on distribution companies', who knows, exactly.

There's a zillion different angles.

2
QLARP 2 points ago +4 / -2

I mean a state regulation you can only have a 80 trucks in a port at a time?

Sounds made up, but I'll take your word for it.

6

Nah, man. You can totally trust anaconda. He's a real straight shooter

2
Junionthepipeline 2 points ago +2 / -0

3
ShrikeDeCil 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'd be betting it's more along the lines of "Can emit no more than XX tons of carbon dioxide per day(week? year?)" Probably on a per foot basis, if it's not specific to the port(s).

In their press for crazy-high emissions standards towards all-electric.

You can't honestly look for sanity in there - they're perfectly happy insisting on reality-bending ideals. "There's no problem if you're using electric trucks!!!" ... "But there's none on the market yet in high volume..."

23
Pepekun 23 points ago +23 / -0

I'm with you but unfortunately its more likely to be the opposite where the little guys get screwed. Amazon is very politically connected and has been aware of this coming for a long time and are ready to use this to make themselves even more of a behemoth at the further expense of smaller brick and mortar operations.

Sundance over at theconservativetreehouse has a good post from a couple days ago about the nature of this current issue with california.

9
Logan051361 9 points ago +9 / -0

Yes, Walmart and Amazon have their Ships going to East Cost ports which take a little longer because they now have to go thru the panama Canal and get to the East cost Ports. But they had that covered. Prices have gone up on Everything to make up the difference. But, with that, Others that did not set that up ahead of time and going to be empty.

8
ohiopede 8 points ago +8 / -0

Little guy here! Hefty portion of my product is made in America. Still getting screwed! The distribution companies aren't making the best choices. Can't speak to other industries, but mine is challenging.

8
BringTheCat789 8 points ago +8 / -0

LOL. This will only affect small businesses. If anything, it will benefit the big boys.

They have inside and advanced knowledge of shit like this and can prepare for it. They have the capital to prepare for it.

All of the money they spent chartering their own vessels to move to smaller ports, or putting freight on planes to fly them inland, will be more than recouped by the reduction of competition who do not have the money to take these actions, and are just at the mercy of these damn boats.

2

This was the threat of globalization that we've been screaming about for ages.

You can't become reliant on other countries just because it makes you feel good inside. You either have control of your situation or you don't. Oil is a perfect example of this since Trump made us energy independent. Biden immediately stopped that, now oil is spiraling out of control in price, while Putin makes bank off America's desperate need for energy

We're strengthening our enemies while drastically weakening our own god damn country. AMERICA FIRST. It's that simple. It's not racist to want your country to be able to operate without the need of not just it's allies but it's enemies.

Truckers are waiting for over 8 hours to pick up their freight because the yards are swamped with containers. As each hour passes, more containers are offloaded into the port that can no longer deal with the scale of the problem. Each individual container is now buried in an avalanche of more containers, and that is making the limited compliant trucking resources even more problematic….. “containergeddon“.

this would never ever happen under trump. Jesus what a joke of a presidency and governorship

Have you ever heard of the commerce clause in the constitution? It gives the federal government explicit authority over anything that affects interstate and/or international commerce.

This clause has been absolutely abused to essentially give the federal government all the authority they could ever want, and this stolen authority has somehow held up in federal courts. For example: the justification for the federal prohibition of marijuana is based on this clause. That is: they argue that me growing a plant in my house falls under federal jurisdiction because I could sell it across state lines. This is just one of many, many ridiculous oversteps of authority with their loose basis in this clause of the constitution. The highly liberal interpretation of this clause has essentially rendered the 10th and 9th amendments meaningless.

With that said, the federal government stepping in to resolve this issue that's causing a very real disruption in both interstate and international commerce is the exact kind of thing that the commerce clause was written for. It would surely stand in the courts to not be a violation of state rights.

0
QLARP 0 points ago +2 / -2

Look ill be straight with you, you seem like a smart guy.

This backlog would be happening regardless of who is president.

The only real difference is when Biden is president the media ignores the supply chain stuff.

And if Trump was president it would be 24/7 news and blaming him.

If you want to pretend Trump would fix a decades long growing problem of uniparty gutting this country and sending factories to China then you can. Whatever helps you sleep pede.

7
DiscoverAFire 7 points ago +7 / -0

I work in the manufacturing industry. In 2016 we were ~70% made-in-china. Because of Trump, that changed to ~50% by mid 2019.

