7.62 master race. Steel, brass, corrosive, dirt, mud, still runs better than the commie countries using it.

If there was anything commies were good at it was murdering the opposition, so it makes sense

nice! did you hear PSA is fixin to make steel case for this?

asiandood 8 points ago +8 / -0

7.62 should be fine. Too much of a popular round to not make. 5.45 on the other hand is probably gonna disappear, shame too because I wanted to get an ak74 next.

7
JohnCocktoastin 7 points ago +7 / -0

It better not! The fkn 7n6 ammo ban was a nut stomp for me. I love my ak74. Can’t find decent ammo though. I prob need to find dies and make my own. Though I’ve never seen brass in this caliber before. Every commercial ammo I have seen is steel cased.

BeardedNinjaPede 7 points ago +7 / -0

Hornady makes 5.45x39 brass. I just found some ar this site. But I'm sure others carry it.

https://www.opticsplanet.com/v/8609-hornady-rifle-cartridge-cases.html

Reloading for this caliber will become a necessity. Stock up on components now if you want to reload later. I wish I bought tens of thousands more primers in 2019.

JohnCocktoastin 4 points ago +4 / -0

I have managed over the last 6 months to get primers. Thankfully. I scored 3k large rifle and 3k LR magnum primers yesterday as luck would have it. And a sporting goods store down the street was getting shipments of small rifle in over the summer every 2-3 weeks. They'd limit to 1 brick a person so I would just bring the wife and my oldest and we'd get 3 bricks a day till they sold out. I'd say large pistol primers are what I don't have much of.

Powder seems to be an issue. I have some. But not exactly what I want. I am convinced that Varget = nvidia rtx 3080 = bigfoot = doesn't exist. But I did just find out that Varget is one of the Hodgdon powders they buy from ADI in Australia...which explains why its not available. Chairman Mao shut down the Varget supply.

I'll hunt around for those cases, thanks for that. Didn't know hornady was into that caliber. How long will it take to find if even opticsplanet is saying "unknown eta" lol...those guys are kings of selling it to you anyways and then kicking the date of shipping down the road repeatedly.

BeardedNinjaPede 3 points ago +3 / -0

I have seen some primers back in stock, but for about $75 per 1000. That's much more than they were (in 2019), but at least they're available.

I stocked up on powder in 2020; around 50 lbs of various types including Varget which is now fairy dust as far as availability. That's interesting information about Varget, I didn't know that and it makes sense.

Optics Planet was just one of the first DDG results for "Hornady 5.45x39 brass". I'm sure other companies have it in stock as well so shop around if you like. I've never ordered from them. I do think this caliber brass will become difficult to find as others like you buy it up. Along with everything else as we descend into communism...

I'm also interested in a 30xx series NVIDIA card. It seems the best way now is to just buy a complete system with the card you want and pull the card. It's still cheaper than buying a $4k individual card for some reason.

I watched a video just a bit ago of a guy making it out of 5.56 brass...but remarking about the occasional "deficiencies" of doing it. Also some other guy was doing it with 222 brass. I should prob see what can be done with that. A worthy mission.

2
BeardedNinjaPede 2 points ago +2 / -0

Interesting. You can make 300 BLK from .223/5.56 brass. I haven't looked into making 5.45x39 brass though.

3
asiandood 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep Russian made only. Not enough ppl running the ak74 to warrant domestic manufacturers to choose to make 5.45 over the already popular rounds 9mm, 10mm, 5.56, .223, .45, etc....

Gonna hate our tech too? Which many of our tech achievements has been linked to WWII Germany.

Pretty dumb to be hating on a tool when it's well within your 2a rights to own.

Did you try ammoseek.com? That’s where I find vendors for my ammo.

1
JohnCocktoastin 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've had good luck getting primer notifications from them. But powder has been dismal. I forget which site like ammoseek I've been on, but that one lists all sorts of in stock that isn't in stock. And the sites give security alerts on the browser. Some of the sites don't actually exist. Strange times we live...

edit: gunbot...holy shit I get some bogus links from that place

1
chesswhilehigh 1 point ago +1 / -0

Was it ammobuy.com? That’s another popular search engine for ammo.

1
JohnCocktoastin 1 point ago +1 / -0

no, I just looked. it is gunbot...I get some of the most ridiculous results. Some of them are legit but most give me a security alert and/or return no stock when the site says "in stock"

2
Cliffinati 2 points ago +2 / -0

5.45 you should be able to neck down 7.62x39 brass though good luck finding .21 caliber bullets

2
Panopticon 2 points ago +2 / -0

Every now and then there is boxer steel case. If you see any, it can be reloaded. I did some 223 to mess with the range masters... No bi metal bullets! It's not man.

If diversity is so great and and our strength, then why didn't the illegals make their country great before the left?

4
SHILL_DETECTOR 4 points ago +5 / -1

They arent real refugees of anything

4
RagnarD 4 points ago +4 / -0

Because they aren't diverse in their country; there they are all the same. It's only after leaving their country and going to a Western country that the diversity fairy sprinkles them with a magical dust that makes them worthwhile and special.

AK?

5
aangler100 5 points ago +5 / -0

Ok?

8
OldGreg 8 points ago +8 / -0

Meaning my eyes are shit these days and it looks like an AK 47, but it could be a variant and I’m not sure.

2
XpatDemocrat 2 points ago +2 / -0

Especially with the quote being "diversity at its finest" im thinking its a chinese russian knock off with an American magazine, and soon to be full of American BOOLETS

4
OldGreg 4 points ago +4 / -0

As long as it functions, I’d use it.

2
user365927285937 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s the Omega variant because it’s the last thing you see.

2
OldGreg 2 points ago +2 / -0

It can’t miss!

4
BeardedNinjaPede 4 points ago +4 / -0

It looks like a WASR-10 to me which is an AK-47. They're lower cost, but regarded as good quality AKs. I have one and like it.

4
user365927285937 4 points ago +4 / -0

Newb question but how are AK’s “legal” since the commies banned full auto?

5
BeardedNinjaPede 5 points ago +5 / -0

Good question and thanks for asking.

Almost all "AKs" in the USA are not real AKs. They are neutered semiautomatic versions that have had a number of the original parts replaced with USA made parts due to the 922(R) import laws. They're similar, but not the real deal.

To clarify, full auto guns are not inherently illegal and many Americans own them legally. Briefly, the production of new fully automatic guns for civilian use was made illegal due to the Hughes Ammendment in 1986. Civilian owned full autos at the time were allowed to be registered with the federal government and owners were allowed to keep or sell them. There are no new fully automatic and legal guns since 1986 for civilian use in the USA.

There is a massive supply problem with the number of legal full autos because only those that existed and were registered in 1986 are legal. This drives the price up to tens of thousands of dollars per full auto gun which puts them out of the price range of most Americans. There are also no where near enough for each American, should they want one.

In my opinion, and in many others', this is blatantly unconstitutional, but it is the reality of our current situation.

4
user365927285937 4 points ago +4 / -0

This sounds oddly similar to the classical guitar market- where in order to get a good sounding guitar you need tens of thousands of dollars to get the ones made from wood from old trees which have been banned or gone extinct.

It’s mind blowing that a 9 year old Somali boy has access to more stopping power than a full grown American man. Infuriating.

I guess I continue pretending to be a liberal in public and work on my business goals so I can own one some day. Thanks for the info 🙂

4
BeardedNinjaPede 4 points ago +4 / -0

I've read that real AKs, in whatever condition, can be bought in Africa and the middle east for about $200. About the same price as a slave or a few goats.

2
DontArkancideMeBro 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s fully semi-auto.

1
Cliffinati 1 point ago +1 / -0

You don't have an auto seer in it

3
OldGreg 3 points ago +3 / -0

Nice!

4
BeardedNinjaPede 4 points ago +4 / -0

I've mag dumped 75 round drums of commie steel ammo with my WASR-10 until the handguards caught fire literally. It worked flawlessly and I blew out the flames when I was done. WASRs are good to go.

Id rather use my AK as a chair than shop at Walmart

9
bigdickhangsright 9 points ago +9 / -0

I get it and feel the same but the point of the link was to show who made the set and how much it costs.

2
Flatulenator 2 points ago +2 / -0

Context: They required their employees to get vaccinated and they're moving away from cashiers. I refuse to give them any of my money no matter how broke I am.

2

Those have caught my attention. They look awesome but a little on the heavy side. Picked up a sam7sf for purity sake, but the Galils are still in my dreams when I wake up in the morning.

That’s a good thing, but I do like having a dog around to bark if someone tries to break in so it gives me time to grab a rifle or a handgun.