So yes, Trump was literally fixing the decade long problem where all our factories were in China. And he would do something similarly drastic here, piss off a lot of people, and fix California's shipping problem.

3
QLARP 3 points ago +3 / -0

I disagree I think the narrative of the supply chain crisis would be called fake news and solve itself in a few months.

Proving us correct for the 1000th time.

4
BringTheCat789 4 points ago +4 / -0

I disagree. At the very least, there would be something attempted to correct the situation.

Hell, if the media was on TV blaming Trump 24/7, the problem would be highlighted and likely fixed, if not by him, by someone else trying to take credit.

I don't think Trump would fix the uniparty or sending factories to China, but I think he would fix the problem of California holding the rest of the country hostage with their climate regulations.

0
QLARP 0 points ago +1 / -1

But the bias engine goes both ways. If Trump was president we would be saying the supply chain issue is fake news by the media and it will clear itself up in a few months.

AND we would be right!

Those 70 ships will be clear by mid November.

1
HeavyMetalPatriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not an EO - emergency declaration - aka akin to War Powers. Plenty of state laws get paused - not changed - during emergencies.

47
Brickapede2 47 points ago +47 / -0

This is one of the few things the Commerce Clause was actually intended to address: a state fucking up interstate and international commerce by enacting its own regulations. California’s CARB regs are fucking this all up; the EPA could force them onto the national standard.

14
Ed_Ward 14 points ago +14 / -0

Of course the one time the feds SHOULD interfere in a state's actions, they don't because they're all friends and the Feds are more concerned with getting people to take a medication they don't need.

11
unclebobinator 11 points ago +11 / -0

Feds are more concerned with destroying this nation. Covid is just the likely manufactured crisis they don't intend to waste

2
Brickapede2 2 points ago +2 / -0

The market may be able to compensate, but too many rapid shocks can cause problems, which may be the point.

Moreover, while the market maybe able to compensate, these California rules are adding needless costs to the system.

If anything, Biden is being set up as the fall guy for the screw-ups and crises they are manufacturing. That's the only reason they let an old white guy get elected. Then they will present the "solution" to how everything went to shit after Trump when Kamala Harris becomes president. You can see the "colored women are the future, white men are a relic of the past" narrative already being injected in almost every movie and series that is being pumped out nowadays (foundation is a good example, but almost everything is to some degree), it's all over the western world (US, Canada, Europe, Australia etc) and it's in commercials, kids books, science, literature, any kind of media. They always do this to prepare the population for what is coming, which makes it easy to predict. So yes the manufactured crises are about to get a lot worse.

The solution is probably going to be some kind of global communism that they will implement through vaccination passports and social credit scores. Future vaccines will likely be used to decrease fertility significantly. And property rights will be taken away from the people and rented out to them, and all money will be digitalized so dissenters can be cut off immediately, as dictated by the Great Reset.

The story makes it very clear it's on purpose. It's a new California law that created this. It could be fixed by lifting, even if just temporarily

Until they lift the law, everything they do is a stunt to distract they're trying to cripple this nation. Wait not trying, they're doing it and actively succeeding.

Don't forget to get your government mandated jab while you're at it. Join the JABroni club you mindless sheep

Is food going to be a shortage because of foreign ships backup?

9
Formerlurker92 9 points ago +9 / -0

Because if they're willing to manufacture one crisis they will definitely manufacture another. And probably in the middle of winter so you can't grow your way out of it

our country has embraced JIT (just in time) manufacturing for several years. President Trump understood this, and we had a record economy...in a good way. fmr vp biden has no clue, nor does pete "paternity leave" buttigieg, and we have a record economy...not in a good way

6
Ro-Bear_Berbil 6 points ago +6 / -0

For the curious... good video that attempts to explain the shortage situation, and they cover JIT manufacturing at about the half way point.

4
acidburn 4 points ago +4 / -0

that is a good video. thanks for the link!

it's a bit of an oversimplification, and doesn't fully credit those responsible, but that can't happen in 20 min anyway

2
Ro-Bear_Berbil 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah it's probably only a few pieces of the puzzle, but seems like a decent summary of what got the ball rolling anyways. Not to mention Biden and others have probably made things way worse since that video was put together in June.

1
acidburn 1 point ago +1 / -0

wow...i didn't notice the June part. so, basically, everyone knew this except the people that are supposed to know :P

"Ah, great that means my BUILD BACK BETTER agenda is working!" - Biden, probably

8
Ez_mac 8 points ago +8 / -0

Biden doesn’t have a clue what he ate for breakfast. It’s clear his cabal is scrambling and totally incompetent. I don’t believe this idea they are deliberately doing this. This is exactly what happens when you don’t have strong leadership.

3
DiscoverAFire 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think both. I think they have a plan, it involves fucking us over similar to this, and I think that they are too incompetent to actually make their plan work and we now have a shit-tsunami as the shitquakes of malice and shitticane of incompetence enter a positive feedback shitloop.

Are the normies ever going to think to themselves, “Jeepers. Every single thing this potato does to ‘help’ only makes things exponentially worse. I wonder if that can’t be by chance?”

You know? I seriously fear for the intelligence quotient of this country. 🥺😡

6
JonAz 6 points ago +6 / -0

When I used to do western Az border, it was a lot quicker and shorter distance to go from lake havasu city to bullhead by taking the 40 west to the 95 north rather than going through oatman. Only issue with that is you have to cross the border and go a couple miles inland to go to needles. The guy that was always at the checkpoint knew my route and that I was only crossing the border to save time, not to go into California and deliver. One night some lady was at the checkpoint and my truck wasn’t commie compliant and she almost made a big deal about it 😬

5
thisisatestof2 5 points ago +5 / -0

In the longer the truckers sit and wait, the more hours they waste on the clock waiting to get loaded which means the less they can drive each day and it takes longer to transport to its next stop in the United States.

Basically, California is the problem along with Joe Biden..

5
Polarix 5 points ago +5 / -0

No truck driver to transport. They will not go to Vax Mandate LA county. Love those guys

So fucking stupid. This is all sideshow shit to keep us from election fraud BS. We can blame Biden, but we need to not forget about the other 500 politicians who are destroying this country. I love Brandon and FJB chants, but can we get one for McConnell and pelosi as well? Maybe a brother fucker chant for ol towlie in Minnesota?

C'mon man. If the shipping companies really want to get things sped up all they have to do is buy a few dozen of Hunter's paintings.

4
goat_nebula 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is one of the very rare instances the Federal Government was meant to intervene. When one state's stupid laws interfere too greatly with interstate commerce, the state's originally agreed that no one state should be able to unfairly tax or burden the commerce of others with transportation taxes, laws, regulations and the like. CA's emissions rules and restrictions on trucks are interfering with shipments bound for other states that have to port/originate in CA.

They're fucking the entire rest of the country with their bullshit.

4
least_counties_ever 4 points ago +4 / -0

It's all intentional. The port of Oakland is empty and ready for business.

4
yakkayakka 4 points ago +4 / -0

Just remember, this is not incompetence. When you look at it through the lens of hating America and controlled societal collapse leading to government dependency, it makes way more sense.

4
PRMan99 4 points ago +4 / -0

'We are not the postal service or UPS or FedEx. We cannot guarantee. What we can do is use every lever at the federal government's disposal to reduce delays, to ensure that we are addressing bottlenecks in the system, including ports and the need for them to be open longer hours.'

And yet all of us have no doubt that this wouldn't happen under Trump.

Go through Panama, travel to Florida to offset at least 15%, and then build miniature ports along the entire gulf of Mexico so that at least 200 or so ports can handle at least 5 of those container ships. Can be done in a 20 year span.

The problem right now is more man-made than actual crisis meaning it was manufactured.

3
kent 3 points ago +3 / -0

The problem completely ignored in this article is that American owned companies moved their manufacturing to China and then import the merchandise to be sold in America. The CEOs and investors who made that decision are the ones who messed things up in the last 40 years. This problem wouldn't exist if more things were made in America.

3
Joshua55 3 points ago +3 / -0

Buttplug is too busy breastfeeding his baby to fix anything.

3
Batman 3 points ago +3 / -0

Why don’t companies start building manufacturing in Africa and Latin America, then ship to Gulf and East Coast states? Gets them away from China and eliminates the west coast problem.

So, they somehow HELP CLIMATE by making ships go further (more fossil fuel usage) to make ships and trucks coming in and out lower the emissions around the globe?

4
mariox 4 points ago +4 / -0

They all know climate change is a hoax, they don't actually care about emissions, they use emissions as an excuse to advance other agendas. If this problem was building up over many years, they knew containergeddon was going to happen, and they WANTED it to happen. It might have been one of their plans set in motion to use against a republican president, but since Biden was successful able to steal the election they will just have to cover it up the best they can.
